Reality has absolutely no place in our world...a colorful TR update 2/27/07

Well I know I don't have many readers left but I wanted you to know the next update is coming next week.

Brandon lives with his grandparents and yesterday his grandmother unexpectedly passed away at home. It was quick and they assume painless but it wasn't expected. So while I might have a little free time this week most of it is spent at work or with him.

Anyway I'm not sure why I'm going on about this but I won't be around till next week to update this but it is coming soon!

Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope Brandon is okay. I'm glad he has you for support.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. :grouphug:

Seriously I don't have good luck lately. I have just recieved a letter from a lawyer about some old credit card bill and I'm trying to deal with that. It should work out okay but it still stresses me out. On top of that Brandon is set to go on strike any day now. In a way it'll be good because it's the push he needs towards finding a new job. On the other hand it's so stressful because he won't be finding a job before the strike this week.

I promise the rest of the really drawn out trip report is coming soon, I'm working on it in my journal. As soon as I get more time it'll be up here.

Thank you for your warm thoughts after the loss of his grandma. Hopefully next month our lives will get back on track.

So life will never stop amazing me at how things happen for both the good and the bad. Since I started writing this TR I've had my share of ups and downs, since the start of February I've really had my fair share of down times. But here I am on the other side of it all with things taking a turn for the better. I'm starting March with my hopes for my future still together, my happiness mostly restored to me, my sense of humor still there and the knowledge that I will survive whatever comes next. I also still have a crazy big family and a boyfriend I adore. So I guess this month served as another reminder that life is too short not to have fun and that all the worrying in the world is not going to solve things so face them head on and it will turn out for the best.

But enough about that, time for more trip report. (I'd like to have this done well before my next trip in September!)

So I woke up the next day and realized that our trip had gone from being great to amazing. I think we were both in better spirits when we woke up. Not that we weren't in great spirits before but more we had put the illness from the start of the trip and all that behind us. Ironic that this day when our mood was lifted was the one day that was over cast. We had great weather for the entire length of the trip, I wouldn't complain about a day. But this was the only day that the bright Florida sun wasn't shinning down on us. We took our time moving that morning because we were headed to Downtown Disney and so I wasn't overly concerned with afternoon crowds. I forgot to mention that on our way to our room the night before we had stopped to grab a box of donuts. We both figured we could snack on them or have them for a quick breakfast. So we were lazy and ate our donuts while we got dressed.

We got in line and waited with a surprisingly growing number of people. I think I was a little shocked to see so many people picked the same day as us to go to Downtown Disney. I guess I was more expecting it to be an empty bus taking us there but it wasn't. I don't know what it is about Downtown Disney but I think that unless you come by water way you get a bit of the outside world when you go there. I think the area surrounding it is just less Disney like to me. But it is what it is. So we drop people off at Typhoon Lagoon and Brandon and I discuss that this is the water park we're going to. See despite numerous trips to the world, I've never been to one of the water parks.

GASP SHOCK HORROR Well I lie a little here, I've been to a Disney water park before, just neither of these biggies. My family stayed in the Fort Wildnerness cabins a handful of times, they suited our family of 5 when we were teens. Honestly I love being there as it reminds me a little bit of my favorite vacation place close to home but I also love feeling like I'm camping. I have so many great memories at the resort and I sure my family would say the same. One year we went to River Country which was essentially part of the Fort Wilderness property. And oh the fun my family had there! There was one slide the you went down and there was a little drop between the end of the slide and the pool. Man I loved that thing, my brother, sister and myself went on again and again. It was small but I adored that little water park.

