Not sure what to make out of the most recent email. Not sure if it's good or bad.
I can't imagine it being good for the current guides.

Thoughts??

MG

I thought Real Estate Brokers could always sell DVC- isn't that what the whole resale market is based on? What "most recent email" are you referring to?

What email is that? Enlighten us, MG. :)

I have seen some job listings for DVC salespeople where the positions were listed as independent contractor status. But all of the postings suggested Chicago or NY area residency, which suggests they need access to one of the Doorway to Dreams sales centers. I took it to mean that the staff at those locations may be non-employees working on commission.

Is there something else out there?

At least in New York it appears that any real estate broker can contact DVC and get trained to sell new DVC contracts.

My first instincts are:
More outsourcing and watered down Disney experience??
More pressure to purchase?
DVC guides out of work??

MG

If it's NY, I think they're just going the Independent Contractor route to staff DtD.

I know some of the Florida-based guides don't even work at WDW anymore. My guide lives closer to Vero than WDW and simply works out of his home.

Maybe, but it looks to be a little more than that. I wish I knew how to post the email I received.

Okay, not formal with the DVC logos and pics, but a little copy & paste will have to do--

They may have targeted DVC owners a certain geographic radius from NY. I got the email, too...I'm in SE PA.

Not any real estate broker. Only DVC owners.

More pressure to purchase?

Uh let's see. NY brokers on 100% commission. Yeah, I think it's safe to say that the sales pitch will get turned up a notch or two. Or ten!

DVC has similar postings on job sites in NY and Chicago so I don't believe they are exclusively looking for owners.

Well, so much for hoping that at least these new sellers might know the product better than some of the current Guides! :confused3

Wow...so it looks like they are trying to dilute the 'real' guides which I'm sure means they won't have to pay all those pesky salaries and benefits... This is a little disturbing..Who will oversee these folks? They will be, after all, representing DVC and if they resort to high pressure and exaggerations (100% commission pay?) it will reflect poorly on the brand. I see this as very different than the resale market, since you don't expect any "Disney" in that. Will these agents actually work from a Doorways site or from their home with no supervision?

I have just completed the DVC Authorized Independent Sales Agent training and certification. I am a Licensed NY R.E. Broker. There is a designated Broker to oversee the Agents to ensure compliance. We do not sell from the Doorway to Dreams, we sell from home or our offices, etc. The positions are not just for DVC owners (although I happen to be a proud and happy DVC owner:lovestruc).

I am honored to have been selected for this opportunity and I can assure you that there will be no high pressure sales tactics here.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Man! I had contacted my guide about this last year! I am a Licensed MA Realtor and would LOVE to be able to sell DVC! Maybe some day! Chiclet, how did you learn about this opportunity?

Right now they are only looking for agents in NY and IL. I received two e-mails. One had been directed at DVC members and the other had been sent to NY Licensed Realtors. It truly is a dream opportunity!:goodvibes

The offer went out to Licensed Real Estate Salespeople and Brokers in NY and IL. At this time these are the only areas they are looking for agents in.

I am a Licensed Real Estate Broker. DVC has a broker of record who oversees all whether their license is with them or not.

Commissions are on a sliding scale. I am not at liberty to disclose amounts. DVC would have to give you that info, sorry.

Thanks so much. I'm very excited about the opportunity!!:cheer2:

I live outside of Philadelphia and got the email about being a DVC guide for NY but I'd have to be a licensed real estate agent in NY. I'm assuming it's because geographically I'm not too terribly far from NY? not sure whey I got the email honestly!

I am a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Oregon and would LOVE to sell DVC!:woohoo:
