Rebooking

We are booked on the 7 Day Eastern Caribean on the Magice the week starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving (November 29th). My wife is interested on what sort of saving we can expect to get if we rebook while onboard. Anyone who has been on recently and rebooked care to share rates?

We were on the ship in Jan 2003 and rebooked for Jan 2004 7 day while on the ship. There are 10 of us and we have 3 catagory 2 rooms. The entire charge was $7398.50. I checked the web site the other day and if we booked the same exact trip today it was over $11,000. Because we booked while on board for a 7 day and 3 rooms we also get $600 on board credits bringing the trip down to $6798.50. We can not wait to go!

Ooops...not catagory 2 we booked catagory 9 for that rate. I might start a riot on these boards if I claim I got 3 catagory 2 rooms for this rate.

You can book a future 7-day while onboard, secure the $200.00 stateroom credit offered, then transfer the reservation to a good discount TA - I have never gotten better pricing from DCL vs my TA in all of the cruises I've been on - In fact, not even close

Call me crazy but I don't understand how to transfer your reservation after you book with DCL. If you do that and the TA price is cheaper do they lower you price to reflect that?? I have my frist cruise booked with All Seasons for next May.

Our trip now on Allseastravel is $8673. That is still $1,274.50 more than DCL while booking on board.

I would check will all-seasons before I booked on board. I booked on board to get the $200 credit. When I got back I checked all-seasons and their rate was $400 less then price on board. But if I changed my reservation to them and get their rates vs. DCL I could not keep my $200 on board credit, told me they could only honor DCL prices if I wanted to keep my onboard credit. The reason is because they buy bulk reservations at group rates. Ok so the difference is still $200, but if I turned over my reservation to DU I kept my $200 on board credit and got a $150 rebate, still $50 difference but have used DU on 3 previous cruises and never had a problem.

Good question and very informative answers. I'm also thinking of rebooking onboard and had the same questions.

I have another question regarding rebooking onboard - if we change the reservation to a different date later on, can we still get the discount rate? can we still keep the $200 onboard credit?

Just for kicks, we wanted to compare the price to book onboard for our May, 2004 cruise. Even with the current 10% off plus $200 onboard credit it was over one thousand dollars more than booking through All Seasons. I was NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED with the DCL rep on the Wonder who is supposed to handle rebooking questions. We completed a form the morning of the second day of the cruise inquiring about a quote. The evening of the third day I walked by her desk when she was between clients, told her that we had filled out a form and asked if she would contact us or if we needed to do something else. She was extremely snippy and said that she would be in touch before the cruise ended. She never contacted us.

My husband (who never identified himself by name or stateroom)got the quote from her. One of the few negative experiences we've had with a Disney employee, and I wished I had business cards for All Seasons to pass out to those waiting to get quotes from her!

Do this -- get a quote (if you can) from the onboard booking person. Then spend five minutes online on the ship to check the rate to book with All Seasons, or the travel agency of your choice. I expect you will not book onboard........

I guess the good thing about booking early on board is you are well ahead of any cancellation penalties.

I think the best way to get good rates is to book early and shop around. Once you find a good travel agency too, they will be even more helpful.

Or another option is to move to Florida and get FL resident rates!

okay, so you can get a $200 per stateroom credit on the 7 day cruises ... what about on the 3 or 4 day cruises? Are there any stateroom credits for booking those while still onboard?
