Rebels are back in 2012

Nice looking shoes Steve.

I missed my Thursday run because of a need for sleep so I ran Friday instead. 5 miles right on target with the pace I wanted. My local running group and I have been stalking weather.com all week as we have been watching the cold weather and snow come our way. We had been planning to do our long run tomorrow, which then turned into half the group just planning to hit the treadmill in the morning. No way can I do 10 miles on the treadmill. I did 14 once and broke my will of running on the treadmill, lol. It was 1:30 and weather.com said the snow was starting at 4, so I jumped into my running clothes and went for it. I pulled off another 2:16 10 miler. This time however, since I was by myself, I had control over the pace and was able to keep it even the entire run instead of starting out slower and needing to push it to get the pace I wanted. And it felt awesome. Way better than last week.

Hope everyone's week has started well and that everyone is having a nice Valentine's Day.

I started the morning off with a 5 mile run. Then later in the da I registered for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler. My DF and I are treating this as our bachelor/bachelorette race. Should be fun!

Katie Great Job on two 2:16 10 milers

Steve Nice new shoes. My new Mizunos arrived today, but they are not as colorful as your Sauconys. No need to take pictures.

Cheri 3miles 3x week is enough to keep your heart from exploding, no reason to feel bad about it.

Manda Good idea about staying up for the start of the half ;) , it would kind of be like Wine and Dine only later.

Gretchen Congratulations on getting back out after a day.

AFM Back to our earlier conversation on how long shoes last, my knees started hurting last week, 340 miles on the shoes. You would think that I would learn to buy shoes at about 300 miles. Sorry I was gone so long. Work has been busy, and then we went to see our son in South Carolina last week. At least it was nice, we got a run in outside along a river path. Very Nice.

Leave for Princess in and a wakeup until we leave for Princess.

Mike

I will be in FL this time next week shopping for wedding dresses! :) and :( at the same time. A little nervous. I got in 2 5 milers this week so far. Staying consistent with my pace. Also started working back in some weight training. Just doin gosme high intensity 20 minute workouts from the FIRM.

Mike: Thanks! So glad the weather was nice for you in SC. It has been a little iffy the past couple weeks with temps on the east coast. Brrr...

This will probably be my last post before leaving for Disney Thursday. Did 4 miles at race pace today.

Also booked my room for Marathon Weekend next year.

Mike

Safe travels Mike! I fly out Wednesday night. Did 6 miles yesterday as my taper for next weekend. Feeling pretty ready for race day.

Have a great time, Katie and Mike. I will be sending all my best wishes down to the Princess race (wish I was there).
Katie - good luck with the wedding dress shopping....that is so exciting!
I have been out of commission for the past week or more since I came down with a bad sore throat and head cold. Hope this week is better. Just feeling down and out of it.

Katie and Mike: Have a fun and safe trip to Florida. I wont lie, I'm pretty jealous.

Gretchen: I just came off of a "recovery week" for elbow issues. Its tough taking the time off, but its important.

My elbow is fully recovered and I am back in the full swing of workouts. I might try to work in an extra day of running since the Canton half is in four months, but that may be taking on a little too much.

Gretchen: Hope you feel better soon!

Steve: Glad the elbows are back in good conidition. Have fun getting back into the swing of things.

Just popping in to give Katie and Mike my best wishes for a great race tomorrow. Enjoy everything about the day.:thumbsup2

Hi guys, thanks for all the good wishes. Had a good race. Met a few wishers, but not K80K. Hope everyone is doing well.

Mike

Hey all. Sorry I have been MIA. I have had a change in Internet situation and it has been harder to get on.

Hope everyone had a good February.

How was the Princess?

I was able to make my 50 miles for Feb, but it was close. I took too much time off after my half at the beginning of the month. Hope to be more consistant this month.

Hopefully I will find more time to get on later this week.

Thanks so much for the good wishes everyone. Princess was a lot of fun this year, as usual. I an it with my friend Megan and her sister. We had a blast. The miles just melted away. I did end up coming home with a bad case of hay fever. Didn't run at all the week after the race then did another half the following weekend. I felt like we were taking it easy but during that half I cut 11 minutes off our Princess time. Now I am trying to get back into the swing of things with my weekday runs. I have another week then I have the Shamrock half. Did I mention I stacked my March/April/May race schedules since I am moving in June? It is going to be a little chaotic for the next few months I think, lol.

Whats up everyone,
Just checking in. I finally got to do some running outside and it is so much better than the treadmill. Workouts have been going well. My first race isn't until June but I still feel like its coming up fast. Thats it for now.

Steve

Katie - I added Shamrock to the race calendar, but Don't have the rest of your races.

Steve - if you let me know what your June race is I will add it to the calendar.

I'm willing to bet some other people have things scheduled as well.

Mike

Here are my races for this year:
Canton Half Marathon - June 17th
Wine & Dine Half - November 9 & 10
WDW Marathon (maybe Goofy?) - January 10-13, 2013

I might look for a race around september but it really depends on work.

Here's my race schedule:
4/1/12 Cherry Pit 10Mi
4/14/12 St Charles 10Mi
4/15/12 Women’s 5K By the Bay 5K
4/21/12 Sole of the City 10K
4/29/12 Irongirl Columbia 1/2
5/5/12 Expedition Everest 5K
5/19/12 Run for the Dream 1/2
6/2/12 Zooma Annapolis 10K
9/29/12 Tower of Terror 10Mi
11/09/12 Wine&Dine 1/2
1/13/13 WDW Marathon Weekend Full

I will probably add more into the fall schedule once I get to FL and see what the local races are. :)

Since I double posted I will use this one for my update, lol.

When I got home from Shamrock I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and then I had the trip to FL to pick the colors for the new house. So aside from a 3 miler I ended up not being able to get any runs in. Last night I moved into my parents place so I was able to get out this morning for a nice 5 miler. It was a little cold but I had a good run. Now to just get back to being consistent with my workouts. ;)

Whats up everyone?
I added a couple races to my schedule. Ill be doing a warrior dash on august 25th and I also signed up for the air force half marathon on september 15th.

I took a week off from my normal workouts because I started getting shin splints for the first time. Ive gained about 10 lbs. over the past couple months (I think from the lifting) and think that along with new shoes might be causing it. So I decided to get some shoe inserts and change my lifting days to boxing and bodyweight exercise day (pushups, pullups, etc.).

Thats it for now. Just thought id give a quick update (and bump our thread back to the first page.)
