It’s interesting how people have different experiences. I was able to click through the whole process getting regular boarding groups about 5 times through one minute. At the one minute mark I clicked back, and everything was gone. No backup groups.
This happened to me a couple of days ago. Never saw the Status as "Backup" before they were all gone. It’s interesting how people have different experiences. This! They have got to do better with this. I don't know exactly what the solution is but the current system is awful. So what is the solution here? This is not sustainable. Literally all gone in a minute?! Do people leave HS if they aren't successful? I'm sure there are lots of people who don't have park hoppers so it's not like they can just hang out at Epcot if they don't get a BG. Based on the wait times I'm seeing this past weekend, my guess is most people just stay and get into other ride lines. I'm just imagining the crowds being oppressively bad in April.... Ugh......

My friend is there today. I tried to help from home - but by the time I picked from the list of friends, it said they already had a BG ... my screen had been in regular groups ... bt they got back up 81. Does that seem odd? That was the same experience I had from home.

This is the only system available for the current condition on the ride. That's it. There is honestly nothing else they can do until the ride becomes more reliable and they can switch to the more traditional standby queueThis! They have got to do better with this. The only time I’ve ever gotten a pop up was after it switched to backup groups, telling me that was what I would get and describing what a backup boarding group meant. I’ve never gotten a pop up right at 8:00.first time practicing from home today since my trip is coming up in less than 2 weeks.
one thing i noticed is the first time you click through, an extra pop-up comes up that tells you more about the boarding group that you have to click OK after you click join and before you select your party. that adds extra latency first time you go through this, so im glad i did this practice run and would suggest everyone to do so. After that, i did get through about 6-7 times.
but every second counts!
It's possible that, by the time the BG was assigned from your attempt, you may have also been at a backup number. With things going from regular to backups to gone in mere seconds, undoubtedly there are folks that think they'll get one category and find themselves in the next within that lapsed time.My friend is there today. I get that. In the confines of the Dis Bubble, sure seems like this is just a maddening proposition. But maybe most people are sort of "eh, if we get it, great - if not, there's plenty of other things to do." I know Disney isn't doing this deliberately. But one would think, after 2+ months of operations, plus now running it on the other coast, there are sufficient data points to try to figure out why the ride is breaking down so much and how they could adjust things so that more people can ride. It's crazy to me that it's harder now to get a boarding pass than right after it first opened. Yes, fewer operating hours - but that goes back to my point about increasing reliability. Also, I wonder if people really did plan their trips to a "slower period of time" (LOL) or after the land had been opened for a while and now there's just a giant influx of pent up demand? It's quite astonishing how crowded the parks were this weekend. This is the only system available for the current condition on the ride. That's it. I think that the amount of people ONLY going for RotR is small, the park arguably has the best thrill rides on property, along with stage shows so most will be disappointed or even upset but they go about their DHS day
The demand is huge and the ride is just not performing at peak level. Disney doesn't want angry guests and they are doing everything they can to try and find the kinks.
Disney LOVES this. Park full of hungry people at rope drop who stay all day? They’ll never change it.

Don't you think if there was a solution they wouldn't done it already? Every day, every hour CMs are breaking down backstage because they are getting yelled at every minute, managers have to come out and basically become therapists on the job, entitled people expecting things that cannot be provided roaming around screaming, entiicing others to revolt (I know it sounds dramatic but I have seen people do this at the park)I get that.
