Really stupid question about magic bands

If you are staying offsite, do you still get magic bands? If not, what are they scanning at the rides? A card of some sort? Thanks!

If you want Magic Bands, you can buy them from the gift shops. They're about $13 for the plain colors, more for the special designs. If you don't want to buy them, you use your plastic ticket card to scan for fast passes. If you bought tickets online and don't have a plastic card, you can stop by a ticket office and they'll give you one.

You can also use an MB from a previous trip if it is recent enough that the battery is still working. You'd just link any paper media to it.

You don't need a magic band. A card is just fine. I always stay on site I'm a dvc member and I never use the magic band.
