Reason why Sci Fi is so hard to get in August?

We are going August 5-19. Rather impromptu and just finished ADRs. We aren't looking for princess dining or OHana, and have been able to book everything we wanted ... Except for Sci Fi at DHS. S there a reason it is so much more popular than all the other restaurants?

Wow, surprising. We've managed a couple walk ups here and I wouldn't have guessed that it would be booked this far out. Perhaps a glitch in the system? Or free dining?

This is before free dining. I will call and ask.

It's hugely popular, kids love the cars and it's considered a more reasonable priced table service meal for those paying OOP.

Sci-Fi: Dark, air-conditioned.

I'm assuming you're talking about dinner at Sci-Fi (lunch is fairly easy to get I think). With Sci-Fi, it's a strange ADR situation. You're right about it always seeming booked up (and that's been true for me all months of the year), but I've noticed that cancelations there pop up there very, very frequently. Just by checking back each day, you should probably be able to get one, but if it's a must-do for your family, I'd recommend the Touring Plans Reservation Finder. It's free and all you have to do it is put in the restaurant, time/date/party details, then enter your phone number, and it will text you when it finds an ADR. Remember, it's your job to actually book it. Sci-Fi is one of my favorite WDW restaurants, so I highly recommend trying to get an ADR!

I checked lunch and dinner every day from August 5 - 19, and Sci Fi is listed as unavailable. Only other restaurants in that situation are CRT and OHana. Saw sporadic availability for askerhus and bog. It is not a must do, just a preferred location, but I've never before seen no availability and wondered if it was swept up in the other closures. Will keep checking. Mama lmelrose is fine and easily available.

We've noticed this before and even for our upcoming trip. I've never had any problem getting a good time or ADR in general at 50s, but Sci Fi is always gone or few and far between. I had to stalk for a decent time there for our upcoming trip.
