Reason for the clearing of brush

Was awakened yesterday by the sound of chainsaws and wood chippers. Talked to one of the workers and asked the reasoning behind the clear cutting. I was told the potato vine (new one to me) was taking over the campground and was choking out all the vegitation. With no other way to remove the vine, the state reccommended removing all the vegitation so the vine could be easily seen and removed when new sprouts came up. Another crew is planting new bushes in various areas but mostly down the access roads into the campgrounds.

Big group of campers down the street with signboards calling themselves the Redneck RV Club. Don't appear they've got a lick of sense. My kind of people. May have to join since I come from the Redneck Riveria of Florida. They're even official here at the park with their own website. WWW.RedneckRVClub.com.

Quite brisk this morning at FW, sure would be nice to have a campfire out back. High 40's this morning with below freezing just north of us.

Guess sometime this weekend I've got to travel into town to find a liquor store. With all this cold weather, my personal antifreeze supply is getting low. Gotta find a sale on Crown somewhere. Wife must be into the bottle again, I can't believe I've consumed that much in two nights.

Howdy, Capt!!! Don't dismay about the lower temps. The cold front passed thru last night & temps will be back into the mid-70's to low 80's by later today.

ABC Liquor store can be found on S Apopka Vineland Rd. Directions: Take a left out of either Fort exits (Buena Vista Drive), follow this until it "T's" into Winter Garden Vineland Rd (aprox 2 miles), turn right. Go approx 3 miles to second traffic light, which is S Apopka Vineland Rd, turn left. Go approx 3/4 of a mile - ABC Liquors will be on the right at the corner of S Apopka Vineland Rd and Lake St. This is a free standing building in the corner of a plaza with a Winn-Dixie Grocery Store - - - so, you can pick up your snacks to go with the Crown!! If you smoke - there's a tobacco shop in the same plaza.

Just a hint ---- at the NW corner of Winter Garden Vineland Rd & S Apopka Vineland Rd is an Ale House Restaurant & Sports Bar. I highly recommend it. It's easier to turn into on the way back from the liquor store due to a median.:thumbsup2

We otter put a thread up giving directions to all interesting places -- well liquor & beer stores and sports bars are a good start. Will it be warm when I get there? It's32 here now, but no snow. Tomorrow night's game will be in the 20s. Gotta take a lotta antifreeze along!

BTW Welcome CaptKen. You'll get along well on this board if the first thing you want to do is go to a liquor store. Color me impressed!

As we all know, there are important supplies you take to FW and there is IMPORTANT supplies. Just thought that extra large bottle of Crown would go further than it did. But it did give its life for a worthy cause.

Temp's are great today. Took the grandkids for a tour on the golfcart giving the wife some quiet time to shower and relax. Probably return to shorts today. Last night at the MK, it was just right. Just a bit cool but not cool enough for a jacket.

Sure could have used that bottle at MK yesterday. Due to the fact that I'm not as young as I use to be factor, I'm now heavier on the left leg by two plates and fifteen screws. Off crutches for just over a month and everything went well at Epcot on Thursday. Just took it slow and sat when possible. Saturday with the grandkids at MK, I thought I was dying. Every muscle below the knee revolted. Overdosed on ibuprofen and made it through the day. Saving MGM for tomorrow and seriously thinking about a motorized wheelchair.

Go for the wheelchair....why kill yourself when you can cruise in style and comfort, you aint gotta prove anything to anyone but yourself...and a day with grandkids at MK AND another in Epcot should be all the proof YOU need. Besides...you KNOW the grandkids will be dying for you to take bathroom breaks so they can ride the wheelchair while your not on it!!:thumbsup2

They were across from us during the week of July 4th. They won 1st place in the golf cart decorating contest. The photo on their web site of the golf cart is the winning entry...wouldn't have been my choice for first place. I guess the judges were going for the novel approach of the name of the group and appropriate theming on the golf cart.

CaptKen, I gotta ask are you from the same Redneck Riveria of Florida as me? Our list of important stuff sound familar!!:lmao:

Captain Ken gets my vote for rookie of the month in November. No incessant questions, and he's a drunkard like the rest of us.

Hey Gatordad, I resemble that remark.
Yep Grumpy, just a bit east of ya'll on Panama City Beach

To my surprise, I have found out what my limit for FW is. Seven days. Last stay was five nights and felt like I was leaving too early. At seven days, I was ready to head out. So I guess six is the perfect number for us. Think we'll skip a year and maybe go to the Keys next year.

Does anyone know if there is a road going thru the golf course into FW? The reason I ask this is, the kids bought me a Tom Tom earlier in the year and while playing with it, it kept trying to turn me into the golf course when returning our campsite on Jack Rabbit Run.

If anyone knows it's Gatordad. But then again, he probably blazed the trail himself! He makes his own pullthroughs.

There is a service road/bridge between the two sides of the canal, but I don't think there are connecting roads.

Google Maps

Nope.... nothing directly connecting FtW to the golf course. (Unless Gatordad created one on his recent trip!)

There is an unpaved service road between the GC & FtW that Tom-Tom may have been trying to site in on.

I only am responsible for all the new pull thru sites. I'll have to check out these new trails with the golf cart. what is a Tom Tom?

is that how you found the alleged "otters"

CaptKen I Thought you had to be close !!:lmao: :lmao: To Redneck Capital!
