#7/25 Real Bad Things by Kelly J Ford
When Jane Mooney’s violent stepfather, Warren, disappeared, most folks in Maud Bottoms, Arkansas, assumed he got drunk and drowned. After all, the river had claimed its share over the years.
When Jane confessed to his murder, she should have gone to jail. That’s what she wanted. But without a body, the police didn’t charge her with the crime. So Jane left for Boston—and took her secrets with her.
Twenty-five years later, the river floods and a body surfaces. Talk of Warren’s murder grips the town. Now in her forties, Jane returns to Maud Bottoms to reckon with her past: to do jail time, to face her revenge-bent mother, to make things right.
But though Jane’s homecoming may enlighten some, it could threaten others. Because in this desolate river valley, some secrets are better left undisturbed.

Parts were good, parts were just meh. Could have been better.

So January 2 I wrote 30 books... but weather has turned for the worst in the Sonoran desert...so starting early... this is book 6/30..1-5 of no consequence... our library has a great entry and currently showcasing trending books.so I picked this one.. and I read why on this one... great air travel book... ocean side...pool side... but not your reading chair or night stand... this is a huge 🎂 🎂( small book)🍰 🍰 with many, many slices... Alice Feeney..His and Hers.. organized for slow reading until the end...then the reading chair... with no responsibility for interaction to others

And for reference... the best novel I have read is Joanne Harris... five quarters of an orange 🍊 🍊

#12/55-"Academy" by Elin Hildebrand and her daughter (Shelby?). Very Enjoyable-I taught at a private boarding school, as did my parents, so this resonated with me. I give this 4 1/2 stars.
What is your 5 star book for her.. read 3 last summer... Golden girl AND the Inn... Forgot title...,,3rd book... couldn't go past 20 pages... only 5 her books surface at book sale..3 of them mine

4/12: A Solitude of Wolverines (Alex Carter #1) by Alice Henderson

Follows a wildlife biologist studying wolverines in Montana. A solid read with a few unexpected twists.