But back to the present day, River Country free, Disney. Brandon and I discussed the water parks as most of the bus emptied out. I laugh even now to think that most of the people on our bus that day were going to the water park(despite the cloud cover) and when we went to the water park most people were going to Downtown Disney. Oh well. So Brandon and I made the little mistake of getting off the bus at the marketplace instead of at the West Side. We walked and walked and walked. Okay it wasn't really that much walking but it was hot and it felt like we walked forever. The first thing we did was hit the Planet Hollywood gift shop to look around. (I forgot to bring my little slip for a free pin from their gift shop, I'll kick myself later.) We both thought it was cute but nothing that really said spend money here. We looked around outside at the things they have on display such as the Jenny from Forest Gump. Now I know this restaurant gets pretty bad reviews but I would eat at any of them again. (We didn't eat there on this trip but I've been to that one before and one in Minnesota.) Go with the simple food here, it's a safe bet. P.S. note on Planet Hollywood, I prefer Hard Rock Cafe to Planet Hollywood any day!

We decided to skip the stores for now and head right to Disney Quest, this was our main reason for heading this way. We were hearded in with all the folks who had appeared out of no where at the same time as us. (It was like a ghost town on the West Side, there were so few people.) They hearded us and some young families into the magic elevator for our ride to action. For those who haven't been I'll just mention that it is not your normal elevator. Genie from Aladdin is in charge of bringing you to your destination. (Okay so it's a normal elevator just gussied up to be fun for kids.) Now during this elevator ride I wanted to say about sixty different things to Brandon but didn't because the whole group of people in the elevator seemed not to want to talk at all, I had no desire to be the one person talking.

Let me pause my story, yet again, to tell you what I learned about elevators during my years in college. I never picked the third or fourth floor of the dorm to live on, my freshmen year I was the 12th floor out of 13. My friends and I started to discover a whole bizzare system to riding the elevator. People didn't like it when you took the elevator to floor 2 or 3, can't you walk the one or two flights of stairs? Those taking it to those floors always felt they paid to live there so they were entitled to ride. (I used to take the stairs from the basement to my room on the 12th floor on laundry days because the elevator took to long to get to the basement. Man that was a workout.) We also noticed that being the person stuck in the middle of the elevator was the worst position to be in, everyone looked at you and you were stuck not knowing which way to turn. There were also those rides, and I was on a fair share of them, when the entire elevator was silent. Of course these were college days and kids would just make some comment about the akward silence then we'd all laugh and discuss weird silences or command eachother to say something.

But this wasn't one of those elevator trips, this one on my way to disney quest was one where no on said a word. When we finally got off the elevator I felt like I was released from some weird silence I was being held under. I just start to spurt out all the comments I had wanted to make in the elevator. Ah well. We started in the Create Zone, I'm not sure why but that was our first stop. We hit the living easle first and played around a bit. I guess I should confess now that this "game" made me want to scream. The idea is that you select things to put in the background of your choice and then you press animate and they move. I suppose that I'm used to more control over my computer animation(I love to play with paint shop pro on my home computer) and so this drove me nuts. I tried three pictures and gave up. Very mature, I know. We also took turns making songs and then went over to take our turns creating our toys like Sid has in Toy Story. There were a number of free stations but we shared one and took our turns as to not take up more space then needed. We had fun but didn't buy any of the things we created.

Next we hit the explore zone. I should mention I'm not even sure of which order the floors go in, we just walked up and down the stairs all morning. The layout of this place is more then a little confusing to me even still. :sad2: First we tried Aladdin's Magic Carpet rides. It took a little effort to get the head piece on but it was cool once I did. I hadn't done virtual reality stuff in a long time and it was so cool. EXCEPT! I had no clue what I was doing the entire time I was playing the game. I didn't know if I was working with or against the people around. Brandon tried to explain it after but really I still didn't get it. Maybe I should have listened better to what he said or the girl working skipped giving us all the instructions. I guess if we decide to go back to Disney Quest I'll have to try again. But the Virtual Jungle Cruise was fun and had me laughing the entire time. Brandon kept telling me not to stop paddling. (Every time I started laughing more I'd rest my paddle.)

We decided at this point to skip the Pirates game and go play some of the actual arcade games. We did this for awhile and had lots of fun. This was what would be introduction to video games and would end up causing Brandon more money then he'd probably expect to spend. (I loved the video games and started talking about how much I missed video games. So for my birthday in November, a month after the trip, he got me a Nintendo DS. The hand held Nintendo system, which I love!) We happened upon the Wonderland Cafe and I decided that "we"(by which I mean I) needed the large piece of chocolate cake they had on display. So Brandon and I got it to split and I thought it was good, although not amazing. I loved the oversized furniture and the feel of that area. In a perfect world I get to sit in huge over sized chairs and drink hot chocolate with whip cream out of extremely large mugs while reading whatever book has my attention at that moment. We did take the time to sit at one of the computers and send out some of the cute emails they let you send there. But Brandon wanted to see what else they had to offer.

We hit the rest of the big rides which aren't really worth detailing each and every one. Although they were fun they weren't out of this world amazing to me. I will say this, I was horrible at Invasion! An Alien Encounter and loved Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlaster but it's only good when there are a number of people playing.

Before we left I begged Brandon to let me do CyberSpace Mountain and really I didn't need to be because he was all for me doing it. I wasn't sure what to expect when they said you got to creat your own roller coaster and ride it. There are these things at most arcades where you can virtual "ride" a rollercoaster but really it's not even close to the real thing. You just sit there while you bump along. So I followed the instructions to make my coaster while the little kid next to me explained that you'd find out how thrilling your coaster was. He kept telling me things and I acted like I knew exactly what he was talking about. I finished my coaster and brought my ticket to the person in charge of putting you on your ride. Well next thing I know they're taking my belongings from me and telling me to empty my pockets. They lock my things up tight and tell me to put the key on my wrist. Now I'm really curious.

So the strap me into this big machine that looks like a vehicle out of Star Wars and I'm given a short instruction on different things. I'm thinking this will be pretty cool, maybe it rocks more then the thing I've been on before. So my coaster starts and I'm tilting to the side, I'm going up hills and down dips. Next thing I know I'm being spun upside down and right side up again. Yes, they actually will spin you if you put loops on your ride. To say the least I love this thing and wish I could have one in my house. Brandon had no interest in it and I wish he would have gone. If there are two in your group you can both design a coaster then you can both ride each ride, you do one person's then the others. I think despite his fear of normal coasters Brandon would like this because there's no actual heights involved, it's all virtual. You can buy a video of your ride but I decided it wasn't worth it because I was all alone on the ride. I would definitely try this again.

We decided that was it for us and Disney Quest. We headed out and decided we'd definitely spend money to do that again. We decided to poke in the stores along the way to the Marketplace. We were both just curious to see what the stores were. We skipped the Virgin store but hit almost all the others. Magnetron is fun because I enjoy seeing all the different magnets and wonder what people do with some of them. Then we hit Starabilias for our favorite game of, if I were extremely rich which celebrity/movie/music would I want memorabilia for. I definitely tend to want things from classic rock musicians like Aerosmith, Janis Joplin and the like. My movie wants range. Brandon tends to find all the older horror movies such as the Freddy movies. We both are geeks who love the sci fi things. So after about 20 minutes we pull ourselves away and decide to make our way over to the marketplace.

I'm sorry this part was so boring, I think Disney Quest was tons of fun but it's hard to write about excitement because it wasn't a lot of crazy stuff happening. But it will pick back up in the next part, I promise.

Coming this afternoon?: Part 19:Pirates, princesses and a surprise.

Thanks for the DQ review. I haven't seen very many that were detailed, and we'll be going there for the first time this trip (thanks to the free upgrade promotion!). I think DH is really going to love it (he's playing XBox as we speak!).

So Brandon and I decided to head over to the Marketplace to do a little shopping. There's something to be said for having all the things you've been looking at in the parks in one place to look at. But first we have to do at least one picture with the Lego creations.

scan0008.jpg

I laugh at this picture because in reality my outfit is such a tribute to my desire to travel. The bag is a Roots Canada bag I got on my trip to Toronto. The shirt I got on the same trip which is a Boston tee shirt, ironic I bought a shirt for my home town while in Toronto. And most of all those sandals, which I have had for seven years now but can't part with, they've been to Canada, Italy and numerous states. I don't know why this makes me laugh but it does.

