REAS package for May 8th Western

This was well worth the price of 299 for us. I haven't had time to read the posts since I have been back but this price surely has gone up.

The Romance basket was nice and we ended up drinking the champagne on Thursday.

The massages were to die for. This was my first and I enjoyed it tremendously. They do try to sell you items and my wife did purchase some - she needed them anyway (ouch). I enjoyed my massage enough to schedule another one and then another one right after my second one was finished (If I can not have back to back cruises, then I guess back to back massages will have to suffice).

Palo was excellent with excellent service as well as as the food - the pizza, calamari, filet etc etc). Just wish I could have had a bigger appetite. The turndown service was nice with rose petals everywhere. Made for a nice evening.

Breakfast in bed again turned out just as planned. I just wished they did not bring each side order on a separate plate. Nine plates of food seemed a little excessive. It was nice to sleep in one day and there was plenty of food for DW as well as DS.

One word of warning. You will notice that the massage and Palo will hit your on-board account even though you prepaid it with the REAS package. Guest services said it takes a few days to match up the fees with the REAS package for the fees to be deducted from your accounts. My was taken care of but just something to be aware of.

Thanks for the review! I just booked REAS and made my reservations. DH is not exactly excited about the massage. With his constant backpain I think he's going to love it. I am going to show him this thread!

Thanks again!

Erin :D

I'm planning on adding the REAS package as soon as they offer them for the 2005 CA cruises. I finally talked my husband into getting a full body massage and he absolutely loved it! I've been a spa junkie for many years (I don't go as often as inkkognito even though I'd like to) and he's finally starting to admit that he enjoys the pampering too. I did tell him not to subject a poor massage therapist to his ugly "E.T." feet by getting a reflexology massage unless he agrees to get a pedicure beforehand. LOL.

My husband really enjoyed the massage as well. He especially enjoyed Marcia. Said she did a really good massage. (He had two massages while on board).

I have to agree with you about the breakfast. We also did not realize that they include everything on separate plates. Whenever the room service showed up with about 12 plates of food, I was mortified. Needless to say, we wasted a ton of food because of this. I also didn't realize that when you order eggs, you get bacon, etc with it. We ordered the eggs, then separate bacon, etc and thus, plate loads of food arrived. I'm sure they thought we were a family of 10 !:faint:

CAMICCKEY, Thanks for the report. It is nice to have the male perspective. I would love to do the couples massage, but DH is too embarassed to "get naked" in front of these young therapist. I am so sure he would truly love it if he would just give it a chance. I'll have him read your post. Thanks.

I got a chuckle from the "back to back massages". I'm sure the pun was intended.

Glad you enjoyed the experience. How badly did they "soak you" for the lotions and potions? Was it a "hard sale"? I am such a sucker for a sales pitch!!!

Thanks for the review, Mike.

I have a couple questions:

1) Which of the two massages in the REAS would you recommend for guys to start with? (eg their first massage)

2) Did the extras of ordering the REAS help much (getting meal times, etc)?

3) How were you able to reserve your Palo and Spa times before the cruise?

4) What max price will you pay for it again if the prices go up?

Thanks again!!

EmmasGrammy - I wore my bathing suit the entire time the first two massages and then nothing for the 3rd one. It allowed them to get lower on the back better and believe me it felt so good.

Greysword -
1) Which of the two massages in the REAS would you recommend for guys to start with? (eg their first massage). We did the spa taster and I enjoyed the scalp massage. This is the one I would recommend for first timers.

2) Did the extras of ordering the REAS help much (getting meal times, etc)? Oh Yes. We got the exact things at the exact times we preferred.

3) How were you able to reserve your Palo and Spa times before the cruise? After making our REAS reservations, I called Debbie about 30 days before our cruise and made the Palo and SPa reservations.

4) What max price will you pay for it again if the prices go up? I know the massage we had was 89 individually and I think the new price is 109, so I would be willing to do this again for 349 but I hope they keep the price at 299 for everyone. - Mike

Were you hesitant about your first massage? DH, who is a big Seinfield fan is afraid of "it moved" ....

