I know there have been posts about Thanksgiving but I can't find my question anywhere!:surfweb: My mom will be with us at DW for her first DW Thanksgiving(we have been two other times) and she wants REAL turkey for Thanksgiving, not pre-sliced from a package. Don't ya love moms! Anyway, does anyone know where we can find some real turkey at WDW even if it means a Signature Restaurant? Thank you all! You will make my life a lot easier. BTW, the two times my family and I have gone without Mom, we ate at 1900 Park Fare. The first time was great, the second was disappointing. Thanks again.

Last Thanksgiving Day we ate at Crystal Palace for an early lunch and Liberty Tree Tavern for a late dinner. CP was by far the better meal!!! Plus, they had a REAL fresth roasted turkey on the carving board. At LTT it was pressed turkey served at the table, which was very disappointing to me. HTH!

Also, 2 Thanksgivings ago we got the turkey dinner from Publix and heated it in our villa. Since you are are DVC member you might consider this option too. The Publix meal was wonderful, very reasonable, and we enjoyed the leftovers.

This sounds very interesting to me, since we´re trying to figure out where to have our first Thanksgiving dinner in the US. We´ve been contemplating LTT OR a dinner back at the villa. May I ask how much the turkey dinner from Publix was? Did you have to order it far in advance? Did you have to pick it up or did they bring it to you?

I never thought of CP! Thanks. Was it crazy busy? Did they have a lot of other stuff at the buffet? The only concern I have is Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving day!:scared1: I may still consider it though if we decide to do an early lunch/dinner.

I was also looking over the menus on wdwinfo and it sounds like the Yachtsman Steakhouse may have a real turkey dinner as well as other stuff. Has anyone tried this place on Thanksgiving Day? I can't find any reviews for the actual day of Thanksgiving.

This may be an option too. Yes, we are DVC members and unfortunately bad planning on my part has left us moving from a 2 br BCV to a 2br AKV concierge on the day of Thanksgiving. I am not sure what time we will be able to get into our room on Thanksgiving Day as I know sometimes the rooms are not always ready for check in at 4:00PM like they are supposed to be. I am not sure if staying in concierge will help us get in any earlier but I don't want to count on it. Was the meal completely prepared or did you have to prepare some of it yourself? How long did it take to heat it up? Thanks for your ideas so far!!!!

CP has roasted turkey sliced with prime rib next to it......YUMMY.....they had enough choices there to be my Thanksgiving dinner.....delicious......

My choice for Thanksgiving dinner would be ratist point at WL or Cali grill at Contemporary.

For a buffet it would be Crystal Palace in MK.

All of the above would have fresh turkey.

The Publix Thanksgiving meal is about $39.99 and feeds about 8-10. Great deal. I think they have larger meals too. You have to pick it up. We got it last year because my dad did not want to go to Boma.

You do have to heat up the turkey even though it is pre-cooked. I think it still took about 2 hrs. (we did not know that and would have just made it ourselves if we had.) Our turkeys were always better but it was pretty good. The mashed potatoes were a little runny but I make mine with real butter and sour cream so...The dressing was OK-I like Pepperidge Farms stuffing much better. I think you can choose the sides and add on more if you want. It is a cheap option but I would not do it again.

It can be so hot here in November and December so I hate to light the oven for several hours. We used to love cooking for the holidays up north but here it stinks. I would rather just go to one of the resorts!

For Thanksgiving We have been to:
Liberty Tree Tavern (crowded, loud and fun but not great food)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (great view of the tree, yucky food, loud and fun)
Le Cellier (very nice food-they had a turkey special, quiet)
Missed Boma last year:(
Jiko this year!

Thanks for the info on Publix. Because we are switching resorts, I don't think it will work for us as I don't want to chance not getting into our room until late and I also don't know what I would do with the food until we did.

After looking over last year's menus and the suggestions on here, we have narrowed it down to CP, Cape May, or Yachtsman Steakhouse. I am leaning towards YS only because it seems like it would be a little quieter atmosphere. I wish I could find someone who's actually been there on Thanksgiving though. It makes me a little nervous as I have never eaten here before. CP sounds really good too as I think there would be something for everyone and it would be a lot of fun, although my youngest is 9 so the characters aren't a big deal anymore to my kids. Cape May sounds good too! I know, maybe we can eat at all three!:woohoo: One for breakfast, one for lunch, and one for dinner. Just kidding of course!

Since you're staying offsite & will have a car, there's lots of options. HoneyBaked Ham & Boston Market come to mind. There may also be some local delis that are offering Thanksgiving dinners for carryout. Some offsite restaurants will offer turkey dinners.

If I don't feel up to cooking on holidays, we order dishes from multiple locations. We kind of put together a meal that caters to our personal taste & traditions. This would probably be too complicated for a tourist, but it gives you an idea of some of the options available. Be warned that most places close fairly early on Thanksgiving day. When your trip gets closer, you may want to go to the Orlando Board on the DIS to ask for offsite options. I hope your family enjoys your 1st time experiencing an American Thanksgiving. :goodvibes

Hey
I am making ADR's today for Thanksgiving Day ( we are able to early because we are checking in Nov 20) and WDW rep double checked with head supervisor and there is FRESH Turkey at LTT not pressed!!!

When I got my ADR for Yachtsman Steakhouse for Thanksgiving the CM on the phone said they will have regular menu items also...I specifically asked because I'd rather eat from their regular menu than a Thanksgiving menu. But she said it so quickly, it just struck me as odd since I knew in the past that they have has a special menu for that day.

Has anyone else confirmed either way?