But on with the trip report, we head into the lego store and I'm like a kid in a candy store. I LOVE legos. I still get Lego sets and love to put them together. I have a good number or Star Wars and Harry Potter legos in my book case. I create them then display them. I could have come home with half that store but had to control myself. Next we hit up the World of Disney store and here's where things get funny. On my last trip to WDW with my family we went there one day and the five of us went different ways to look at things. We're all shopping around and then I'm trying to find one member of my family. Well that store is so big I couldn't find any of them! I'd lost four family members. In the end I headed towards a display of princess things and there was my sister, no surprise there.

So when Brandon and I went into the store I gave him strict instructions not to lose sight of me or let me lose sight of him. I explained we should probably try to do each room together. So we get in and I'm looking at the store trying to find things for my two little cousins who I always bring things back for. I've got my eye on a couple of things but want to continue looking. Brandon and I head towards the hat racks and I know some people stay far away from trying on hats, we're not those people.

scan0009.jpg

scan0010.jpg

(Side note. I FINALLY convince Brandon that the hair on his chin was not needed and he looked better without it. Thank GOD!)

So after playing with the hats I go to look at some picture albums to get an idea of what I want to put our pictures in. This is when it happens... I turn my back for a minute and Brandon is GONE!! I told him not to lose me, I told him I tend to get easily lost in this store. Well I decide I might as well look around and just hope that in my shopping I find him. The more time goes by the more I start to think that wasn't a good idea. It felt like I walked around some of those rooms six times. (Which I suppose wasn't really the case.) Finally I find him looking at men's shirts and now I'm of course just laughing. I really need to be put on one of those leashes that some adults feel are useful for their children. (I know I don't have kids yet and that I might change my tune but I find those things to be silly. I hope to never use them on my kids.)

Now we walk around for minute or two and Brandon decides he wants to leave now. And when I say now I don't mean in a few minutes when I finish looking at each individual item or after I carefully select the perfect princess pen for my sister. He wants to leave right now. Hold your horses buddy, I saw the gifts I want to get my cousins here and so I need to get them before we leave. So we went back to the area of the store that is filled with Pirate things. I decided to get my cousin one of the chests that you can fill for like $15. So Brandon helps me to stuff it with fake tattoos, bugs, snakes, eye patches and all the other Pirate booty they have. For my female cousin I get one of the bags for $15 that you can fill with Princess things. I filled it with lots of purple and pink necklaces, braclets, rings, stickers and all the things they had for that. (The both loved them. While I liked what I got them last trip better my girl cousin is wearing at least one thing from that bag every time I see her.) I also got them lolipops with Cars covers because they'd just seen Cars and loved it.

Brandon was helping me pick things out and seemed to enjoy trying to stuff the chest and bag as full as we could. We wanted to get the most for our money and have plenty for the kids to play with. When we were finished I wanted to poke around a little more but he pleaded with me that we needed to get out of there. I was worried that we'd been so busy he'd started to feel sick so I cut the shopping short and we headed out of the store. When we walked out of the store we went down near the water because Brandon said he wanted to get some air. He told me to grab his stuff out of his pocket. When I reached there was a bag and my hand stopped. Brandon told me to pull out the bag. I pulled out the bag and asked him what it was, half of me already knowing what his answer would be. He said it was just a little something he picked up for me, he told me to open it.

I pulled a long black box out of the bag(I'm sure you ladies know what these boxes look like) and inside was a heavy silver chain with the most amazing tinker bell charm I have ever seen. It's plain silver but it's better then any other one I've considered buying before. I was simply blown away by how nice this necklace was, the quality of it really is amazing. I gave Brandon the biggest hug and kept thanking him. He said he just wanted to get me something because I'd made it such a great trip and he wanted to give me something special to remember the trip by when we went home. It was such a sweet moment that was completely unexpected. Now of course you want to see pictures of said necklace and believe me I should have taken a picture of it. But I didn't and till I can get a decent one up here's a couple cropped from my exsisting pictures so you can see the style of it.

