True’ Mansion Ghost Stories
Contributed by Scott M. Leonard

"A woman came to Disneyland with the ashes of her little boy who always loved the Haunted Mansion. She tried to get permission to scatter his ashes in the attraction, but of course Disney wouldn't allow it. She did it anyway- adding his remains to the dust in the Mansion. To this day, CMs and Guests have claimed to see a young boy near the exit lift, sitting by the speedramps and crying.

"Another ghost inhabits the Mansion. Near the unload area, there is a mirror so the CM can see if anyone comes down the speedramp. Once, a CM saw a figure that they though was in the CM costume—probably their replacement "bumping" them to another location. But when they turned, there was nobody there. After a few more guests unloaded, the CM saw the figure again. This time, she noticed he was wearing a tuxedo, and he walked up right behind her. She turned, to see an empty hallway. Later that night, she saw the same figure, who walked up behind her, tried to talk (but no sound was heard), and placed his hand on her shoulder. Feeling a chill, she turned to once again see an empty hallway. Completely freaked out, she took off running out of the Mansion. She quit shortly afterward."

Oooh, spooky...

I've heard about people wanting to spread ashes at the park, but I hadn't heard about "real" ghosts...

:scared1: Creepy!!! I was talking to a dream team member on Christmas Day, and she was telling us all about different ghosts and stuff they have at Disneyland. I guess they have even been documented by some paranormal thing about a little boy in a red had that they see walking around. She said they arent 100% sure where he came from, but they have some idea. I wonder if it is the same boy?

I wonder if any of the people that have died at Disneyland are reported to be haunting the place??

Sorry, just had to post again, the look of my ticker is almost sickening!!!

Ok, thread hi-jack over.

Here are someother reported Disneyland ghosts
The Christmas Shop - Some of the stock crew has reported an strange feeling when alone stocking the store for the morning. There is an old photo from the 19th century of a young woman up on one of the shelves. It has been documented several different times that a stock person will noticed the photo frowning (her photo is taken with a straight face) at them along with a strange wind in the room.
Fire Station - some employees heard foot steps at 2nd floor at night and someone knocked the door. The 2nd floor is not open for public and it's been an empty room for several years.-walt?
Haunted Mansion - There are 3 spirits that are in the place all the time, elderly man (who died of a heart attack in Aug. of 1970 before there was a first aid station on the west side of the park), an elderly woman and a young man who has quite a sense of humor. There is also something nasty in the attic just before the omni-movers exit into the graveyard. Witnesses report having hair pulled in the crypt (exit) area with no one in sight, touched on the back by a hand in a car that ended up having no one in the car, seen people walk up the portrait hall or grand staircase, stop and vanish, faces peer from behind the corner at the top of the grand staircase, heard footsteps on the false floor behind the load area when there is no one else there, been touched on the face by unseen hands, seen a man in the exit mirror.
It's a Small World - Lights have turned themselves off/on by themselves, as well as the all the dolls moving without power.
Matterhorn Mountain - The ghost of a woman named Dolly, she was crushed to death after she fell out of her sled and was hit by the sled behind her
Pirates of the Caribbean - The story goes that a young boy and his mom loved the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The boy got cancer and his last wishes was that his ashes be spread over the Pirates ride. Disneyland rejected that for health reasons but his mother did it anyway. At night the ride operators can sometimes see a lone boy riding one of the boats on the video monitors, but when they check it out there is no one.(sounds the same as this HM story so smacks of Urban Legend to me!)
Space Mountain - both the ride itself and the women's (employee) locker rooms are haunted by the ghost of "Mr. One-Way", a guest who died on the Space Mountain ride back in the 1970's. On the ride, he is described as a large man with reddish hair and a red face, and has been seen by guests getting into a car with a lone rider, but he vanishes before the end of the ride.
The Star Trader (4th floor stock room) - Cast members have felt a cold, eerie wind on the 4th floor of the stock room, when there are no doors, vents, or windows up there.
the old "People Mover Ride" - Reports of operating, girls (especially those with long blonde hair) would sometimes feel an unseen someone pull viciously at their hair. The boy died a few years ago on a Grad Night when he jumped out of the cabin of the People Mover, got caught and dragged underneath the car. He grabbed desperately at his girlfriends long blond hair to save himself.
Tom Sawyers Island - The ghost (s) of one or two people have been seen on Tom Sawyers Island. At least three boys (all Grad night victims) have drowned in the Rivers of America.
Tomorrow Land - Reports of a menacing presence accompanied by cold spots.
Innoventions - Years ago when Innoventions wasn't Innoventions and it was America Sings Debby was crushed inbetween the rotating building and the wall and to this day there have been cold spots on the second floor of the Innoventions building.

