What company for booking is best to use?
Book airfare separately?

What if there's a Hurricane that week?

Is a verandah necessary?
Much difference betw. portholes & larger windows?

What do you think is most desirable category for a family of 4 in the "windows only" rooms?

I've heard rumor of "secret porthole rooms" - what are they & where?

Where are "pockets" of quietest rooms?
With that in mind, what are the best decks, close to things, but also somewhat quieter?

(We have small children (5 & 7)).....

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!!!!

Well, I can answer some of those, most however are truely opinion, so you will hear lots of answers to those questions.

Dreams Unlimited is cited frequently for excellent service and value. I'd start there for booking. Re: flights.....you can book flights cheaper and more to your timeschedule than allowing Disney book them. However, if you book w/ DU, that issue is moot.

Verandahs.......some people swear by them. Us, we like cat. 11 for the darkness and getting kids (and hubby) to sleep for naps(also very cheap). Others like the verandahs for kids so they can read on the porch while kids nap......personal opinion.

Secret porthole rooms and other window questions.....I'd refer you to Barb and Tony's site for great pics www.castawayclub.com

Quiet rooms.....I think Dave from Marietta has a list of them on his site www.dcltribute.com

Enjoy researching.........there are lots of opinions out there!

Please send me an e-mail and I will give you my agents information. She has booked me on several trips and her pricing hands down is always the best.
Pal2Pluto hit it right on the head ...room preferences are based upon personal opinion...personally I prefer the virandah - you get to see, feel and hear a lot.
Hurricane season ends in November the crew wouldn't take you into a storm. They would go around it - possibly changing your ports but avoiding a storm.
The best research you can do is read the posts here on the boards and just ask lots of questions.
Pop me an e-mail and I'll get you my agents info - she's awesome!

Definately check out Dreams Unlimited! Not only do they offer super service, but they also have various incentives for using them (ie. stateroom credits etc).

We booked through DU and booked our air seperate as we used a free ticket through frequent flyer miles. We also saved a TON of money over booking with Dis....not always the case, but it was in ours.

Verandahs are not necessary, but I will warn you...once you have one, it will be hard to cruise withOUT one!:)

I am not sure about the most desirable category for a family of four...we are a family of three and are very comfortable in the cat 6. they do have the cat 11's which seem popular with other families not desiring the verandah.

We have stayed on deck 5 and found it very quiet, we will be on deck 6 this time, so not sure there. On different cruises I have booked according to the following: mid-ship, deck situated between two room-only decks...in other words, not below or above a public area, and close to, but not right by, the elevators.

Keep in mind that ANY deck on the Wonder/Magic is close to the action! Deck 3 offers the bar/lounges, deck 4 has dining and theaters, deck five has kids clubs and movie theater, deck nine has resteraunts and pools...etc.

Hope this helps. Please check out Barb's site and Dave's site as mentioned above...they are a wealth of great information!

Happy cruisin'
Lisa
