Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

Yeah :( The absolute earliest I can start is January, but at this point, I might need to push it back a month or two, which would mean I'd miss the meetup :(

I think I'm about to crash, though, so I'll talk to you later :)

I'm flexible. What would be the minimum number of overlapping days that would be acceptable, worth the airfare and such? 5 days? More or less?

DisneyFireFly, I do hope you are getting some good sleep!

You're asking me??? My airfare is going to be $$$$. :scared1:

I'm thinking 5 - 7 nights at WDW and want to have a couple of nights in the Universal area.
We also want to go to DLR and see Carsland.
I'm also thinking NY.

I'm looking to maximise overlap days as well.

I'm hoping for enough overlap to do a few things together, not just a "nice to meet you" get together. I have shorter days than most and don't expect to do all day things. When we get to DHS, i'd appreciate someone else going to the FP line to get TSMM fast passes. I'll pass on the other biggies, ToT & RRC. I've waited outside those many times for friends who love them. I'm OK with ToT, but never again RRC!

I'm the opposite. I'm okay on RRC but I keep chickening out on ToT. I was in a real life ToT once and the lift freefell for about 5 or 6 floors before the safety brake kicked in. I don't think I would willingly get into a lift knowing that was going to happen.

Yup. We'll need strategy for TSMM.

(What happens if we don't like each other in 3D???)

Hard to do that continuously at WDW....:lmao:

You know....if one of us really has a headache....no one will believe them. :rotfl2:

By the way, I am not sure I would chance any elevator again!:scared1: Was that experience in Melbourne??..as an adult?

Yes. It was in a building that I was working in, would have been about 7 or 8 years ago now. I was located on Level 14 of the building.

PIO, you mention NY. NYC? Have you ever been there? What would be the main attractions there for you? Not the Empire State Building, that's just a guess.

I've been to NYC twice (or is it three times) before. The attraction would be Broadway, if we did decide to go.

I'm vaguely thinking about chasing the fall leaves. Leaf-peeping has been on my bucket list and this is the closest I've gotten to kinda being in the US at sorta maybe the right time.

I might also be kinda trying to tee something up with Kimmar and snapppyd around either NYC or Jersey Shore area.

You are right about the leaf time, something to see! Traffic is often horrendous during peak times.

After the meet, DH & I will stay around WDW for a few days & then drive to and stay in the Smokies for awhile. Fall is beautiful there too.

Can't be in 2 places, would love to host you in Cape May!

Will the leaves be turning in the Smokies? I haven't yet started doing any research and I know that things get crazy during the prime fall season.

DH isn't keen on heading back to NYC. I really must finish that TR and then turn attentions towards planning this trip.

Cape May? We need to talk more! :lmao:

I'm going to say goodnight now.

Good night! I'm going to make my breakfast now. I'm glad for the chat!

I'll think more about the leaves in the Smokies. You're south, but in gentle mountains, so probably just a bit later than New England's show. Rainfall & temps make it hard to predict. We go every fall, to the Smokies in Tennessee. We go for the Gospel music festival in Dollywood, particularly.

Once we hit Peak in New Hampshire, that was the first week in October. We flew into Manchester & it was breathtaking. DS went to school there & it was parents weekend. Other years, the exact same time wasn't so great. You just take your chances.

I'm most likely going to be traveling by myself (unless I'm on the CP), so I'd love to hang out with people as much as I can :lmao: But yeah, I have absolutely no idea if I'll be able to make it yet. I really want to, though :(

Not that I'm trying.to.tell you how to plan your trip. :rolleyes1 But I'm hoping you'll want to do DLR first, then your non Disney portion and finish up at WDW. That way we can have two meets. Maybe in So Cal we could even do a non Disney meet up. That was nice the day we met in the tea house.

Your touring style sounds like us, we are good for late morning, early afternoon activities. Then back to the room for a nap. Maybe out again in the evening. We could scoot fast to get TSMM passes.

 Morning Bobbi.

I'm just on for a very short period. We have family from San Diego and Vancouver visiting at the moment; so I just jumped on to check some threads. Hope you are well!

I'm hoping to finish up my HK TR in the next couple of weeks....and then I'll be launching into full planning for next year. :goodvibes

What fun! Your family is very spread out, and that gives you lots of places to visit!

We're at Disney 's HHI resort, and we have marsh, Broad Creek view. I'm just enjoying the view of bird activity, and taking some "alone" time now.

Enjoy your days, & I look forward to reading whatever you will write!

Bobbi:goodvibes
