Real rain cover for stroller, or shower liner?

Hi, working on the little details for our trip in a few weeks, and I am trying to decide if I should buy "real" rain covers for our strollers (2 Graco Metrolites-average sized), or use clear vinyl shower liners and binder clips (read this somewhere). Can anyone who has used one or the other share their thoughts? Also, if I should use the real cover, where is a cheap place to get them? Thanks!

I think most people who bring their own strollers bring rain covers, most of the time people use the binder clip method from what I've seen is when they're renting strollers. IME, the properly designed cover tends to fit better, has ventilation, and holds together better than the shower curtian method.

I agree... we've used real stroller covers on our umbrella strollers for every trip, and it was worth every penny.

-They have vent holes on the sides so the kids can get air when they are under the cover

-you don't have to worry about the covers sliding off or falling so that they get stuck under the wheels when you're pushing the stroller.

-they are clear, so the kids can see when they are under the rain covers.

I wouldn't want to have to deal with clips, etc. We just put the covers on and go.

I found ours at Babies R Us. I think they were Graco brand...but they fit our umbrella strollers, which are not Graco. I paid around $14 each.

Another vote for the "real stroller rain cover". They fit properly, have vents and keep kids and strollers much dryer IMHO.

I bought a double jogging cover for my stroller. It fits ok, not perfect. It barely covers the front edge of the seat. So I think I'm going to bring the cover AND a shower liner. I think I may cut the liner to fit though. :)

We were just there in May and the stroller covers made the trip bearable. (Horrible, record rains every day of our trip.) The previous year it only sprinkled once or twice, so we had no idea how valuable they could be.

We have two Volos that came with rain covers. They were wonderful. We just left them attached to the strollers the whole time (the strollers could easily be folded with them on and if it stopped raining we could just flip up the cover). Everyone was trying to cover their strollers with ponchos or other makeshift covers those two weeks. All of those kids were soaked between the makeshift covers dripping/letting water in and trying to peek out. My kids were totally dry and could see everything right through the covers. :thumbsup2

OK, thanks for all the feedback. I'm off to find real stroller covers today! With 2 small kids and 2 strollers, we definitely don't need any added hassles!
