I am attaching the response I got from MS. Do as you like with the information.

"This special itinerary was developed just for our Members and is not available
on any other sailing. The original itinerary for February 2, 2003, called for a
scheduled day at sea but based on frequent Member comments of wanting more time
to enjoy Castaway Cay, we have changed the sea day to an "encore" visit to our
popular private island.

In addition to participating in a one of a kind Disney Wonder sailing dedicated
entirely to our Members and their guests, families will enjoy a variety of great
events, fun activities and of course& special giveaways! The "S.S. Member
Cruise" will be a memorable experience for the entire family and a unique
opportunity to meet other members of the magical DVC community."

Here is my .02 on the deal....

It seems that there are things that DVC is doing for this Members cruise that DCL does not do on their other cruises.... and they are still providing everything else on this cruise that they do for regular cruises.... so therefore they ARE giving DVCr's MORE for their points than on an average cruise....

More details are to follow I am sure, and maybe they should be giving them to us now, but I still have faith that the "extras" will be worth it.... . We would love to go but the timing doesnt work for us..... so I eagerly await the first trip report posted........

EDITED FOR GRAMMAR, but I know it is still really poor.... lol I blame lack of sleep...

Ah yes, but will the charge outragious taxes on those giveaway prizes like they do when you win you on the regular DCL cruises? I was really shocked to find out how much people have to pay in taxes when they won.

(Just a question, no flames necessary :))

Considering that taxes are determined by government rules, I can't see how they can do anything but charge what's required.

That's funny - I got the same "form" letter too, complete with same errors! I will say one thing I got a very fast response from the DVC Member Satisfaction Manager. I still think its poor judgement on their part to charge more points! Just think if you had booked a few weeks ago you would be going for less than DVC member can tomorrow morning. Go figure again!

I would guess I am again in the minority on this.

I do NOT want to know all the details of special events/giveaways and such. That would take a good deal of the magic out of the cruise. I do expect some good amounts of pixie dust thrown all round, but I really, want to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm in total agreement w/ you Mark. Its worth it to us to be anticipating some kind of surprise. I can hardly wait.

We went on the DVC Members 10th Anniversary Cruise in April! It was wonderful and I wish we had points available to cruise again in February. For the April cruise, we received free DVC caps. lanyards, and T-Shirts. There were several drawings during the cruise. I think the biggest prize was free dues for one year. I don't know if they will be doing this again or if this was just for the 10th anniversary cruise. Also.....we had at least two Members Only receptions with lots of goodies!! By far, the best thing was just getting to meet other members. If I recall correctly, one of the suggestions was to have another members only cruise where we had the ship all to ourselves plus more time at Castaway Cay. Looks like, once again, DVC listen to the desires of their members. Gosh.....sure wish I could go again :(

OK DVC1996...tell us more! These "goodies" sounds like some good food to me....woohoo!! I love your enthusiasm. Its great to hear and makes me feel better about our decision. This will be DD's first cruise. She is four. What a way to start :p :p

we just vacationed in june at wdw and bought 400 points at BCV during our stay...........we leave for the BCV on 8/30 for a night then are going on the cruise...me the wife and the baby......but i bought it on cash for 7 days..........i am thinking about doing the dvc cruise but wondering if I'll be cruised out ........????? i think it would be cool to go and meet all you wonderful posters..........and it wont interfer with football season which is huge for us here in Nashville, TN...............:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Yes.....the food at the receptions was really good. I recall peel and eat shrimp and champagne at the sailing away reception.
Each night we would come back to our cabin and there was some surprise.....such as a DVC cap, T-shirt, 10th Anniversary pin, DVC sand bucket and ball for the kids. At the DVC Member update there were drawings for DVC umbrellas, folding chair, cups, and key chains. The big drawings based on Members who completed their Member Challenge cards were cels/prints with the biggest prize being free dues for one year. There was a special section for DVCers only at Castaway Cay but, of course, you won't need this since you will have Castaway Cay all to yourselves for two days:p In addition to the daily Personal Navigator we also got a Disney Vacation Club Member Daily Event Planner so you would know the time and place of special member events. I really feel this trip will be another memorable and special vacation. Have fun!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I just found the trip report I wrote back in April so it is probably more accurate since everything was fresh in my mind then.
Hope this works: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=189240&highlight=Anniversary+Cruise

Harriet, thank you so much for your post. I made DH get out of bed to read it! (its just about 1AM here) You have made me so much more excited! (if thats possible) I've been at it all night, decided to go for broke! A week at "home" at the BWV's 1bdrm then off to the cruise (don't want to be late ;) Of course my account is just about depleted for 2004 but who cares!!! this sounds like it will be worth it. Thanks again for your enthusiastic posts and the link to your trip report. I will go to sleep w/ a huge smile on my face. Wish you were going on the cruise also! :) :)