necklaceone.jpg
necklacetwo.jpg

It's hard to see there but it's so beautiful. (I will try to post a better picture soon.) Mary Poppins hands down is my favorite Disney character or probably my favorite character in general. But Tink isn't too far behind. So I knew that Brandon really thought about what he was getting me. I wear this necklace a lot really, it was my favorite to wear right up till he gave me a necklace for Christmas. Now they're tied for which one I like better. It still amazes me that Brandon seems to know that I much prefer simple things to the fancy, showy jewelry some people like to wear. It's just more my style. I also have to say I'm definitely not able to express just how much his gift meant to me. Even now when I am wearing it I'll reach up and touch it, knowing how much love I have for him and how much that trip meant to both of us.

So after our sweet moment we decided to pretty much head out. We wanted to go back to the hotel and get freshened up for our evening. We did make a stop at the little pin store they have so I could look to see what they had. I'd gotten into pin trading before my last trip and although I hadn't traded on this trip I still liked to look in the stores at what they had. (I will have a bit of a pin trading run in at the end of the week that still makes me mad just thinking about it.) So we poked about and then decided it was time to take off. We sat happily at the bus stop sharing a drink waiting for the bus to come back. We got back to our hotel room and essentially showered then we were out the door again. We decided to make the most of this day and I think we both felt a little more energetic after our showers. So we made our way over to Animal Kingdom.

Coming soon: Part 20:A lovely dinner and the conversation I hate the most!

I wish the pictures I took when we were there came out so I could show you it, unfortunately they are all way too dark. This was my first time there and I really did enjoy it. I'm sure your DH will love it because my BF is a huge xbox guy and he thought it was great. I also think there are plenty of things for those who aren't big video game people.

I just found your TR and loving it so far. I love your details, it is like we are there with you. I am only on page #3 and had to respond.

I am from MA and recently moved to TX, but missing home very much. I love your references to the local culture. It brings me back home.

1. I miss MA frappes (my favorite Friendly's Chocloate Fribbles). I can't find a good place to get a frappe. (Also missing Grinders. No one in TX can make a good Italian Grinder).
2. Aerosmith Rock -n- Roll Coaster. It bothers me that they scenes inside are from CA and NOT MA or Boston. Otherwise I LOVE the ride and music.

I'm still reading. I hope to catch up soon.

Yay! Another MA person. I always thought Texas would be a fun place to live but I think it's too different from MA.

Oh now I want to have an Italian sub and a frappe, I have to admit they are two great things. I don't know how the rest of the world lives without them. (P.S.-Have you ever tried making your own frappes?)

I feel the same way about the RnRC. Aerosmith is a Boston band, why does it have to be all CA stuff?

Luckily for you, you've found this as I'm about to hit the mid way point of writing about the trip so you should be able to catch up before I have much more up. I'm glad I've got another reader!

I also found it confusing navigating through Disney Quest and also admit that we were a bit disappointed with it. From what I read, it just seemed like it would be a lot more fun. I don't think anyone from my family wants to go back. We probably should have waited to go there towards the end of our trip :confused3

We also never made it to the marketplace which is a shame because us three girls love shopping!

What a nice present Brandon bought you, he seems like a sweet man - a keeper - better hang on tight to him

Thanks for the updates :thumbsup2

I'm bumping this up for my own benefit as I"m sure it will only be Blue and myself haunting this old thread. Life got crazy to say the least. Brandon's mom is not in great health and life has found a way to make me forget this tr. BUT I've decided if no one reads this I'm okay but I want to finish it. My memory is not as great as I would like it to be but I'll try to write as vividly as I can. Plus I can't start my pre-tr for my upcoming trips till I finish this one!

Oh did I mention during all this I got a GREAT new job? I did and it's great.

Time to go write.

