Reassure me....

I feel silly needing validation for this, but it's our last night on property and we won't get to go back next year, so the last meal we eat before coming home is very important to me - I want it to be a good one.

I just cancelled our ADR for Fulton's and have one for Yachtsman Steakhouse. We are also eating at Concourse and Le Cellier (where I'll be getting steak), Narcoossee's (where I'll be getting surf and turf), Coral Reef (not sure what I'll get there) and California Grill (where I plan to get the oak-fired filet or the pork tenderloin).

I really enjoy steak. I guess I'm looking for reassurance that YSH will be a great dining experience with great food since we're foregoing a seafood place and are seafood lovers. Honestly, we've always had good food there (at Fulton's), but last time (2003) we had mediocre-to-poor service, and my DSis says service is as much the draw of a restaurant for her as the food is, so great food with bad service would be something we'd really be upset about.

In the grand scheme of things, it's one meal. Our ADRs for the entire trip are as follows:
Prime Time*
Coral Reef*
California Grill*
Concourse
Hollywood Brown Derby
Hoop Dee Doo
Le Cellier*
Narcoossee's
Marrakesh
Yachtsman

Too much of the same thing? I know no one could tell me I'll like what I eat here (the ones with *s are ones we are returning to), but I just really want to make sure our last dining experience will be one with great food, great service, and leave us really glad we tried it.

Thanks for your input - sorry I'm so needy. :o

we were at YSH just a few weeks ago and it was fabulous! service was great and the food was perfect. my friend is not a big beef eater, but she said her filet was the best ever. go and enjoy!

YSH and Fulton's are two of my faves. You can't go wrong with either, IMO. Guess it all depends on what you want and it seems to me like you really want steak so YSH is a great choice!

If you would consider it affordable, and you bring the right clothes with you, why not try V&A. It is one of only 46 restaurants in the country which AAA has rated 5 Diamonds. Not only is the food wonderful, but the whole experience is. It would definitely be a memorable meal.

That's a good idea. I checked the price, and at $160 per person, that's out of our budget this trip. We have no problem paying OOP for great dining experiences, but DSis (the one I'll be sharing our last meal with alone while DMom watches DNiece in the room), said she can't afford too much for the OOP meal. She's paying for the DVC membership and takes me on all her trips with her, so I can't complain! :thumbsup2 ;) I love the idea of V&A's, and I'm sure we'll get there soon.

We too love the "final meal" concept and Ohana's is our favorite for that. DH, DS-19, DD-17 and I like being able to sit and enjoy conversation about all we've seen and done, the great food and then take the monorail over to MK for the final view of the fireworks show and the "closing of the park" since our flight is always first thing the next morning. WDW Here we come June 15:cool1:

I have dined at YSH 3 times in the past 3 years with my 4th visit booked for July. Every meal we have had there has been amazing.:thumbsup2

Be sure to try the horseradish potatoes...they are incredible. ;)

I forgot to add that if you go to YSH ask to be in "tall" Susan's section. She's a great server - we always ask for her.

I guess I'll be the dissenter...we ate there in January, and the meal was the pits. One of the very few times I've sent food back in my life.

Tasteless, gummy potatoes, flavorless meat, indifferent service! Terrible management. And the menu is a shadow of its former self. Nothing interesting on there any more!

This used to be a destination restaurant for us. Anniversary, birthday. No more.

I too was extremely disappointed in Yachtsman Steakhouse last October. I was so excited to be eating there again.
Although our service was good, the food was just plain not to our liking. It was adult DS and Dh and I. We each ordered something different and each of us were disappointed in our meal. It was the worst meal of our week.
We will not return.

Out of all of my trips, the only last night dinner I had that was any good was this past trip. Chefs Table at V&A's. The last dinner's I have had that were not so good: Yachtsman, Fultons, California Grill to name a few.

I was going to order the surf & turf at Narcooses this trip. While I am still working on my trip report before I get to food reviews, here is a little advice. Order whatever the Chef suggests. The food was AMAZING and he was not keen on the lobster/steak. It was just fairly pedestrian compared to what he does with the other items.

I really need to start on those reviews soon.
