You may want to check out dreamsunlimitedtravel.com -- they have a cash back deal going on where you can get up to $200 additional off of your cruise. I've used them before and have had a great experience. They're also the sponsor of this board.
Ifyou are planning on transferring your ressie to another TA, I'd suggest you shop around. You probably already got your 10% discount and your stateroom credit, so you can't add to or improve on that, now you can look for a rebate. Dreams Unlimited offers a rebate but some other ta's will offer you one too but you'll have to ask for it. Shop around as if you haven't rebooked and get prices and ask about rebates. We used AllSeasons and they offered it to us. www.allseastravel.com
Mark and Sandra- We booked thru All Seasons and had no idea that there was a rebate, or to ask for one! This is our first Disney cruise. Thanks for your help!!
By "rebooking" do you mean booking another cruise while on board or actually rebooking a cruise you've already booked prior to your cruise while on board? I hope that makes sense!
The reason I'm asking is because I've heard the best discounts to get are early booking discounts. We will be cruising April 2005 and we already know we want to cruise again in April 2006. I want to book the 2006 cruise as soon as it opens up rather than waiting until we are on our 2005 cruise. Can I rebook that existing ressie for 2006 while on our 2005 cruise to get the $200 credit?
married2grumpy- The rebooking we are talking about is while onboard. I've spent alot of time researching prices and the earlier you book a cruise the better your price should be. If you book as far out as possible and then see the rate lowered you can usually get the better rate from most TA's. If while onboard you see that the cruise you have previously booked can be had at a better price, by this I mean extra discounts and stateroom credits, then rebook while onboard and cancel your old ressie. If you then decide to switch your ressie from DCL to another TA like DreamsUnlimited or AllSeasons they can (If they are still offering it) give you a further savings in the form of a rebate on top of your existing discounted price.
Nysie- I told AllSeasons that I was considering switching to another TA because of an offer of a rebate (300.00 savings) and they matched it. I don't think they'll offer you a rebate just for asking. If you're far enough out as not to be penalized for cancelling, ask DreamsUnlimited for a quote including their offer of a rebate. If it's better then AllSeasons then you might have a chance at them offering you a matching rebate to stay. If not cancel and rebook elsewhere at the better price.
Thanks, FYI, I did call around and allseas couldn't do better than what I got onboard, DU couldn't beat the price but would give a $200 rebate and cruisetraveloutlet.com offered a $214 savings, so at least I can save $200 or more by switching. Any other ideas out there?
While on my cruise in Aug. 2004, I can rebook on board for say Aug. 2005(assuming the schedule is out by then!!) and then when I come home I can call another TA and have them take over the reservation? How is that actually done, I just call a TA and give them the confirmation Number and they become the TA?
Most TA's will not take any ressies from another TA, except, All TA's can take over your ressies from DCL with no problem. DCL even offers you the opportunity to have your current or any other TA have your booking at the time of your onboard rebooking. I'd wait though and see what discounts are out there, since you can easily switch from DCL to any TA. If you switch immediately and you find a better discount out there, you'll have to ask your current TA to give you ressie back to DCL and then switch. ...Mark
I know, it seems complicated but you got it. Book with DCL onboard to get 10% off and $200 per stateroom (for 7 night if they are still offering). The just call DU, allseas, cruisetraveloutlet (any others?) They will most likely give you a better deal( you keep your credit too) and they will call DCL and take over the ressie. The only change for you is that all of your dealings now go thru the travel agant instead of DCL (like if you want to add a package, etc..).
62travelDisney-You almost got it. You probably won't get a better deal anywhere else, but they could improve on it. You won't get a discount (DCL's 10% is about the only one you'll get). You can't add on to your stateroom credit (only replace it with another one instead). That leaves a rebate. Shop around and see who is willing to match or beat any rebates you find. Remember that rebates are cutting into their commissions, so they aren't easily offered by many TA's ( DreamsUnlimited does promote theirs). Knowing that TA's can and do lower their commission by offering a rebate is some powerful info. Just how bad do they want your business? ...Mark
