Howdy,
We got back sunday from a 3 day cruise on the Wonder. It was awesome!
The weather only rained once, unfortuately it was during the time of the sail away party. They did hold it in the atrium. It was good, but not nearly as good as the outside party. But they did a good job considering what they had to work with. The rest of the time it was cloudy, breezy and upper 80's.
We have cruised many times so we decided this one would be a relaxing one instead of trying to do everything on board. The food was excellant and now with the staggered dining times the service is much faster. We had 2 very friendly families at our table. So meals were very pleasant.
The duo Don and Tommie were in the Promenade Lounge. We had seen them earlier this year and we really enjoyed their music. They remembered us and did many of our requests, and made us feel just like family. They even loaned us their cam corder to tape them, since I forgot ours. That was way above the job description! While we recorded they went out of their way to speak to us, calling us by name and singing our favorites. At one point Don got the cam corder and recorded us on stage by Tommie and then when she sang one of my favorites, she came over and grabbed me to come up and sing and dance around with her, while my DH recorded it. That was hilarious since I'm a granny who hasnt tried to dance in over 30 years, I have no rhythm and I sure cant sing, but it was FUN to try. They talked with us many times throughout the cruise and even introduced us to other musicians in the other 2 bands on board. They were very nice too. They even managed to get us in a Conga line around the pool! That was a first for us, probably a last too! It was funny to see i'm sure for those who were sitting around the pool area.
On Pirate night we went to the Little Matey's dance party in studio sea. It was so much fun to see the little kids all dressed as pirates and princesses and dancing all over the stage. They had a ball. Believe me they had much better dance steps than this old lady! Each child was given a piece of pirate's gold for attending the party.
The pirate party was awesome, as usual. The sky was clear for the fireworks and it was very warm even late at night. The dessert buffet was beautiful to see, but we were disappointed they didnt have any sugar free desserts. DH is diabetic and they have none there or at Cooke's BBQ.
At Nassau we didnt do any excursions since we have already done all we wanted to do on previous cruises. We did walk around town and got some nice souvenirs at the straw market. My DH loves to dicker for prices, so we got some great buys.
Castaway cay was cloudy, windy, but very hot, so great for going in the water. We had 12 foot swells most of the trip so the seas were too rough at CC for the parasailing, deep sea fishing, glass bottom boat, snorkeling tour.
But all the beach activities were a go! We hiked to the farthest point on the island where you can go and back again. By then it was time for lunch at Cooke's BBQ. Then it was back to the ship for some time in the adult pool and hot tubs. We were the only people there. It was great to have all that to ourselves. About the time we came out of the pool, Don and Tommie came by and sat and visited with us for awhile, then we all went to hear Eddie sing in the island band by the family pool. He has a very pleasant voice. We really enjoyed all the bands this trip. High Frequency was the house band. They were really high energy and very talented.
We love disney cruises and have 3 - 7 day cruises booked already. We cant wait to see the Magic after it comes out of dry dock. It should be awesome!
I guess the only things we were unhappy about was the lack of sugar free desserts at the buffet, and Cooke's BBq, and no sugar free ice cream at scoops. Hopefully that will change soon.
The other thing is having to get off the ship that last day! AUGH!!!!
We are now suffering through DCL withdrawals.
No chocolates on our pillows
No waiter to put our napkins in our laps
No chef to cook our meals
No hostess to clean our room,
Just cook our own food, do the dishes, make the bed, wash the clothes!
It's all too depressing to think about.
We need another DCL fix fast!!
We go on 12/17/05 I hope I can hold out until then!!!
