I had accidentally ordered 3 DS games that DS already had (HOW can anyone keep track of them!) from Amazon. One was on Black Friday, so I missed the 30 day return...and frankly I didn't want to mess w/ returning the other. Also DD had gotten 2 copies of New Moon.
Took them all in...w/ both DH & my driver's lisence #,I was able to get store credit (yes, $70/lisence/yr)...here's the klinker...
I ACTUALLY MADE MONEY!!! I got that Club Penguin for $10...
I'd feel bad EXCEPT my Target Black Friday order I KNOW I got free shipping...yet the charged me BIG s/h...and of course it doesn't show that online. ($12 to ship that huge nerf gun thing that was on special for $25!)
So I figure we are even;)NOT like they don't get enough of my $!!!!!

Did you contact Amazon about returning outside of their 30 day window?

I ordered a Beatles Rock Band game from Amazon back in September for a Christmas present and it ended up being a duplicate. I contacted Amazon via email a few days ago and explained that I had done my Christmas shopping early and not only did they NOT give me a hassle about returning it, but they emailed me a return label. They may deduct the shipping from my refund, but at least they took it back.

Amazon has an extended return policy for the holidays starting for anything you ordered on Nov 1st and on. I waited until then purposely to order a gift because of the policy, which goes into January.

Are you sure your whole order should have been free shipping? Sometimes Target.com has weird rules like you have to buy $X worth of stuff from the same category, or it's ONLY items from a certain department, etc. Once, I looked up some toys for my daughter's birthday, and I could get SOME of them shipped free, but some of them did not qualify for free shipping.

You actually returned items that you bought from another store and returned them at Target and because you feel you were over charged by Target on some shipping you are okay with making a profit on this return?!?! Alrighty then. Sorry, but I just don't think that is right.

I agree neither do I.

Me neither and this is the reason that so many retailers are getting stricter with their return policy. The OP took back a $10 item and got probably $34 or $35 for it because "Target owes her". More entitled behavior that is a big problem in this society.

I agree, nothing like bragging when you are basically stealing from a store.

She's not stealing from the store.

She returned an item without a receipt - Target gave her what they feel is fair market value for the item and in turn will sell that item - most likely for more than they refunded to her b/c they gave her the lowest selling price in their store over the last 90 days.

She didn't buy it at Target, she bought it from Amazon. That to me is stealing.

I COMPLETELY agree! I received 2 Wii games - I don't have receipts. I would NEVER consider taking them back to a store that they didn't come from. I simply sold them on Amazon - sure - I "could have" got about $20 more for the 2 of them had I been dishonest about it, but what would that have taught anyone that knew about it? I often have children from my church around - I want them to see me acting moral ALL the time, not just some of the time.

When I get an item and I am not sure where it comes from - I take it back to a store that I am sure sells it. When my kids get toys, vidoes, games, etc and I don't know where they are from - I am honest and tell Wal-Mart. They don't care. I am then forced to spend the money in their store and more than likely will spend more than I got back. Target has put in place the credit limit for returns without a receipt to stop fradulent returns. If Target were not able to resell the item - they would not have given her store credit for it.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. To me - I see it as her selling it to Target at a price they are willing to pay and she is paid in Target dollars which she will then have to use in their store. Target will sell the item she returned and everyone will be happy.

I guess we will, to me its the principle and its sad that it seems to be lacking so much these days.

I am pretty solid on my principles...I am sure there are things you do that would make me feel like you do about this. There are always gray areas that people will disagree on.

We agreed to disagree, should be the end of it right? :confused3

I agree. I don't think of it as "stealing" but I certainly don't think it is something to brag about. To each his own:confused3

oh bologna! she is not stealing. Target got the product that they can resale for what they gave her in return credit if not more being they give you the lowest price on the item that they had have it at in the last 90 days.

last time I looked Target sold through amazon.

Oh, come one y'all! Do you really think Target is seeing it as that much of a problem???

They will resale the product. They possibly earned a customer or at least made a sale (most people that take items to return will go ahead and "pick up a few things while there")

Target and Walmart are not stupid, they allow these things to happen for a reason. It is a marketing strategy on their part.

No one is stealing anything.

BTW, I have returned some items that I bought Black Friday and no longer have the receipt for. The credit I received was for more than I paid for the items too; because they gave me the amount the item is selling for now if the product had been selling for less than the amount I paid for it, I would have received less credit than I paid for it (well, in theory. I would have probably tried a bit harder to find the receipt had that been the case)
