As my Dad is lecturing my sister about getting 15 zillion cartilage piercings, hes saying...
" Dying your head half pink half blue, getting crappy piercings and heavy emo crap makeup makes someone rebellious! "

" I woulnd't in my life hire someone like that. There is one word that describes them. "

Stupid.


They are pretty much ruining their lives.


And he went on and on about how she screams at our mom ladeedah.


What do you think about Rebellion?

Um yeah.
Dying your hair and piercing your ears doesn't exactly make you a rebel. Half the people who do that do it for personal taste.
And as it's personal taste, it's not exactly stupid either. It's their choice what they do with their body, judging them and calling them stupid, yeah, not gonna change much.

They use it as a way to show disrespect, which is not what I consider rebellion. The way I rebel is by questioning authority. Not believing everything they say. Not bothering with political correctness. And standing up for what I believe in, no matter what people say. That's rebellion.

yeah i don't really think that doing stuff like that is rebellion in most cases (of course i realize it is in some cases where the kids are so supressed their whole lives so they do crazy stuff to get back)

but most of my friends who dye their hair or get peircings/tattoos or whatever, aren't doing it to 'rebel' against anyone, most are doing it based on their personal taste or art.

for instance, i'm planning on getting a tattoo after christmas, i'm not doing it to get back at my parents or anything (my mother is completely against it though, but my father supports me and thinks its awesome) i'm doing it for artistic and personal reasons mainly.

I think if you're dying your hair/getting piercing etc to get back on someone or to rebel, you're doing it for the wrong reasons and you are going to regret it verrrry quickly

That's totally not rebellion. That's teenage self-expressionism. Really. I was just reading about adolescents and rebellion last night for psychology.

thats not rebellion, thats not stupid, and thats not ruining anyone's life.

Hair grows out fades back, and piercings grow up if not maintained.

its self expression, and people who have nothing better to do than judge people based on physical appearance, make me sick.

it just shows who you are
and sometimes you have to rebel
becuase your parents could be wanting you to do something you know is wrong so you have to rebel
sometimes we have to do what is wrong to do what is right

I think it is stupid because what if later you want to settle down and have a family. All those piercings can leave permanent scars and dying your hair different colors is just really weird (I also hate when girls color their hair or bleach it). Thats my opinion.

What do you think about Rebellion?

I have pink hair.
And each of my ears is pierced 5 times.
I'm looking into getting my nose done soon too.
Not because I'm a rebel.
I'm the farthest thing from it.
I just like the style.
Being "punk" or "goth" or "emo" doesn't make you a rebel.
That would be like a person saying they won't hire someone because they were a cheerleader and all cheerleaders are stupid.
It really makes me mad when people judge someone just by what's on the outside.
Because I get it all the time.
Just beacuse I dress the way I do doesn't mean I'm ugly or a bad person.

Sorry.
Ranting.
I just deal with stuff like that a lot.
