OK so my DH (he's the best) requested DVC to send me info about DVC since we are "pre-members" :goodvibes: . We've been thinking about joining up off and on for the past three years and now that I have this purple, hard cover book, dry embossed with the word "Dreams" on it, with full color pages (the pictures are amazing) and filled with loads of info...I'm ready to buy!

1. I need advice though. What are all of the things I need to know before purchasing DVC.

2. Do I buy over the phone or should we go down to Orlando and purchase DVC there? We are interested in the 240 point plan where our annual dues will be about $1,000 per year. We will be financing so I am asking this question.

3. Also, in this book it says very little, but they did put Interval International in there. We are timeshare owners already and we use II as our exchange company...how does this work with DVC? Any help on this will be appreciated.

4. With 240 points, in the low season, what kind of cruise can we go on? 3 or 4 night cruise and on what ship and where? It's me, my DH and our DD11.

I am very impressed and pleased with the book I was sent and I will be keeping it with my 1st Year Book, because it is definitely a Collector's item (in my eyes).

In the back portion of the book, there are fold out pages. They have the complete points charts for the Disney locations. And there is a sample of non-Disney points required.

Going off my memory, the cruise in low season was running around 150ish points per person for the 7 night cruise in low season (for the lowest category room). My personal opinion is that cruising on points isn't the best use of the points. I've seen much better "deals" for cash. For instance, I see postcards for 7 night cruises starting at $799-$999. Assuming that the points are worth the going rental rate of $10 to $11 a point, that's $1500 instead of $800 cash value.

As far as closing, even though I live 60 miles away, I just sent my closing in the mail. I didn't want to take the time out to go sign the paperwork. But that's up to your personal preference.

I did my whole purchase from NJ, they made it really easy. They Fed Ex the closing documents and give you a prepaid Fed Ex envelope to send it all back.

With our initial purchase and both add-ons, we did everything by phone and Fed Ex. "Sign by the Mickeys, date by the palm trees." Its a piece of cake!

1. My "OPINION" is to buy resale via TTS and save 15-20% vs Disney
2. What % interest is DVC charging? Perhaps TSS can beat it. I am not a big fan of financing as it is probably better to pay cash or get a Bank home loan and deduct the interest.
3. Use your other timeshare to trade II and keep DVC for personal use.
4. Do not use DVC for DCL cruise...unless you get a bargain. Retn your points and pay cash for DCL.
