To all you good men, who frequent our thread, or are connected to someone on this thread. My father, however imperfect, was my first love. He was the most imortant man in my life, really until I got married, and is still tied for that number one spot today. Never underestimate the influence you have on your children. I honor each one of you today. Ed, Leftie, Joe, Chap, Mark, MG (even though you aren't a dad yet or ever), Lou, Hoopster, Lil G, Chris' Paul, Grammy's John and all the other partners of the great Maelstrom women...have a wonderful day.

My daughter woke up this morning and said, "Happy Father's Day, Mom."
and then she gave my a kiss.

oh, and some shameless mom bragging here, when Em graduated from elementary school on friday, she had many awards, including one for top grades in her class.
I am so proud of her.

Again, Happy Father's Day, enjoy your barbeque's and your families. We have Em's dance recital tonight, so no bbq for us.

Good morning, and Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful Maelstrom daddies. To all of us really, because whether you ARE a father, HAVE a father, or KNOW a devoted father, the day is to celebrate fatherhood and honor all of the gifts that men share in their capacity as dragon-slayers, tucker-inners, role models (for how to be or how to strive to be better) and life-shapers.


Just wanted to share with you our morning. I had taken the kids to the Picture People a few weeks ago and had a portrait done. It's probably the nicest photo of my kids all together, ever. We framed up a 10x13 for Doug. There were tears. We all hooted and hollered because we made Daddy cry. (if I can figure out how to link to the pic, I'll show you)

I also had the kids each choose a "gift that can't be wrapped" for their dad. Piper chose "coloring together, just me and Daddy." Syd said "How about we take him to the movie fee-ay-ter of Cars?" and Conor gave him "let's go to Disney." Ok so next time I have to be a little more specific that the idea of "gift that can't be wrapped" means it doesn't have to cost money.

(but .... pssst! We are going in January! 8 days at Beach Club villas! )

When are you going in Jan? DH and I have to decide between Jan 13-20th or Feb 3rd-10th. I have this crazy 3 week rotation so I am limited as to when I can go. Maybe we'll see ya there! We're shooting for either BCV or BWV.

I guess the problem with not posting on the weekend or at night is always being behind on the big happenings.

I am tired.

Physically I am tired due to the play. It is over now, so that will all change shortly.

Mentally I am tired of the present situation. I started to post something witty like a "word of the day" theme for the thread and start with the word Inconsistency, or Jealousy, or dictatorship. Something fitting.

But I am too tired.

I thought about using the word Prison, but that isn't really true. No one here is trapped into staying.

I am not saying that I am leaving. I will definitely be back.

But for now...

I am tired.