Ok I hope I didn't make you scared of Disneyland now.:rotfl2:

heard of most of those, haven't heard about the space mountain, pirates, small world, or christmas shop ones though, excellent post!

Creepy!! I want to know more!

This is a fun site in general... but it does have a Disney section as well;) It is all about urban legends and if they are true or just legend!

It does mention deaths and such, but I did not see any mention of hauntings. http://snopes.com/disney/disney.asp

Only if you believe in that type of stuff. I've never seen a hint and the people I know that work the ride haven't seen anything either save for one friend of mine that sees ghosts everywhere.

Skeptics need not apply.

Some of these "deaths" are actually old wives tales. I can not find any death listed on any site pre-1964.

Dolly was one of the people killed on Matterhorn

I see no list of anyone dying on Space Mountain

Only two people have died swimming across River's of America one an 18 year old who stayed with a brother after Tom Sawyer's island closed, they hid to watch fireworks. The older brother was trying to help his little brother who did not swim well and drowned the younger brother surrived. Another teen was drunk on Grad Night and drowned.

I am curious about the Fire House story because the second story is not an empty room but Walt's family apartment. It is still decorated as they left the apartment.

While I am always curious about the deaths attributed to the park (some real some false), I like to see what seems true. Some are true some are not. But I have also heard stories of a haunted Disneyland from many CM's. I have heard of strange hallways and HM and Innovations having strange occurences.

BTW- while looking up some of the info. I have to say I found the most ridiculously anti-disney site EVER. They called switching cars on the People Mover "innocent" and how dare Disney not forsee people wanting to get up on a moving ride and switch cars. This innocent move killed two people. they also blamed Disney for the deaths of two kids sneaking into DL. Go figure!

I love a good ghost story!

Awsome stories thanks for sharing!

do you have the web address to that anti disney site, just curious sounds amusing.

Its an older article and I have to say that it almost sounds fake sometimes how ridiculous the whole thing comes off sounding but here is the link

http://tafkac.org/death/disney_deaths.html

BTW this has to be one of the more ridiculous quotes from the whole thing

In June of 1983, the island lured a second young man to his death in yet another grad night tragedy. That evening, Phil Straughan of Albuquerque had a double cause for celebration: his graduation and his 18th birthday. In an innocent display of youthful high spirits, he and a friend "borrowed" an inflatable rubber maintenance boat for an impromptu nighttime cruise on the river. Near the deadly island, they struck a rock. Phil was flung into the river. As a football player, he had the strength to struggle valiantly. But he was no match for the power of the Rivers of America as four feet of cold, cruel water closed over his head. Rescuers recovered his drowned body an hour later. In all apparent sincerity, a Disney spokesperson said, "It's a really, really sad thing on what's supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life."

Snopes reports that the Guy was actually drinking heavily, which would explain things a bit better then the above scenario http://www.snopes.com/disney/parks/deaths.asp They also list other deaths as well, including Betty from Innovations, but she has her own page, the link is at the bottom of the page.

Ok, if he was only in four feet of water, why didn't he just stand up? (I'm sure the booze had something to do with it . . . ..)

That's what I was thinking. I'm 5 foot 2 inches, so I know I wouldn't drown in it. The "Power" of the river? What are they talking about?

The water is probably more like 6 feet deep and you could drown. I heard that the guy was trying to swim with his younger brother on his shoulders and it turned out the younger one lived and the older brother drowned. It does seem silly to drown in somewhat shallow water but it is dark out there at night and you never know what his swimming capabilties or fears were when he drowned. Maybe he just freaked out and swallowed some water and that was it.

Actually on all but this site it is listed that the guy was drinking heavily. They also were on a boat that they "borrowed" that tipped so he may have been hit on the head, I don't know if I saw that listed or not though.

The other teen who drowned in the RoA is also listed on Snopes. His brother was not a strong swimmer so he was trying to help him. The younger brother lived the older one did not.

You can drowned in shallow water in some cases, it does happen.

The "cold, cruel waters of the Rivers of America was meant to mock the jock who was too drunk to stand up.
