I know they say there is no such think as a stupid question, but I think this would qualify, since I am sure I already know the answer.

I know that I will need to stay on the concierge level at AKL, but my question is;

In order to do the Sunrise Safari do they take a day off of your hopper pass in addition to the tour fee?

Thanks

That was a great question...bet it helped someone else who might have wondered the same thing.

Now here's MY stupid question., if you don't mind my asking. LOL What is a Sunrise Safari?

Is it something just for AKL members? Is it available just for concierge level guests?

It's only available to guests staying at AKL concierge. It only happens on Tuesday and Saturday and costs about $50 for adults and about $25 for kids. You can reserve up to 90 days ahead.

The Sunrise Safari is an extended version of the Kilimanjaro Safari ride in Animal Kingdom. The SS is only available on Tuesday and Saturday mornings to concierge level guests. There's a fee of $49.95/adult and $24.95/children ages 3-10. Two years and under are free. The SS lasts for approximately 45 minutes to one hour, sometimes longer. After the safari you get to go to Tusker House in Animal Kingdom for a special buffet breakfast, which is included in the price.

WOW! That sounds neat...yet another reason lots of people would choose to stay concierge I imagine!

It was a major reason we stayed at the concierge level. But when we were there in August the conciege ladies (sorry I can't remember their names) were saying they were probably going to open it up to all AKL guests. It was wonderful and I would do it again.

On hour without access to a bathroom is too long for me. I guess that counts me out!

I think it's unlikely that they will open it to all AKL guests unless the program is greatly expanded, e.g. to seven day a week instead of just two as currently.

My impression is that it easily sells out among concierge guests, and what's more a significant fraction of concierge guests choose concierge specifically to have access to this tour. In other words it's already quite a cash cow.

What a great question and subsequent replies!

I have never heard of this, and now, after reading this thread, I kind-of wish that we had chosen the AKL concierge level when we were making plans for this trip (that starts tomorrow!!! woo-hoo!!!).

Sigh...I'll guess we'll just have to enjoy the Animal Kingdom like non-AKL guests. :D

All in all, that's just fine -- I'm heading to Disney!

Kungaloosh!

You aren't kidding! :teeth:

We've taken other backstage tours and we NOW know NOT to drink a lot of fluids several hours before going on our little trips. LOL LOL
