Really upset! bad Update - p. 3, post 35

Does the Bruins have an online sale thing? Our local professional clubs all allow you to sell your tickets online and the new buyer can just print them at their home. The old bar code is disabled and a new one is issued on the new tickets.

That way it does not matter where the person lives.

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself over ruining his Bday, because I dont think you did. IT's not your fault that he has to work.

It sounds like this was a great gift that he would have really enjoyed. "Stuff" happens, and its unfortunate that it wont work out but I would think you get an A+ in the "it's the thought that counts" category.

Well, it's just been put in our local paper that they are working through the weekend. I'm just so disheartened. I really feel like I blew it on dh's birthday; and wasted a lot of money to do it. I'm not quite sure how to make it up to him.

Since you have already spent the money, what are you going to do? Do you have friends or relatives you can give this too? Do you belong to church that knows of a needy couple that could use a getaway? I know, I know - you two were the couple that needed the get away right? So sorry that it didn't work out for you this time. Maybe if you could let someone else have the tickets and things that you cannot cancel or return, you would feel better that it did not totally go to waste.

All I have to say is that you should all get into the entertainment business!

My husband and I met at a small studio and we had plans one Saturday to get up really early and get in line for KISS tickets. We were both asked to come into work that day to open up shop and work. We explained what we were doing, and we were asked to come in anyway. So, we did and the VP bought us 7th row tickets to see KISS as a thank you.

At one job, if you have to give up vacation time due to work, you get reimbursed. There is rarely any asking to be done since vacation time is requested months off in advance and they know when you've bought tickets/hotels. Usually, something is worked out so that everyone is happy, and it usually is to the employees' benefit.

I've gotten bonus time off at a previous job for working weekends. I've been given nights in luxury hotels as thank yous.

My current job is different, as time off is approved way in advance and there is not a reason that would make anyone miss vacation as we are all cross-trained here. Well, except the time my boss had vacation planned and I ended up in the hospital. He didn't have travel plans but had to come in. I still feel bad about that.

Anyway, OP: Why on EARTH do you think you've done one single thing wrong? You've planned a fabulous birthday and it isn't your fault that the job got in the way. I'm so, so sorry it hasn't worked out for both of you, but that is no reason to feel down on yourself.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. I've tried to find somebody to enjoy it, but no one can. Plus I keep hoping, stupidly I guess, that something is going to change. My dh told his boss who said "oh, that's too bad" and that was it.

Sounds like my DH's boss. :headache:

Did you call to cancel the hotel? They may work with you and apply the $$$ to another weekend stay if they won't refund, or give you the $$$$ back in a gift certificate. That way you and dh can go another weekend to celebrate and at least you won't loose the money for the hotel.

Finally, some good news. Thank you to those who pushed me to call the hotel. I really thought there was no way to get our money back bc I used hotwire. Well, thanks to the good people there and at the Langham hotel, they refunded all $300 which is a huge weight off my shoulders. Now if I could find decent tix for 4/10 without breaking the bank, I'll see if I can still change the date of the zamboni ride to then. Thanks all for your support! Anyone have any recommendations re tix?

You might want to try going over to Ticketmaster. They now have the option of resale right on their website. I bought Bruins tickets that way a few months back and I actually got them for less than face value. You would not have to deliver the tickets either. When I bought mine I just printed out the ticket from my computer and they scanned it when I got to the game. Good luck.
