Back to Albie and law school.....anyone know if colleges/graduate/law schools are required to provide accomodations for learning disabilities?

As to the country club debacle....those women are all trash. Every single one of them. :scared1:

Not defending, but technically Teresa was right her house (the big on they just built) was never in forclosure. The other properties her husband owned & rented out went into forclosure. Her house was briefly up for sale by her, not by a bank and she quickly took it off the market. I don't condone the bankruptcy declaration or splitting hairs on which property is being forclosed, but she obviously was and she WAS correct in what she said.
I also think she handled herself poorly and should have let Danielle run when she did. Chasing her made her look as low as D.

Danielle is seriously delusional. I lost count as to how many times she said that Teresa & Jacq. were trying to kill her, they were "lethal", wanted to perform bodily harm, she created a scenario of how they would hit her head and kill her and then her daughters would have no mother. Now, I don't think that T&J were right in chasing her down but does any normal person seriosly think that any of them are trying to KILL her? Come on now, they are filming a show, arguing and yelling are one thing, murder?! That is just nutso. She just kept referring to murder, killing, terror, it was all so extreme and sounded crazy to me.

I don't know Jacqueline's husbands name....but I was sooooooooooooooooooo happy when he told Ashley about herself. She was pissing me off, kept responding like "whatever, whatever, you're 2-faced". UGH!

Caroline remains my favorite. She is the only voice of reason among the women. I also love Jacqueline's husband! He really put Ashley in her place. That girl is so clueless!

Theresa started the fight, no doubt about that. She played right into crazy Danielle's hands. And Theresa was so full of herself on the Watch What Happens show. She claimed that their money problems were all business related and not personal. Huh? Doesn't she owe a plastic surgeon and fertility doctor? How could those be business expenses?! To me, Danielle really hit a sore spot with Theresa because she flew off the handle when Danielle mentioned the house. For women that are supposed to be wealthy, they are acting like common trash!

I'm pulling for Albie and his quest to go to law school!

When he met with his lawyer it sounded like they do need to provide accommodations. I really want to see how this all turns out, I think thats pretty sad that he cannot apply to another law school for another 2 years! Thats not right, by the way it sounds if he could get this letter from the dean stating he CAN apply to another law school, then it sounds like that is what he will do. But we'll see.

I know, she is so spoiled and has no idea how the REAL world works. "Go have lunch with Danielle next week since i am such a horrible person." I DOUBT that she even "heard" that Danielle hit Jacqueline, she probably just said that to try and justify her actions. I know there was talk of her going back to school and getting a job, did it ever happen? :confused3

i was watching an earlier show yesterday afternoon and it was funny because theresa and her husband were talking about him having a vasectomy but yet they went to a fertility dr to have another baby....kinda strange and hypocritical.

As the Countess would say, "Money can't buy you class."

Ha! Now the song is in your head, too. :dance3:

Yes, colleges are required to provide accommodations for learning disabilities. It is actually a law.

I am late to the party! I watch all the housewives shows. I love reading everyone's comments on the NJ ladies. That fight was so ridiculous.

Huh. I didn't know that. I assumed that public schools (K-12) were required to provide accomodations because kids are required to go to school. Since higher ed. is optional, I didn't think there were an laws for undergrad/grad schools.

Or is just public universities?

Learn something new everyday. Can you point me to the law? Thx

Last nights incident was all Teresa, she started it. Trashy Teresa. Ashley pulling Danielle's hair, trashy. Jacqueline standing outside stalking Danielle's car, trashy. GROW UP, ladies, err, I mean MORONS. And after Teresa gets done telling Juicy what she did, "I did good, huh"; Juicy, "ya, you did good" ... WHATTTTT ... That whole show was one HUGE embarassment for NJ! :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

Is Albie now suing his law school? :headache:

Ya, me too!

If Albie had documentation throughout the entire time he was at law school that he was struggling and was not keeping up due to his learning disabilities I would think that that would be a different situation ... OR did he fail and then started playing the "learning disabilities" card ... ??? :confused3

I think the show is glossing over the details of this...but when Albie was talking to his lawyer it sounded like when his grades were low first semester, he was placed on academic probation and had to meet with the dean..he told the dean about his learning disability and the dean gave him a phone number..then Albie's lawyer summed it up by saying, "and there was no answer at the phone number" so the school dropped the ball.

The university he was attending has an office of disability services, just like most schools do. The law school says on their website that they make accomodations for learning disabilities along with other disabilities. Maybe if there was no answer at the phone number he should have gone to the office in person. :confused3 I can't believe I googled that. ;)

Go back and rewatch the first show where this is brought up and listen carefully to what he says...I believe that he is trying to use the learning disability (one that he admitted that he got in high school :confused3) to cover up the fact that he did poorly enough that the school did not want him back.

Further, it is up to him to go and ask for extra help! When I was in law school, if you needed extra help the professors were always accessible and willing to help you along with understanding the material. He was complaining that he had to re-read paragraphs 3 times before he understood them -- guess what? so do most law students because the material can be hard to digest on the first go round! Obviously this learning disability didn't stop him from achieving in undergraduate studies, from taking the LSATs and from getting into a law school. If it was so pronounced, perhaps he should have taking the plunge into law school as a part time student to lessen the courseload. I'm sure if you got officials from the school to discuss this you would hear a much different story! And I'm sure they're not too happy that he got an attorney involved -- he obviously didn't learn what I did my first day of law school, don't piss off the mind you are trying to pursuade.

I wasn't sure about law school either, but in college as an undergrad by friends did receive accommodations for their LDs.

I believe Albie attended Seton Hall University's law program as a part-time student.

agnes!

My husband has a documented learning disability and goes to Pace University. He also has gone to a private Catholic college. Both had to abide by the law for students with learning disabilities. I don't have the law in front of me or a link to it, sorry. Maybe it is different in different states?(we are in NY) I do know that some professors don't like to deal with this and my DH had a problem only once. The professor had to abide by the law.

As for Albie, I don't know what his deal is. If you have a documented disability, you have to tell them when you go to college so the extra services you need are provided to you. You have to show them the documents and be retested if required. The school will provide each professor with a letter stating your approved for services and list specifically what you need. My husband had to sign a "check list" from disability services basically stating it was his responsibility to notify his professors and make sure they got the right documentation from the school. Albi either never told the school, or the school knew but he never told his professors and never had the documentation given to them.

I can't help with a law (I did not google search it though, I am sure it will pop up if you are truly interested) but I have seen even at my VA college instances on exams/finals in the instructions that you have X minutes to complete the test, unless you have an arrangement made for learning disabilities and the prof has been made aware of that. I can't remember the exact verbage, but I thought it was cool.

I wouldn't say higher ed is truly optional, the way the world has changed it's hard to be able to support yourself (and especially if you go on to have a family!!) on a high school education- I think it's great that colleges/universities do all they can to make higher education possible for more people.
