I have questions about the Romantic Escape At Sea package:
  • How far in advance can this packge be booked?
  • Is it available on both the Magic & Wonder?
  • How much does it cost?
  • What is included in the package?
  • What other types of special packages does DCL offer as add-ons?

I'm not an expert on this by any means, but I will be booking this package for our cruise this summer, so I've been doing a lot of research on it :)

I'll the answer the best I can! :)

1. Currently they are booking this package for cruises through Dec. 2004. I believe I recently read that they aren't booking this package yet for 2005 cruises. (of course this could change at any time!)

2. According the DCL brochure AND their web site, it is available for 7 night cruises, and ALSO 3 and 4 night cruises, so that would mean it's available on both ships. (However, this package is not for Land & Sea cruises, only cruises booked alone).

3. The cost is $299. per couple.

4. Here's what's included:

On board, you'll receive:
- Romantic gift amenity delivered to your stateroom (one per package)
- Couples massage at the Vista Spa & Salon
- Priority seating at Palo for one night
- Romance turndown service (one night)
- Champagne breakfast in bed (one morning)

5. Here's a link to the page on the DCL web site that explains ALL of their add-on packages: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...specialoffersrootindex?id=SpecialPackagesRoot

Hope this helps! :sunny:

So, if I'm planning on booking our Nov 2004 cruise today, I should be able to add the package right away?

And do I have to add the package through my TA or do I have to call DCL directly?

Also, when I click the link you provided it's not taking me to a valid page :(

It's a problem on Disney's end, I got the same error message too. Their page with the Romantic Escape at Sea info is working at the moment, here it is: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...ecialofferindex?id=RomanticEscapeSpecialOffer

When you go to that page, look to the left and you will see all of the packages listed. You can click on each one from there.

I'd say yes, you should be able to add this package for November 2004, right away when you book. I think you have to go through the travel agent if you booked through one.

Does REAS include gratuities? If not, wouldn't all these services be about another $100 in tips alone?

Sure..if you're a big tipper!! ;) Wouldn't you tip anyway for Palo and the spa and room service, though, even if you didn't book the REAS? ::yes::

Just my thoughts. - Mike
I was thinking another $ 15 for Palo (since they already get 20 from the extra fee that is included in the REAS (10 per person). This makes a total of 35 (nice tip for a 100 to 200 meal) If they give me exceptional service, maybe 20. If lousy service of course they will receive nothing extra.

For the spa, I have never been before but was planning on tipping around 15 to 20 for this as well (for both of us). That only leaves the breakfast which I thought I would give $5 to $10. So the total tips after I have paid the 299 REAS package comes to less than 50 depending on service. - Mike

I need to know this too!

And, on gratuities for Palo and the spa...
is this something that is given in the
white envelopes the last day OR upon
services rendered?

You can book it through your TA or call DCL. It is charged immediately to your Credit Card. Even though we used AAA to book our cruise, I made the REAS package directly with DCL. For your tips at Palo and the Spa, you can pay in cash for the tips or have it charged to your onboard account - No white envelopes for Palo or the Spa. - Mike

If you originally booked through DCL then you can add on using DCL. If you used a TA, then your TA must book the REAS package.

The Disney brochure clearly states that you can add the REAS for a 3 day land / 4 day sea package. Just lately Disney has been trying to say that you can't. I had my TA fight for me and they added it.

felixdacat - I did not have to use AAA to book my REAS package even though I used them to book my cruise. In fact, they know nothing about my REAS package. In fact my DB and DSIL just booked theirs last week. I gave them the DCL number and instructions. They do not even know my AAA travel agent as I booked all of the cabins. - Mike

Possibly there is an exception with AAA, or perhaps you called at a 'good' moment.
From all I've read on these boards, and my own personal experience, DCL doesn't like to book the REAS if you originally booked the vacation through a TA.
However, this may be another case that if your persistant enough, DCL will cave.

Our TA just told me that I "need" to book the package directly with DCL....guess I'll try giving them a call later this week to find out for myself. ;)

Is the couples massage in the same treatment room? Do you have to do the couples massage in the spa or can you do the cabana massages on Castawy Cay? I would book this for sure but we kind of had our hearts set on the Castaway Cay massage.

Has anyone else used a TA to book their cruise and then booked the REAS package themselves through DCL? When I called DCL, I gave them my credit card number and they told me I would receive a letter 30 days out with a number to call to set up my Palo and Spa times (I still have not received the letter). I then called Debbie (Dining Room Coordinator) and told her I had booked the package and she made my reservations. Since it worked for me, I also had my DB do the same procedures. It is possible that this is not standard procedure - it is just the way we did it. It also just showed up on my credit card $ 299 - OUCH - but it will be worth it. - Mike
