Reccomend a restaurant in an on-site hotel for me please

We are looking for a restaurant for the day we arrive to the resort. We are not going into the parks that day, so are looking for a place to have dinner. We are considering DTD, but prefer a restaurant within one of the hotels. We have never eaten at any of the restuarants in the hotels except Goofys kitchen for breakfast. We are not looking for something too expensive (Steakhouse 55), or a character meal (we save that for our last meal at the resorts). Please tell me why you like the restaurant too please. And if you like, give me some examples of what they serve.

Storyteller's Cafe. Great ambiance, good wood fired pizzas (affordable if you split), heavenly corn chowder.

Storyteller's is a family favorite. You can either order buffet or off the menu. You can get an expensive dinner, or salad & appetizer. They have a delish corn chowder, too. yum

I too like Storyteller's, but another option (outside of a hotel) is Jazz Kitchen in DTD. Very good food and great atmosphere, and afterwords you are right there in DTD for the all the night time enjoyment.

We chose to have a late dinner at PCH Grill in Paradise Pier Hotel. Although hubby and I felt our shared meal (something with cheese in or on it?) was too heavy for us, the "make your own" pizza that DS had was fun for him and really good.

While it is not in the hotels, I will second the Jazz Kitchen upstairs dining room. It is excellent. But, it is not cheap. Although cheaper than Napa Rose, it can be pricey.

We've tried to eat at Storyteller's two or three times now. DD8 can't stay in there. It smells like smoke and makes her think of our house fire. It smells like smoke because they use wood fires to cook their pizza, which I think would be absolutely heavenly but DD8 just can't do it. The smoke smell is pretty heavy but not overpowering for the rest of us, just her. Just an fyi for you, some people are sensitive to smoke.

We like Rainforest Cafe a lot, if we aren't eating in the parks we go there, Mimi's on Harbor, Joe's Crab Shack down Harbor or to Jazz Kitchen.

Oh, and am very smoke sensitive... we ate there for 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner, and I didn't smell anything... maybe if you still closer to the kitchen?? I don't know... I wouldn't let what the PP said about smoke deter you though...

No, we walked thru the doors and could smell it. We opened the doors and could smell it. As I said, it was not a heavy smoke smell and didn't bother me, DBF or DD11 but my DD8 couldn't deal. Also, as I said, that may be due to our house fire and some lingering trauma that she has from that experience. Also, as I said it is from the wood fires they use for the pizza, which would be so good but I won't force my child to eat someplace she isn't comfortable so we just left. And as I said, we tried it twice after the intial visit, she still won't do it. I'm extremely smoke sensitive myself and I would eat there, but I won't force her. I'm not telling the OP NOT to eat there, I'm ONLY offering up our experience and if you read my post it clearly says that it's not overpowering for anyone BUT DD8.

OP, I do think you should try it, my post is only to let you know that there is a smoke smell in the air and MY DD8 won't eat there.

With kids your kids' age, I'd do Rainforest. It's right at the edge of DtD, so if you're at PP or DLH, it will be a short walk, and closer than Storytellers.
