Reassure me - UPDATE post 48

Wouldn't she have told us she's going offline? Her responses were getting shorter & shorter. :(

I'm here. I'm okay for now. I fell asleep - yes, sitting up at the computer. After some feeling around and pressing, I've figured out - the feeling in my upper chest/shoulders isn't tightness, it's a combination of numbness and muscle soreness. Still no explanation; I haven't done anything out of the ordinary, except Friday night I fell asleep face down with my forehead leaning on pillows stacked way too high for sleeping in that position.

I appreciate everybody's help and advice, truly. I feel safe going to bed now. Nothing's changed, especially, nothing's gotten worse. I'm breathing fine, both through my nose and my mouth. I'm carrying the cordless phone and the cell phone with me whenever I move out of this chair. I know with 100% certainty that if I did need to call 911, the fire department has access to a key that not only lets them into the building but also into the individual apartments, and that the station is only 1/4 mile from here; the police station is a half mile away, and as I said, the city's ambulance service is across the street.
My alarm is set for 7 AM, the doctor's office opens at 8, I just need to hit redial, plus it's programmed into my cell phone. I WILL be calling as soon as the office opens, even if I feel better!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you seem to be doing okay. Just in case make sure you call from your home phone not your cell if you do have to call and can't talk (which at this point sounds pretty unlikely) because it is easier to trace to your exact location.

You are being stupid! :lmao: (well I did what you told me ;))

In the future though---about that 911 and close fire depts....

Our 911 is whacky here. I called one night b/c I couldn't get up without risking passing out. It took them 15 minutes to get here. :sad2:

I live in the unincorporated and for some strange reason our 911 calls get routed OUT of area and then they have to patch back into the area to the fire department.

I'm glad I diagnosed myself before they arrived and it ended up not being the big emergency I thought it was. But 15 minutes for a station that was 2 minutes away was completely unacceptable.

Hope you feel better and all is well by morning!

I hope you got a good night's rest and are reading this healthy and comfortably:goodvibes Please update us when you have a chance--I worry and I think others do too;)

WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT if any symptom changes, i.e. gets worse - I go to the emergency room. This is per my conversation with the 'phone nurse' in the office'. I'm at work now, and my boss and the woman with whom I share a cubicle are aware of everything.

Too much time has lapsed. If your symptoms have not progressed I wouldnt be worrying about an emergent allergic reaction anymore. Doesn't mean something else isn't going on. Did they have you stop taking the medication?

Could your symptoms be anxiety related?

Good luck at the doctors tomorrow.

Thanks for updating us.

Of course you know, we are not at all happy you have to wait until tomorrow to see the doctor. Poor you....it's liking having a dozen worried mothers harping at you. :goodvibes

Thanks for the update. Yes, we were worried.

It could have been a reaction to the Chinese food. Just because you weren't allergic to MSG before doesn't mean one hasn't developed. People can get an allergy at any time. Or maybe the MSG had a drug interaction with your prescription meds. Hopefully, that's all it was.

Did they have you stop taking the medication?
I stopped it on my own yesterday. There are other meds, less effective but still good, that will do the same thing - I'll get one tomorrow.

Well I am glad you called the doctor and that you are at least feeling stable and up to working--that is a good sign. Now you just need to feel GOOD.
Good luck and I will be checking for that update tomorrow!

Thanks, everyone! My appointment is at 9:15, and I will need to leave directly for work from there to make up for the time I missed today - I left at 6:30 so I could get home before it got completely dark just in case I ran into trouble. I made it home fine. If I can sneak away for a few more minutes, like I did this afternoon, I will - otherwise it'll have to wait until I get home.

Interestingly, I realized I'm in MUCH more discomfort standing up than sitting or lying down; not my lips, of course, that doesn't change, but the numbness in my torso. This thread is helpful for two reasons - the advice and encouragement (yes, including Lisa loves Pooh calling me stupid ;) at my urging), as well as enabling me to make a list of my symptoms/complaints to bring to the doctor.

ETA: Diagnosis: muscle spasms, pressing against nerves (and stay away from MSG, and throw away the eggroll I haven't eaten yet; other than that, she can't explain the lip numbness :(). I have an appointment with a chiropractor tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's help, advice, and concern!

Looks like I'm going to live :teeth:
