Real Magnetix VS Generics?

We have a couple sets of Magnetix and I saw some that were an off brand on EBay- has anyone ever used any of these other sets and are they just as good or not? Thanks!

DS9 has a SuperMag set. I'm not sure, but I think SuperMag came before Magnetix. He also got a Magnetix set thinking they would be just as good as SuperMag, but they're not. SuperMag "sticks" are much stronger and some of his Magnetix are falling apart (magnets are coming out of the plastic).
