Really don't want to dine alone!

You are correct..you did not divulge if you were a "him or her"...I guess I jsut assumed when you mentioned "after dinner expectations" you were a him....I dont think most "hers" would make that comment

"Solo" should not be inferred as "Single"...marrieds can travel "solo"...

I'm sorry. I was just trying to get a spark out of this thread. I really did not want to portray an attitude. I will be at the bistro Oct 17, 8 PM and will look for a dinner companion before then, unless I "chicken out".
I dine alone quite often when on business trips, always in a restaurant that has a sit-at bar that will serve dinner at the bar. Disney, being a very family oriented place, doesn't appear to have that same type of atmosphere for dining alone the way I fell comfortable with. I am a family person and sort of feel funny sitting by myself at a table alone, around other couples and families. I know i think to myself when we see someone sitting alone at dinner, what their story is and why they are there alone.

Well, I am dining alone at Narcoosees...its a great place..with a bar, not sure if you can eat at it though (?)...Dont feel funny..people only look or notice if you have a screaming toddler during dinner!! lol Never been to the Bistro so I am not sure how it is set up. I do hear servers are great though.

I've been to G.F. maybe a dozen times, but have never been to Narcoosees. Always heard good reviews. Tried every other restaurant at G.F. though. All excellent! Sometimes we just sit in the lobby and listen to the piano player and the big time swing bands for hours during xmas holidays. G.F. is my favorite Disney hotel. I won't have time to enjoy the G.F. this time as I am on a very tight schedule. I will be flying overseas late the 17th.

i'm pretty sure you can sit down at the tune in lounge (50's prime time cafe) bar to eat. i saw many people doing it when i was there. don't know if you're looking for more upscale though.

Captain Jack's in DTD by the Rain Forest has a really nice but casual bar you could enjoy so does the Rain Forest. Most of the restaurants in DTD have sit and eat at bars now that I think about it. Most of the deluxe resorts also have bars you could eat at. California grill would be a nice relaxing atmoshpere to enjoy solo with a nice bar.

California Grill and Jiko has bar type seating next to the open kitchen.
The Japanese Sushi/Tempura should be open by the 17th also which is a bar type setting.

I might have time to check out the Ca Grille, but I was there in June for drinks and the observation deck fireworks thing. Very expensive for when you eat there. I am planning on staying in Epcot for the evening, and really want to do the wine/food festival to the fullest extent possible. I might consider the Tempura instead of the Bistro. Is it like a BennyHanahs (excuse the spelling)?

There are two parts to the Japanese Restaurant: The teppanaki grill and the sushi/tempura side. Before the renovations the tempura side was a bar like set up where you could watch the chefs make sushi and tempura. The new set up might be set up a bit differently but it still should have somewhere where you can watch the sushi chefs at work. I'm planning on stopping by either the 15th or 17th to eat some sushi/tempura there.

If you do the food/wine festival booths right, you could easily make a nice meal out of the offerings there too.

If you are doing the Food and Wine festival I wouldn't even bother making dining reservations, there are just to many booths and to much food all around the World Showcase, and even if you sample just a few you will not have a whole lot of room left for an expensive dinner....just my opinion though.

Yes, i know what you are saying, been there and done that before. When i was down at the festival 10 yrs ago, the vendors seemed to close up around 5 - 6 PM. Is that so now? I will have back-up res. just in case.

The booths will be open until park close, and from what I've heard through evening extra magic hours too
