the days of people getting up to let the elderly or small kids have a seat on the bus or boats are gone.... I just returned and not once did I see any offerings, it's sad. And yes I did as a young female offer up my seat anytime I could!

Not for this old f@rt they're not. Although technically 'elderly', being born in 1950 puts me in that class, I still stand for the obviously pregnant, decrepit elderly (not me!) or anyone with small children. I've actually encountered some attitude from those so offered, as though I was in the wrong for applying my out of date upbringing to the 21st century.

They aren't gone. I've seen it every time I've been there. Sometimes we'd offer to get up for others and sometimes others offered their seats to us as well. It's definitely not completely nonexistent. But I'm one who doesn't think it's something to get all that upset about. If I get on a bus with no seats holding 2 kids I'm fully prepared to stand and I don't expect anyone to offer me their seat. If they do I'm grateful, but it's not something I think they should have to do. I always have the option of waiting for the next bus if I want to be able to sit down.

I know what you mean. I have seen people do this sort of thing. I would accept an offer of kindness that was given to me. I like it when doors are opened for me and seats are opened to me. I like good manners. Some people are so silly sometimes.

Whats sad is when people think they are entitled to a seat on a bus.

If you NEED a seat wait for the next bus or get a cab. It's incredibly rude to expect that some tired person with sore feet who has been waiting longer than you for a bus should have to give up their seat. So rude.

Are these the same people who hit you with the stroller and act like its your fault ?

Maybe they are the same people who get in line then have the whole family cut once they get to the front of the line.

I cant stand up on the bus as I have a very bad knee but my gf will get up every time as is the polite thing to do.

I've never come across someone who felt entitled to a seat but if the person is elderly and clearly has a reason they should sit its a polite thing to do.

Honestly that's a big problem in this country everyone only cares about themselves.

I bet your the kind of guy who when someone holds a door open you say nothing.

I actually personally often give up my seats on a bus because it is polite. But unlike you I choose to not judge those who do not.

It's sad how judgmental people have become.

Those days aren't gone. if you choose to give up your seat for someone else, cheers to you! You're setting a good example for others. I'm all about personal responsibility. lots of people have to stand on WDW buses. If you can't stand, rent an ECV or a car.

I think it's safe to say that at the end of the day or night at a Disney park, everyone is tired, with sore feet, knees, hips, etc. Most people are at the threshold of their tolerance level with little patience left. Everyone is just done. Having said that though, where I live most boys are raised to give up their seats to the elderly & women, no matter how tired they are, & most definitely to open doors for them also. That doesn't mean they all do it (but I would bet they do in front of their parents at least), but my DH does & so does my DS. Neither one would think of letting a door slam on someone or not giving up their seat. It's just the way they both have been taught growing up. Now I have many times boarded the bus & no one gave up their seats for me or my DD. Obviously being use to the men in the area where I live doing so, I was a tad disappointed, but not upset or angry. Everyone is raised differently & like I mentioned everyone is tired after the parks, I understand. However, I do have to admit to getting a bit of a giggle when during a turn I came very close to landing onto of the "gentlemen's" laps that stared at the floor & didn't offer anyone woman, child, or elderly person their seat. His face was priceless, for me I righted myself & laughed.

My hubby or I will give up our seat or Put our kids on our laps to make extra room but only for very elderly, very pregnant, or a mom holding a sleeping child or infant. However, I also think that if you really need a seat for good reason you can just wait for the next bus. Don't get on with the expectation of someone giving you a seat. When it comes to Disney busses, sometime you luck out and sit, other times you stand. Just how it is.