WELCOME BACK!!!!! :cool1:
Sorry about Brandon's mom. Congrats on the new job.
Can't wait to hear the rest of the TR.
Barb

So as I said my memory is starting to fail me a little and I can't remember any great details about AK that day. Maybe after all the fun and excitement of the day we had decided to be plain old tourists and not having anything silly or fun happen to us. Either way I'm sure any details I'd share about the park would be ones that you already knew. So I will fast forward to our dinner at Boma. On my last trip with my family I had bought the unofficial guide and read it front to back in no time. I wanted to soak up all the information I could about the trip and this was my way to start. (The boards soon came after that.) My family laughed but my dad clued me in that way back in 1982 on my first trip as a wee baby (only months old having been born in November of 81') my parents had bought every book they could in order to plan for the trip. Although my dad says there were much more limited choices out there then. So in reality I was born to research. So when my family went I had found a few new places that I thought we should take a look at, we narrowed them down to two and I was given my choice of which one we went to. (I think the other may have been Whispering Canyon, I'm almost positive on that one.) My sister being of the chicken fingers and fries camp was nervous about the "Traditional African Cuisine" but was given little choice on the matter. In the end my mom, brother and sister gave it an average rating, atmosphere and the meat was good... to many "weird things" for them. My dad and I liked the atmosphere and loved that they had such a variety of food.

So when it came time to pick places to eat with Brandon I put this on our list. He was so excited about the Animal Kingdom and I knew he'd love the look of the restaurant so it was an obvious choice. I think from the moment the bus pulled up to the hotel he was in love with it. We took a little time to look around the lobby area of the hotel and I let Brandon wander around while I went down to check us in. Now I'm about to tell you a secret about myself that I'm sure some of you will say... I hate when people do that! But I can't help it, I think I inherited it from my mom. I tend to feel free to talk to strangers when I'm standing in line. I'll hear them talking and I just jump right in, I'm bad I know. If we cross paths at WDW feel free to ignore me! So the women at the front was taking awhile as there as an issue with her reservation and I heard the women behind us talking about how she's worried about her young kid not wanting to eat anything there. So I turn around and explain to her how last time I was here there was mac n cheese, french fries, chicken fingers and more for the less adventurous eaters. Then there is of course the wilder fare and everything in between. We start chatting up and it turns out she graduated from the same college and same program that my sister is in. Brandon walks up shaking his head :sad2: while he also strikes up conversations with random people he knows I have a tendency to do it in the middle of their conversations. Eventually we check in and in almost no time at all are being brought to our table.

We had this table that was in a really great location but would be a bit difficult to explain if you had never been there. But this is a bustling busy restaurant, although I don't find it too loud, so it amazes me how at the table it feels so private. We really did feel like we were the only two people in the place. Our waiter comes to take our drink order and to explain how the buffet works. He asks us where we're from and before I know it I'm in the middle of meeting yet another Bostonian!!!! He lived right near where my grandparents live. We get to chatting about the Red Sox and all things that make Boston a great city. He said he was going up in a week for a week or two visit but was worried about the cold. I told him how we were having a warm fall so far and really the weather shouldn't be too cold when he arrived. He was really sweet and came to check on us a million times after that.

We both really enjoyed our dinner there and the food was so good. I'm going to admit that I'm not a fan of their Zebra Domes like some are. Oh I'll eat them when I go but they have a chocolate mousse that I really enjoyed. Again I tried the more exotic things and nothing really made me fall in love with it but I did enjoy eating there. So after dinner we decided to go walk outside and take some pictures.

Looking out off the one of the public balconies. I just love how Disney goes all oout. You'd never assume this was a resort in Orlando.

This inside just as we were walking out to look at the Savannah, this is what you see if you look back.

Brandon with the resort in the background, even if we could stay there I had proof he'd been there.

