I've been hearing conflicting information on how much the Amex discount is on the Hoop Dee Doo. I've heard anywhere from 10% to 20% off. I've also heard the discount works on all 3 seatings of the show - and I've heard it's only good for the 9:30pm seating. Anyone know for sure?? Thanks!!!

One thing that I personally think of when weighing the options is not just the discount I'm getting, but also what that does to my Am Ex bill....I'm personally more apt to spend more by putting it on plastic than if I pay CASH (handing cash all the time HURTS! LOL!!)....

I did charge 2 (or maybe it was 3, I can't remember) nights on my Am Ex to get "white glove treatment" only to read here on the boards (and on Deb's) that WGT isn't anything to get excited over...LOL!

Just my two cents....

Just so happens I've been on the phone twice with them this weekend. At first I was thinking my family of 7 would be the only ones going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo, so I asked about the AmEx discount. I was told 10% off for all shows. When I actually called back to make the reservation, all 11 of us are actually going. At this point I was told that the AmEx discount only applies to parties of 8 or more on the 9:30 show (which we didn't want). We went ahead and made the reservations without a discount for the 7:15 show. I've seen some other sites that mention a 20% discount but I haven't been able to verify that.

Hopefully someone else can add more, especially about a 20% discount.

What i was told......

The only AmEx discount i have ever been able to get is 10% and it could only be used for the 9:30 show. (according to the CM i made the ressies with AND the CM at the checkin window) Also, NO DISCOUNTS are given at all for groups of 8 or more. (for our June 2002 trip i had a party of 8. When i called to make the ressie i was told that any group 8 or over for a dinner show was considered a group and they bounced me over to the group ressie line. I asked the CM at the group ressie line about a DC or AmEx discount for any show, and was informed that there were no discounts for group ressies.)
Now the one time i used the Am Ex discount, when checking in at the window at Pioneer Hall, the CM there asked if we were staying at FW. We were. He asked for our campsite number and informed us that it was a little known fact that there was a discount at the HTD for FW campers. (I am not clear how much it was - i thought it was an additional 10%. I am also not clear on if it is just for the 9:30 show or all shows.)

I have read other posts and websites (including the AmEx site) that claim a 20% discount at HTD, but have never been able to get a CM who knows anything about this. (if it even exists)

I think it must depend on who you speak to. When I made reservations they sent me the confirmation notice (I was going in April) and had to pay by a certain date. When I called to have them bill my Amex the woman said "oh you get a discount for using Amex". I think it was 10% and that was for the 5:00 showing , 8 people only 7 charge (one not quite 1years old). I also know that I had to speak to group sales to make my ressie. I would politely ask to speak to a manager, and politely tell her or him that you have gotten conflicting info and know that he/she would be able to give you the right info. good luck.
