Okay.... so over a year ago I promised DD that I would finish her swim scrapbook in time for her graduation in June 2013. I put my whole heart and soul into scrapping from June of 2012 until about this past March (although even during those months I had VERY LITTLE TIME).... when it occurred to me that the house had been totally neglected and we were hosting a big party in the summer to celebrate her graduation.

So I pushed the scrapping aside and went into full-on house reno mode! Cleaning, painting, yard work, etc.... and did NOT touch the scrapping again! Needless to say, I did not fulfill my promise (although DD was really forgiving about it).

Now she is off to school, my schedule has lightened up in a way I couldn't even imagine last year at this time, and it is time to get back to scrapping! But I seem to have lost my mojo. I want to scrap and I feel like I NEED to scrap... and the swim stuff is still top-most on the pile. But I just keep looking at it and then going to find something else to do!

How do I get back into it?? I love it and want to scrap, but can't seem to jump in. Should I put the swim stuff aside for now? Maybe I'm just bored with that project?? Maybe it is time to do something for DS for a while??

Any suggestions??? (BTW, I am a strictly paper girl)..................P

I say set it aside and do something else for awhile.

I also suggest trying some pocket pages like wrmk or simple stories, really all companies have them now. I like the challenge of the "premade" Lo and filling it up. They've really brought back my mojo. I need to order more so I can keep going!

Good luck getting back to it.

 Hi pjlla!!

I say challenge yourself with 2 swim pages this weekend on Saturday and 2 pages on Sunday... do it with a load of laundry.. you have to get those 2 pages done within the time limit you need for the load of laundry to be washed and dried!!

I'm working on getting DS17's stuff done before his graduation May 2014... I got DD's done 2 weeks before graduation of 2012.... but have since neglected college life..that is a goal for Christmas break when she can journal.

Good Luck!! You can do it!!

Great idea! I do better with a challenge and with a time limit. Otherwise I can perseverate on color choices, layouts, journaling, etc ENDLESSLY!!

Any other challenges you'd like to throw down??:rotfl: .....................P

I do love the idea of trying some of the new "Project" (project life, project Mickey) type things, but right now I am not ready to spend any more money! I have got so much scrap stuff! I need to finish her swim book as a traditional scrapbook. That being said, I have considered using the pocket pages to help me "catch up" a bit and use them on some projects like my Disney books (I currently need to do a 2008 family trip, 2011 AND 2013 Mother/Daughter trips.... thank heavens I finished my Mother/Son 2010 trip early!). But you are right.... it may be time to set the swim stuff aside for a while. I am so sick of scrapping with BLUE that I could SCREAM!! I thought limiting my color palette for her swim books would help make things faster, but I am out of ideas for blue (for the water), black and yellow (first club team) and red (high school team).... and I haven't even REACHED the point where I will need to add purple (for the club team she swam with for her senior year).

I'd LOVE to do some Disney scrapping or robotics scrapping or even EVERY DAY LIFE scrapping! Maybe it is time for a short change of scenery!!:lmao: Thanks for the suggestions........P

I've found that picking a color scheme is sometimes a double edged sword. :) makes choices east, but its the same stuff, different page.

I've been mixing in pocket pages with my traditional pages. Using up lots of items and swap stuff in the process. And getting more caught up.

I scrap chronologically so I have to be done with something in order to move on. But I've been stuck with pics that are just meh. But pocket pages make it go faster. ;) I am going to take a break from what I'm working on to get my girls' dance albums caught up. But I can't seem to find some pics that I bought. :)

I think I have the opposite problem - a big desire to scrap but zero time to do it. I get this feeling like I HAVE TO do something creative or I'll burst. As a scrapper, I'm sure you get that feeling, too, so run with it!

A couple weekends ago I didn't have any exams the next week or lab reports to write but I had to fix the mess in my craft room/office. I decided to go through all of my scrap stuff - paper, stickers, die cuts, etc. - and I donated a ton to a local Hospice kid's group that makes cards for the sick and elderly. They loved getting the stuff and it got me excited to see all the cool stuff I really do have! Maybe organizing all of your stuff will spark an idea or get you excited to use some papers you haven't seen in awhile. Bonus - you get to clean out the stuff you know you'll never use!

I know I won't have much time to do anything else this year - when my laundry is on I'm trying to get through a few organic chemistry problems! Over Spring Break next year I'm planning to do our August cruise and start our 2012 trip to Holland and Belgium. Notice I use the word "planning"

Good luck getting and staying motivated, and congratulations on having more time to do it!

What about using a sketch or scraplift a layout - something to get you started. Pinterest has oodles of both. The scrapbooking webistes like 2 peas, A Cherry on Top, etc. have galleries.

The funny thing is, I like to organize so much that sometimes when I should be scrapping, I just end up cleaning and organizing my scrap stuff!

If you get a big creative urge but don't have much time, what about making a card or two? I've made a few in the past several months.... mostly because they were needed, but also to deal with occasional urges to scrap when I didn't really have time!

Thanks for the suggestions.

Nuts for sketches

If you're on Pinterest, you can do a search for scrapbook sketches. That would probably work in Google too.

Well, as usual.... just about the time I THOUGHT I was free to start scrapping, life got busy again. DD was home last weekend for the long weekend, but that meant 12 hours of driving for me between Friday night and Monday afternoon (I went down Friday night and stayed over. She couldn't leave until about noon on Saturday because of swim.). Then once we were home it was laundry and visiting time. Now I am free TODAY, but have to go to a work meeting for about 5 hours tomorrow (including drive time). I totally plan to get a few HOURS of scrapping in today. Housework and yard work be damned! ::yes::

SO PN96, I'll take you up on your previous challenge to do 4 swim pages in a weekend (probably all today)! And I'd LOVE to have a new challenge from you or ANYONE! I work best under pressure!

I'll try to post pictures of this weekend's completed pages too!

Thanks ALL of you for helping me get back in the scrapping mode!............P

I will find a cool layout on pinterest for you... or some where and post it for you to try next weekend!!!

If you want to follow my on pinterest I am 3DisneyKids96!

I'll have a new challenge for you later today!!!
I understand what you mean about life getting in the way... Just finish soccer season for my senior in HS and football season for my 7th grader... so my last 2 weeks have been complete chaos with end of season activities...

Then today I had to finish a soccer themed paper bag album by 5pm for a friend who needs it tomorrow but didn't call till last night! :faint: I was done by 2pm...

Hi Pjlla!

Interspersing traditionally scrapped pages with pocket pages has saved my scrappy life! My "blended" albums hold way more photos, get done faster, and still "tell the story."

Now, I scrap title pages, "chapter" heading pages, and some pages that hold either extra large photos or memorabelia or both. Everything else goes in various configurations of pocket page. If a page needs journalling I put it in one of the pockets. Sometimes, I even caption on the photos. it's been VERY liberating.

I totally understand, I have not traditionally scrapped in a year! DH works from home, so my scrap space became his home office about 18 months ago. I am gonna follow some of the suggestions here to try and get my mojo back.

I am working on a smash book for this year to get my groove back and I hope to get back to full scrapping after the holidays.
