I would like to try to rent a reasonable 3bdrm unit this summer. Does anybody have any idea where to even start looking.

There are very nice 3-bed condos at Windsor Palms. They start around $75/nite. Or for a little more you could rent a 3-bed pool home. They start around $100/nite. Check vrbo.com

www.hotelkingdom.com - look for Cypress Pointe or Cypress Pointe Grand Villas

I second this. For the same cost as staying in a Best Western in many cities you can stay in a 3br thru HK in a GREAT location (1 mile from Downtown Disney). It would be a great deal even if the furniture were a little worn from time but its over the top with renovated units with brand new carpet, mattresses, HDTV, dvd's and vhs --- surround sound. My checkin/checkout there was a breeze, no line. Staff were friendly, etc.

Another vote for Cypress Pointe.
We spent numerous hours checking into accomodations. . . .and quite happily booked at Cypress Pointe through HotelKingdom.
Reports from this board and tripadvisor were overall quite favorable and the price through HotelKingdom is unbeatable.
After a busy day in Orlando, we thoroughly enjoy staying somewhere that we can all comfortably unwind.
Good Luck in your planning!

I also recommend Hotel Kingdom, we got a 2BR at New Years, for $85/night. It is close to WDW.
