i am in complete shock i looked on my credit card unbilled activity and saw 3 charges for $500, 340 and $208 under WDW Dine Tickets LBV florida Walt disney world resort. that is a total of $1108. i made my dining reservations on friday. at no time was i informed there was any charge. i have the deluxe dining package which has been paid for. we did not have the california grill which i think they charge you $20 pp if you dont show up. after talking to 5 different people, a lady tells me they have information but it is confidential and they will not tell me. discover says they paid the $1108. there is something seriously wrong and i am now booked at portofino bay and want a full refund. how is this possible?????:mad::mad:

Did you book any places like CRT or HDDR? I know that they require you to give a credit card number. You must ahve given them your credit card number for something otherwise they wouldn't have been able to charge you :confused3

Maybe if you let us know what meals you booked, we might be able to shed some light on it for you.

i booked le cellier, chef mickeys, narcosees, citricos, rainforest, mama melrose, tutto italia, hollywood and vine, crystal palace, yak and yeti, captains grill, planet hollywood - at no time was i asked for a credit card. at no time did i give them a credit card - as a matter of fact, they specifically told me there were no restaurants on there that required a credit card.

they charged the card that i had put my initial deposit on and subsequent payments but i never once gave them a credit card when i made my reservations.

Was the Mama Melrose or Hollywood and Vine reservation for a Fantasmic Package? If the person taking the reservation didn't understand you are on DDP, they may have charged you for that :confused3

wow...that would be a shocker. That sounds like fraud to me. None of those restaurants should require paid in full - and if you're on the dining plan, they shouldn't charge anything anyway. I would definitely be talking to your credit card company fraud department, now.

I would call Discover - tell them you are disputing the charges. They will take the charge off of you card temporarily. Next I would call and try to speak to a manager at Disney and try to straighten everything out. None of the restaurants you mentioned require a deposit.

It actually seems like fraud to me. When I did my Akershus ressie yesterday, there was a $1 hold that showed up on my card. It was something along the lines of CRO Walt Disney Lake Buena Vista. No dining mentioned at all.

I hate to say, but I don't think this was Disney. I think it was fraud. Every charge that I have ever had on my card from Disney has had the same hold identifier on it: CRO DISNEY RESORT-DISN 4073630029 FL XXXX CHKCD PURCH (the xs are the last 4 digits of my debit card--hope you understand). See that number: 4073630029? It's a number for disney world--I checked to make certain. Perhaps you can call the number and find out exactly what your charges are? I wish you the best!

It sounds like a serious mistake to me then. I can't believe that somebody at Disney wouldn't help you out. Suggest you call back and speak to a manager.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe they charge you (up front) for the Fantasmic Dinner Package, even if you're not on the DDP. Isn't it just a hold, in case you don't show up? That's what I was told last week. :confused3

they said someone would get back to me but the weird thing is they said they found the information but would not give me the information - they said it was confidential??????

Yeah call your credit card company. That is insane!

How is it confidential if it is your information? Perhaps they want to call themselves to the number listed on the reservation?

ETA: I also agree to call the credit card company and flag it as a fraudulent charge. They will have to investigate, but in the meantime, you will not be charged.

Something about this still screams credit card fraud. I've never seen a charge like this and when I called Disney to inquire about charges made during my trip, they not only told me what they were, they told me the items I bought that came up to the charge.

This part wouldn't concern me too much -- if it turns out to be just an error, they'll clear it up. But if it really is fraudulent charges, they won't tell you much. I had a fraud charge on one of my credit cards last year -- the initial call was from the credit card company because the billing address & shipping address didn't match. When I said I hadn't used that card in more than 2 years, they clammed right up about what the actual charge was. They told me to call the merchant immediately. Which I did. The merchant wouldn't give me much info either, other than to verify that I did not order baby clothes from them. Then the credit card security department took over, massive quantities of paperwork and the whole thing was reversed with no cost to me of course.

HUH...this is so strange.

Is it possible that a Disney employee used the information and is involved in credit card fraud? It happens more often than people think.

If this were Disney practice, charging the credit card up front for dining, we would have heard it more than in this instance.

I do believe that the others are right and that there is probably credit card fraud involved here. Your best recourse is to contact your credit card company at this time and resolve the issue with them.

Also, where it is possible that a dining reservation agent could have done what creativeamanda suggest, it'd be challenging since the OP didn't give their credit card in this instance. (She said this in a pp. "they charged the card that i had put my initial deposit on and subsequent payments but i never once gave them a credit card when i made my reservations. ")
