Does anyone have any motion sickness remedies that they swear by? Almost every time I fly, I get sick and am flying to WDW in April and dread the flight. I am in the medical profession and have tried the following(not all at the same time
;) ): dramamine, bonine, Transderm patches, phenergan and alcohol. They usually don't work. I have bought the wrist bands but I am skeptical of them so they probably won't work. Has anyone ever tried ginger capsules and if so how many did you take. Also, I have a friend who recommends green apples during the flight
Thanks for any and all ideas!

I have been told by my good friend, that seabands really do work. She swears by them and even had her daughter use them for morning sickness and they worked. You won't know unless you try!

I have bad motion sickness (not on a plane usually though) and the seabands work for me in a car or on a ship.

Before I fly I eat something starchy like a bagel or roll, and that helps a lot as well.

Here's what I was taught to tell my air-sick-prone passengers when I was in flight school.

- Make sure you have a window seat!!!!!!

- Always look out the window and try to focus on far away objects (even if it's only the horizon or a distant cloud). This minimizes the effects of vertigo.

- Never try to read or watch a movie. These activities enhance vertigo.

- Sleep if you can.

- Direct the A/C to blow directly on your face. (Stay cool)

- Sip cool water or lemon-lime soda (oh yeah, or Ginger Ale).

- Take a cool, wet washcloth with you in a baggie. Place it on your forehead or around your neck if you start to feel nauseous.

We've had very good luck with Bonine in our family. I've really had no success with sea-bands personally (maybe I was just too skeptical about their effects), but they're sure worth a try.

I hope these hints help you in-flight. :wave2:

DH swears by 1 Xanax(will relax you and maybe even let you have a little snooze) washed down with a little ginger ale. It seems to work. We flew to Europe last summer and no problems.

Good luck!

Hi, I also do the muffin or bagel (nothing greasy)before I fly. Inflight- I have gingerale and plain crackers. I also chew on some crystallized ginger. Good Luck! Joan

I also suffer from violent motion/air sickness. Until my last flight, I always tossed my cookies on my flights and never looked forward to flying in any way. Before our last trip, I did some in depth research and came across a prescription medicine called Scopace. It is a miracle drug. It not only kept me from violent air sickness, I was even able to read and look out the window of the plane without wooziness. The medicine has a website. Google to find it. I highly recommend it.

try some Meclazine. i usually just take 1/2 pill cause it makes me sleepy. i use this for motion sick when we ride the train from Ma. to Fla. also for the rides at the parks. i think it works great.
