We will be celebrating my daughter's 1st birthday at the world in January. Does anyone have any reccomendations on where would be a good place to eat for this. Nothing too over the top...just something cute and fun that a 1yr. old would appreciate.

If she is not afraid of the characters I would go for a meal with characters, especially buffets where she can eat off your plate. These tend to be bright and colorful and a lot of motion. Hollywood & Vine for Playhouse Disney characters or GG Mickey & friends where the characters are a little bit more laid back (at least to me).

Or something bright and colorful like the Coral Reef or one of the countries where there is quite a bit to look at.

Hope this helps some. :)

i would say cp with Winnie, piglet, pooh and eyeore. and show her a couple movies first.

I really don't think a 1 year old will appreciate much of anything. They just like to eat, play and sleep. Just go somewhere YOU like for yourself. But that's just my opinion. ;)

I wouldnt go to Hollywood & Vine. Found the quality of the food to be very low.

I would love to take her to the crystal palace, but I read it would be closed during our trip in Jan.

When my DS celebrated his 1st birthday in Disney some 4 years ago we celebrated at The Liberty Tree Tavern. Granted it was a character meal back then, but the family style food was good and helped to create the at home atmosphere we wanted. We ordered a tiny cake that he went to town with as well. It was a great experience. PS we have eaten at Liberty since then and we still love it.

I'd go somewhere that YOU want to eat at. This is probably the last chance you have a say in where you want to eat!!!! Celebrate the day as it is your celebration too!

We will actually be in Disney for my daughter's first birthday at the end of January. We didn't plan it that way but are excited. We'll be joined my my husband's parents, siblings, and grandparents. We are going to do CRT for lunch, and Cal Grill for dinner. My daughter at 8 months loves eating out. She likes all the people and is already a budding foodie. haha I am still surprised by the crazy foods she likes.

Buckeye Princess we will probably be there the same time. We are staying in a villa at Kidani. When is your Daughter's birthday? My Violet's is the 21st. I would love to do CRT or the Princees breakfast in Norway, but alas I don't think my boys will be too fond of that. I guees that leaves me leaning towards Chef Mickey's.

100% agree!!!! My goodness a one yr old won't care if it is McDonalds or The Chef's table at V&A. Actually they would like Mc D's better, more lights and action:rotfl:

I really think we have lost all perspective anymore.

You would be able to get great 1st b-day pics at Chef Mickey's (w/ baby, Mickey, & Mickey's pals). Breakfast usually get better reviews & it's the most popular time to go. I believe that they also used to do a big group b-day song (not sure if they still do). Have fun!

Way to be nice....

Respectfully, I disagree. Celebrating the life of a child with your family is a beautiful thing. Some b-day parties may seem a little outrageous, but the OP wasn't asking about anything extreme.

I sometimes don't understand why people post unhelpful and unnecessary comments when others are simply asking for help. Sure, we all have our own opinions, but we also know when our opinions really aren't needed.

Chef Mickey's was great. I just took DS1 to WDW and he loved the characters. He enjoyed Mickey & pals and Chef Mickey's has the whole celebration thing (I got 3 cupcakes & Donald came over to celebrate) during dinner. DS1 also LOVED Pooh & Tigger so Crystal Palace would have been my first pick, but it's closed in January. Pooh & Tigger are also at 1900 Park Fare breakfast which was really yummy too! Also, has Mary Poppins, Alice & Mad Hatter. I got a cupcake there and a signed placemat from the characters.

DS1 did better at breakfast and lunch than at dinners, so that would be my only recommendation. DS1 was exhausted by dinner and just wanted to eat and get out of there (and we did 5:45 dinners).

My DS will be 2 in January - hooray for January babies :)

Honestly, I agree with the PPs who have suggested that you go somewhere that you will really like - and celebrate surviving the first year :) But DO make it somewhere that you can get GREAT pics - since she won't remember it at all, you need great pics to show later!!!!

A character meal isn't a bad idea at all, as long as your little one won't be scared by the characters - I'm trying to get DS to watch pooh and friends to get ready for our trip and he really isn't interested in them at all (oh well, might just not make lunch at CP after all).

My daughter's birthday is the 30th. I called today to find out if I can order a cake with no eggs and we can. Each pediatrician differs on food introduction time lines so that may not be a concern for you, but I know many little ones either don't do eggs, or gluten or something or another.

I vote for Chef Mickey's if the characters won't scare her. It would be a fun meal for everyone.
