Really dumb DCL questions

I thought I saw someone mention this the other day.....is it true that if you book a cruise on DCL for 1 person, there's no 'single supplement' if you use points?

This falls under the heading of 'you'd think I'd know this by now', but I normally don't use points for non-DVC options. The rule of four....does that mean if I have a June UY, I would not be able to take a cruise on points in Feb, March, April or May?

Thanks!

the rule of 4 means you can't both "book and take" a cruise during that 4 month window. so you can book a cruise 10 months out (if available) that takes place in march...just can't book a may cruise in february.

(no idea on the single supplement...but good question.)

You can book a cruise 24 months out.

There is a single supplement. I'm not sure what the original poster meant when she said she only had to use points for one person. The points chart indicates that the points are based on double occupancy. So you would not need to double the points for one person, but likely 1.5 or 1.75 them.

There definitely is a single supplement when paying with points. We just did it August 2 for Alaska. DD wanted to come but had no takers to sail with her, so we did the single supplement. A bit of a savings off of 2 adults, but not much less. Probably would not spring for it again, unless it was last resort as this was. :)

You didn't ask me!:lmao: I would have been happy to pay for my share of the stateroom!

LOL! DD's fiance could not make it due to work, and my other DD could not go, again because of work. After waiting a length of time to determine if either of those would come through, we gave up and booked the single.

So DH and I are doing the next two cruises without family. Just the empty nesters, lol..

Thanks, everyone. I seem to have an excess of points these last couple of years, have been looking for something a little different to do, and a cruise sounds intriguing. I'll probably rent the points and go for a cash booking.

Now I have to go get educated on cruising! :)

Disney's single supplement on the cruise is pretty high.
Since you are renting the points there are other cruiselines with some dedicated single cabins.
