Hi,

Really annoyed as being a bit slow i only just heard about the book early and get up to 40% off.

In December i booked for June, wanted to get in early and was excited.

had some problems with the insurance you may remember.

Anyway just rang to be told the dates i am going at the hotel i am going are included in the 40% off but to get this i have to cancel my original booking and loose the deposit.

How is this fair there is an early booking offer but i am being penalised for booking too early. Does this make sense to anyone?

Sorry to hear that :confused3 That kind of thing happens to me all the time!!

Does it work out cheaper in the long run to loose your deposit?

Hi,

Yes it does which is what i've now done. It just seems so unfair that because i was organised i have to pay more money for my holiday because of the lost deposit than someone who books now.

This is always my problem. I book virtually as soon as we get back or as early as you are allowed. Then low and behold offers come up. I never want to risk not being able to get in in case it is full so always seem to lose out. It isn't fair. I have always felt a bit let down in that respect.

I had the same thing happen for our upccoming trip, agree it doesn't seem fair to be penalised for booking earlier than the early booking offer.

Thing is though, you could say the same about anything you buy, whether its a holiday or a hoover.
If, when you buy it, you pay a price you're happy with, then later it goes on sale/reduces in price, then yes, its unlucky, but thats life isn't it? Its the same as if the prices increase after you've bought your holiday/hoover :) . You don't expect the holiday/hoover company to contact you and make you pay extra, because the price of your item is now more than you paid for it, so you can't expect the same company to offer you a reduced price, because its now less than you entered a contract and agreed to pay.

There are often offers from DLRP, and it is a gamble when you book. Bottom line for me is, am I happy with the price I'm paying? If I'm not, I won't pay it. If I am, and if the price then goes down after I've booked, I just think, well it could have gone the other way, and it could have been more expensive had I waited (that has happened to me too with DLRP).

We went for a few days last year and we (Me, Grandad, Nanny and 2 kids) decided we missed way to much so wanted to go again this year. We knew we wanted to go and priced it up, but is was very expensive. We decided to try and do something else.

Then a few weeks ago I was doing my usual *price it up knowing I won't be able to go* and the 40% offer showed up - phoned dad and he booked immediately. I'm glad I waited, I would have been hacked off as we've booked Eurostar direct (live by the station lol) and saved £800 off our original quote.

So I see it as if you think it's too much then wait. If you are desperate to go then pay the price you see. We had decided that it was too much and i'm glad we did!!! Now all 5 of us are going fot 4n/5d and looking forward to it!!

I had this problem as well, I booked on the Monday for 9 nights/10 days in July, four days later the 40% offer started. I phoned Disney and was advised to cancel, lose my £325 deposit and rebook, I didn't as I just couldn't justify throwing away that amount of money and I'd already gained by getting my shareholder discount - plus without getting the shareholder discount I too could have booked last November (as I did the previous year).
Like Elaine says it's a gamble whenever you book, took me a couple of hours to come round to that way of thinking though at the time! Besides I've just saved £250 by booking my flights separetely to what Disney quoted me for flights.

For me it's not a case of "not being happy with the price paid", I just don't like missing out on a bargain and I've had nothing but emailed special offers since I booked our trip.
But as I didn't pay for my flights (Airmiles) and in all fairness it's the first trip I've actually paid for since 2006 (Both paid in Tesco Deals in 2007), I really shouldn't complain. :)

We just have to keep in mind that Disney seams to be unfair with these things.
Should I start again with my -"Why do only UK quests get the 40% and the 4=3 offers and the rest of Europe get's nothing!"- speach? ;) :lmao:

Hi,

I understand if they had a sale on after we booked thats one thing. I suppose it is because they have called it an early booking offer. I don't see how you can say one person who booked in March is early and therefore qualifies but the person who booked in December is not early for exactly the same dates.

Anyway rant over

I can certainly understand your frustration with that illogical wording.

I know we have had good UK offers before but this one is unbelievably good. It MUST surely have something to do with the drop in the £ against the Euro. We are getting so much less for our money that it must be having an effect on the numbers of people booking. As the UK makes up the highest number of visitors after the French, I guess Disney couldn't take the drop in revenue and had to make some grand gesture.

My holidays aren't costing me any more, but the amount of spending money I have to find is going up each time because of the exchange rate. Being obsessed with Disney, I have found the money, but I bet a lot of people are just not going.

Ok im annoyed that my dates are now cheaper by £100 when they wasnt 2 weeks ago.

I'm off to sulk now lol.

I'm sat here thinking of ringing Disney and seeing how much it would cost for us to upgrade to Hotel New York in July! I made a good £250 saving on booking my flights last night (against the price Disney gave me for booking the whole package through them) so I feel some money burning away in my pocket!
