Last edited by nicolemarie : Today at 07:08 PM. Reason: Rhonda - we ate at Jeneane's tonight. I'm not kidding. I thought of you.

How could you, after what I told you?? Nevah again will I set foot in there. Nevah. Evah. Well, I sure hope your dinner sits better than my (one) from there did!

Guys (this is all inclusive), we had a blast. Really. October is going to be unbe-freakin'-lievable. How's that for a word?

And how's this? YAK and company are probably swimming in the Hippy Dippy Pool and having libations from the Petal Pool Bar RIGHT NOW. Well, YAK. I think "and company" are a bit too young for libations.

Grammy, do I have your permission for a libation tonight? VBS was a bit wearing. Kids were wild. Mine, in particular. Too much root beer (lunch) and Sprite (dinner). No more two soft drink days for him.

MarkyMark is back at the hospital with the family. Expect another late night for him. And he is exhausted as it is.

Latoberg, yes, I meant you. Another UM Preacher Disney Freak. Huh. Didn't know there were two of you in the world! Welcome! We're kind of nuts (nut wings?? that's a new-ish one on me!), but we're fun. We might drive you to libations, though. Look what they've done to me!! (Yes, Frick, you bad influence, you!)

Frick and Jami, great to talk to you guys today. Wish you had been here! We'll do it again!!

Bath time for my sugared up kid. Geez, I hope he can wind down and go to sleep.

Hugs, love, etc.

Rhonda :)

OK, I'm 5 pages back, but I had to respond - I hated it, too! It looked so cheap. I wondered how on earth they were going to be able to do it in the store - I think I was expecting a machine like they write your name on Mickey ears ;)

Glad you like the bag - when I get tired of it, I'll ship it your way! We should have some kind of share plan ;)

Ok I am like five million pages back...but I had to post to this...

Yes WAAAYYYYY cheap. I am dissappointed actually.

YOU BOUGHT THE HIPSTER???

Girl....we must share a brain or something. If in fact you did buy that bag.
Have you seen that webstie Bag borrow or steal? or something like that..you can rent bags. Like Balenciaga, Louis, and stuff like that.

I recently started reading editoreric.com's 1000 books you should read in your lifetime. I'm reading a lot of different things I wouldn't have normally picked up and read on my own. I'm only 10% through the list (anything I read prior to 5 years ago I told myself I would have to read again), but already there's been some wonderful stuff. Some of my favorites so far:

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Tobacco Road - Erskine Caldwell (the epitome of 'trailer trash')
Cousin Bette - Honore de Balzac
Silas Marner - George Eliot
Of Human Bondage - Somerset Maugham
Winnie-the-Pooh - A. A. Milne
Lolita - Vladmir Nabokov
Cry, the Beloved Country - Alan Paton (struggles of South Africa)
Ethan Frome - Edith Wharton
Misery - Stephen King
Goblin Market (poem) - Christina Rosetti

There are just so many good things to read out there! I wish I had more time!

Is there a link to that list when you get to that website???
Because that sounds very interesting and something I would love to tackle!!

2IAB, where the freak are you???

AshAshBaby I am here. Oy what a week I've had. Why did I pick today to stop sniffing glue???

Been VERY busy with the kiddos.

Had a horrible day in the flooding rain yesterday. Car troubles. Waited 4 freakin hours to have it towed. Got it back today, drove it home. DH wanted to go the store for a snack...took the car...and the SAME thing happened. (Power steering issue, that caused engine to almost overheat, and drained the battery.) I think I have some kind of horrible car curse on me. We just got this car, from my parents (long story), who had it checked out...after having the MOST unreliable car on the planet....
UGH.....

On a happier note, DD is doing REALLY well at gymnastics. The things she can do are AMAZING. It has been tough to adjust to 9 hours in the gym though. The gym is just far enough away from home, that is doesn't make sense to drop her off and head home....but 3 hours at a time is too much for the other 2 kiddos to sit and watch...

...ok back to trying to catch up....

Latoberg, welcome! You really seem to fit right in with this bunch of wackos. Not that you're a wacko, but, well, y'know. We're having fun with our new visitors, aren't we?!

Well, I haven't been ceritified, yet. Does that count?

When I told a parishioner I had encountered another UM preacher that was into Disney, the response was, "Oh crap! Now we have to listen to another one!"

Wasn't things like that what got the Maelstrom locked? :sad2:

Come play! Somebody? Anybody? I have a few free minutes...for a change! What, is Amy bathing her kids again?? How dirty do they get at school, anyway? (This from the person whose child, post lunch, had "baked bean juice" [as he called it] not only on his face and elbow, but also on his knee.)

2jen! You're back! I've missed you baby!! I know you're busy, though.

I feel the need to officially welcome latoberg (or should I say lactoberg) and QT to the thread.

Slice of Life

Just because I finally downloaded these photos and thought I would share.

