Received AAA discount but not a member

I had to show my AAA card and give my number to get the rate (last time I went). This time, I gave my number and was told to bring my card. You may get lucky, but it's a toss up. I'd get the membership - it comes in handy in so many other instances...

Oops - I just caught that you're going in March - I guess you need to get that AAA card!

MommyBoo,

Have fun in the tower!!!

Thank you!! We can't wait!! :cool1:

As far as the AAA membership, I got it for the Disney resort discount but have already used it to get my car towed, so it's already more than paid for itself. :)

I agree, I purchased AAA for the sole purpose of getting a Disney discount but have used it many times as I indicated earlier just in purchasing park tickets, not only for Disney but other places at a discount so it's worth it

What is the AAA discount (20% off rack, 30%, etc.)?

I would recommend buying the AAA membership. I wouldn't risk not having it and ending up with rack rate at check-in.

As for the discounts (subject to availability):

Value Season
15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts
20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness campsites.

Regular Season
10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts
15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

Peak Season
10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts
15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply around Christmas

I have never been asked to show my AP or postcard ut have always had to show my AAA card at WDW. Always.

Every time I make reservations for a AAA rate they have always wanted my membership number at the time I make the reservation. We have AP's too and have been lucky enough to switch to an AP rate once they came out.
We had AAA anyways so it was a nice perk to get the discount just in case we couldn't get the AP discount.

Have a great trip!

Yesterday I booked the Poly for 4 days in March. I was actually looking for a moderate and the Poly was all that popped up. As I agonized over the cost the CM asked if I was a AAA member, I told him I wasn't but he gave me the rate anyway.

Is there an expectation that I will join before I arrive in March? Will I be asked for a membership # upon check-in?

As you can see the answer to this question varies greatly. I have an AP and have never been asked to show it at check-in but I had to give my AAA number 3 weeks ago when I made my ressie. Basically you are taking a chance that they will ask you for the card. If you don't have it you may be forced to pay full rack rate. If you are okay with that, then take the chance. If the savings is a lot more than the price of the membership, it may be worth it. Plus you'll have AAA for your car for the year.

Good luck!

Elise

I have always been assked to see my AAA card but only asked once to see my AP. Wouldn't want to take a chance on rack rate but I do love my AAA card.

If you are going to Universal at all they take AAA throughout the parks for discounts.