I just booked REAS for us, so he'll have to get over it. How can you not enjoy a massage???

we were on the 5/13 wonder and did a couples massage for $242!!! we should have booked the REAS!

It was great - thanks for the info regarding the charging of your account. I am planning on booking the REAS for our December trip but I don't know if I can handle the hassle!

We were on this same cruise.

My DH and I had a couple's message on our anniversary.

It was his first - my many - too many to count. I was so pleased he agreed! He wore his underwear..... if anyone cares

So - I get him in there - we have a couples message right next to each other :crowded:  :lovestruc

It's all done, the two gals exit, we put our robes on, we are so relaxed and are in heaven.

Enter the heavy duty sales pitch - 2 gals at the same time jibbering to us indivdually. :chat:

:o

They freakin needed to give us another message just to relieve the tention from that sales pitch! My DH just started laughing and said just that! He said - "I am not very good with products and my circulation is just fine thank you very much!" ;)

Wow, I can't believe how everyone raves about the spa. Not to play devil's advocate. And, I really hesitate to post this. I was on the same cruise and I thought our spa experience was poor. My dh and I did the full body massage but separately (not the couple's massage). The spa I go to around here includes the head as part of the massage. But the girl on the disney cruise said it wasn't included. When my dh went and he flip over for the front side she only did his arms and very little of the legs. He said like she was almost embarrassed. Then, he started questioning her about her spa experience and he discovered she wasn't even a REAL masseuse. She told him that she went to a special beauty school for cruise lines. Basically, she told him that she got a basic introduction to all the different spa treatments offered on cruises. The final straw came when she started complaining about her job. And, difficult the hours were, how awful the food was, and how she missed home, etc... Almost like she was trying to get a better tip. It really left a bad taste in his mouth. My dh ended up cancelling the rest of his spa appointments. Just thought I would warn those just in case you get her.

Ewww! After paying for the message and then listening to that? I hope that she was NOT yaking to your DH DURING the message.....otherwise we need to add to our DIS packing list - along with the over the door shoe holder ...some ear plugs for the spa treatments!

I had the spa taster (after already having a facial two days earlier) and my DH had exactly what you described....but snored right through it :hyper:

Glad you enjoyed the REAS, CAMICKEY!!!

Tom also enjoyed it and since it all came as a surprise to him - it was doubly enjoyable.

We didn't talk during our massage, but we did hold hands!!!!

Rae

Rae, what type of massage did the 2 of you get?

So, the head is NOT included in the well being massage, only the spa taster?

What was the girls name who complained about her job?

Thanks Rae - We really did enjoy it. Did not hold hands but we certainly did later after our Palo dinner and the turn down service. What is life without a little romance - and a verandah - with a blanket.

To all others. Yes I was a little worried about getting my first massage. If you ask me it was needless worrying. I wore my swimsuit all three times but the last time I should have just removed it as it allows them to get the lower back are better. As it was, I pulled them almost all the way down anyway. Oh and by the way, I did not have any "movement". - Mike

Just the back.

I'd like to know who the girl was also. Just always remember the Spa staff are not Disney people.

And to CAMickey - you rock!!!!!!!!!

It was nice to see you in line at the DCL terminal (and to guess who you were) even though we didn't speak much afterwards. Just to let you know, we also had the REAS pkg. and DH and I did the spa taster. It was the first spa experience for both of us. My DH loved it also!! He thought the facial/scalp massage was the BEST!! He is ready for another cruise and another facial!!

The 2 girls with us in the spa did not pressure us at all regarding the products. They just explained what they had used and left us alone! I guess they're all different.

nursegardener - I'm glad both of you enjoyed it also. It certainly was pleasurable and extremely hard to get up from the table. You just want to lay there and soak in the relaxation. I can see why some people just fall asleep. It was hard talking to all of the Dis'ers as there is so much to do on the ship and it really is a big ship. I will fondly remember those I met and the cruise experience we all enjoyed together. - Mike