We have spent a lot of time by the pool these last few weeks, last time we were at my sisters club pool I took some pictures. If you live in her neighbor hood the HOA fees give you limited access to the country club (which is in the middle of her neighborhood). You get to use the pool as much as you want, the gym, the free drop in child care center (limited hours, but free), and you get to use the golf course X number of times a year (after that there are fees). Yeah, I checked to see if we could afford this neighborhood. We can't.

It is a lovely pool and there is a little cafe with pool side service. I am really enjoying her pool privileges :) My sister adopted two babies earlier this year, virtual twins, they are 15 and 18 months old. She can't go to the pool without another set of hands, it stresses her out too much. So I help her with the little ones, which I love, and we all have a good time. This time Mr. Silly went too. He does not like pools very much, but I think he liked this one.

When we decided to *think* about moving to Texas neither of us had ever been here. We both pictured a dusty, dry, sandy place. I remember flying in for the first time and looking out my window as we approached Austin. It was green and lush and there was lots of water. I made the guy next to me laugh when I told him I thought Texas would look like a John Wayne movie.

Austin is really a very pretty place.

Here is the view from the pool:

and looking the other way, the dirt road is a hiking trail.

I'm really thinking about starting to get a complex. It's kinda like when your trying to choose a name for your kid so other people's punk kids won't make fun of your kids' name.

BTW...Alton Brown just drew a big (un)hidden Mickey on Good Eats. And referenced Mickey doing it. He's my hero (AB not MM)(although I like Mickey well enough)(See I told you I was staring to get a complex)

Here is Max (though you can't really see him)
100_3042.jpg

And Sophia
100_3051.jpg

Both Max and Sophia are fair swimmers. They both dislike water on their faces, but get over it after awhile in the pool. Neither one will jump in :confused3 but they both like water slides.

100_3028.jpg

There is also a little slide for younger kids and pop jets around it. Sophia discovered that if you cover one of the pop jets it will make the other ones shoot up. She got some poor little kid before I could stop her

100_3029.jpg

There is also a cool water play area, which no one was playing with for most of the day :confused3 . Mr. Silly and I both thought it was fun :teeth:

100_3030.jpg

I don't have pictures of the lap pool. It is a rectangle. Not very exciting.

Here is one of my nephew and Mr. Silly, he is 18 months old now. Sophia was trying to surprise him with the pop jet fountain effect she had discovered.

100_3034.jpg

And one of Mr. Silly and my niece who is 15 months and tiny. She used to be afraid of him, he loves babies so he was glad she has gotten over that.

100_3056.jpg

Here is one with my sister in it. She and I look very much alike so it is as close as I have of a picture of me :rotfl:

100_3026.jpg

Here are slightly better ones of Sophia and Max. I didn't get any great pictures of either of them. I didn't have my camera out for long since we were at a pool and all.

Haley...I am going to be coming to Austin at some point. I can't wait to hear about it.

ILunch consisted of a fresh mini loaf of Wheat Bread and Amish Peanut Butter...ummmm! If you've never tried Amish PB you are missing out! It's Peanut Butter, Maple Syrup and Marshmallow Cream. YUMMY!
Mom and I had Amish Chicken and Noodles over REAL mashed potatoes. DH had the Chuck Roast Beef in Amish spices. Seems Grammy is corrupting the Amish too!
Dessert was Peach Pie for Mom and Fresh Strawberry for me! DH had MORE Peanut Butter. He may need a laxative later.
Shelby YUM! cept for the chicken. That peanut butter sounds unbelievable. I may actually go and whip some of that up right now, as I am starving. And I love love love peach pie!
Then the cutest little Amish girl, she must have been about 4 came running down the street towards us and handed Mom a pamphlet. Religious propaganda from the Church of God. If kidnapping was legal, she would have been MINE. She was so cute with her pony tail braids and little navy blue dress. Oh how I would've liked to play dress up with her in a Children's Place. I would of taken her picture but she ran off to the next tourist.
Awww. I know how you feel....When I did not have kids, I drooled over little cuties like this and dreamed of dressing them up too....
And one for Horsey.
ee0becba.jpg

We could have done the horse tour of the town for $12.00 each...but I really didn't have the urge to be at the rear end of a horse on a 85 degree day with 90% humidity, not to mention being behind the Amish driver wearing pants and a long sleeved shirt on a 85 degree day in 90% humidity.

After doing the 'town' we went to the flea's. We basically wanted to shop the farmer's market because the flea portion is nothing but crappy socks, 'As Seen On TV' gadgets, and anything that doesn't sell at Big Lots.
Amish + Horse Poo + Humidity = an overwhelming stench.
We bought bing cherries and green beans and got out of dodge.
I still say great smells, but I understand if it doesn't appeal to you. Does it help with regards to your image of me that I wear Shalimar? I actually smell quite sweet I think...ANyway, thatnk for thinking of me Shelby, and I loved your mini trippie! You gave us a great little window into that world. Thanks!

I adore Alton Brown. He is so funny.
He has another show about to start, did you know that???
I can't wait to see it.
He visits stores in my hometown so of course I like him :)