Looking back at the hotel from further out towards the animal viewing area.

scan0011.jpg

It was during this time that Brandon decided that he absolutely had to stay there and there's been no changing his mind since then. We eventually made our way back to our hotel and laughed at how different the two were. (In fairness we do really enjoy All Start Sports, if I only could stay there in the future I'd be fine with it.) We got back to the hotel room and just hung out watching tv, we were both beat. But unfortunately our night wasn't over. We were both thirsty but neither one of us wanted to get up and get something to drink. Such a small thing in reality. Well we ended up getting into one of those pointless arguments people get into when they're both too tired to think rationally. We started to argue over who did more for who in the relationship. At first it was teasing then it wasn't. We resolved it but I still went back to bed a very sulky girl. In reality it's the one part of the trip that I really regret. I think when I woke up the next morning I was still a little grumpy but kicked that feeling well before it was time to walk out the door. I'm happy to say while we still have fights and disagreements we've moved beyond the point where we keep it up till one of us gets really upset. It amazes me how much our relationship matures with each passing moment.

Stay tuned for Part 21:Well I'll title it just as soon as I can remember what the hell happened that day. : )

I thought I'd add a little bit to this post about Boma, AKL and future WDW plans. From my review of Boma I felt I left a wishy washy review. This place is great and I suggest everyone eats there once for the experience of it, I've been twice. Brandon and I have decided not to eat there this trip because we want to try new places and have decided it's not on our list of places we must go to every year. We also will be staying at AKL so we've decided if we want we could always pray for a last minute ressie. As for staying at AKL, I know I mentioned it earlier, we have decided to stay there with the 40% code I got. If it were up to me I would have stayed at a moderate, actually Port Orleans Riverside, which is a hotel I LOVE! But the compromise was a longer trip if we stayed at the place Brandon picked.... not that I'm saying that it makes no sense. But 10 days at AKL sounds good to me. I'm also signed up to run the Tower of Terror race at the end of October(our trip is the start of October) so I will be headed down there for a long weekend I believe. Brandon can't leave work at that time of the month so I'm headed down with my cousin. I'm also making plans to run the WDW Marathon in January but the crew coming along for that could be larger. So that's the future and I could have probably started a pre-trip report but will hold off on that till I finish this.

WELCOME BACK!!!!! :cool1:
Sorry about Brandon's mom. Congrats on the new job.
Can't wait to hear the rest of the TR.
Barb

Thanks! :cool1:

The way I see it is right now she's surviving so that's a positive. Things could get worse fast so for now we're looking at it in the good light. Thanks!
Off to a slugish start but when I pull out notes and stuff from the trip it'll job my memory I hope.

I'm sorry to hear about Brandon's mother

Congrats on the new GREAT job!!!!!

I'll be catching up with the rest tonight :yay:

I'm glad you wrote about your experience with Boma.

DH and I would love to stay at AKL some day and thought about choosing Boma for one of dinners but after reading about the foods being so different, we changed our mind. My DH and girls are really picky eaters and I'd hate to waste a good dinner.

Having decided that, I do think we'll take some time to head over to that resort and at least have a look around.

You're going to do the marathon???? UGH.

That is definately NOT something I'd want to do. :rolleyes1

Hoping we don't have to wait months for the next installment :rotfl2:

Just kidding ;)

Boma you could definitely do with picky eaters but if 3 out of 4 of your party members are picky it might be a meal to skip. But definitely go check the resort out. Even if it's not a style you'd love I just find it amazing the lengths Disney goes to. Plus we liked seeing the animals up close.

I'm going to do the Tower of Terror 13k in October(like two or three weeks after my trip with Brandon.) Then in Jan do the full marathon. I just woke up one day and said I'm going to do this and so I am. (In fairness I used to be hugely into sports and ran track so it's not like running is new to me. Just marathons are.)

haha nope you'll only have to wait till the alcohol cobwebs clear out of my head.

I will share that after what looked to be a tough week we got GREAT news on Brandon's mom. The doctor said at her check up that it looks like they got all the cancer out of her lungs and that there was none in the two ribs they removed. (They removed them thinking the cancer had spread there.) And if this is the case they're thinking they won't make her do chemo or radiation so they can focus on getting her MS back in line. So that's really great news. :goodvibes

Off to try to wake myself up more, will check in later.

That's great news about Brandon's mother :goodvibes

Now don't you be sneaking off on us again!
