Not sure if anyone is doing anything with backup group data, but just in case, we got backup boarding group 124 around 7:45am. (Weren't really planning to try today since we rode on Sunday, but saw they were still available and got one...). Looks rather hopeful we may get on this evening.

The system is not able to make return times until the rides are open and a wait time is posted (the method they use is posted wait time minus 10 minutes) I can report that I tried this myself on a day I went to ride ROTR and no go. You will need to wait until the rides are open to secure a return time. I would personally get one as soon as the park opens and then do other stuff until your time (Star Tours, Swirling Saucers, Launch Bay, etc)

This must have been meant in response to someone else. Maybe relating to DAS?

Disability Assistance, a system to shorten waits for those that need it
Actually, DAS doesn't shorten waits. It allows those who cannot wait in line to wait their turn somewhere else. It is for those who have issues not related to mobility that make waiting in a crowded line difficult (think Autism, chronic fatigue ect). The system was changed a few years ago due to the amount of abuse. Anyone with mobility issues is to use an ECV ro wheelchair, and the DAS is designed for those from whom waiting in a line is impossible for other reasons.

Semantics but same exact end results.
Exactly what I meant. I tried to give them PP a short answer that generalized it, and I stand by what I said.
I just assumed that everyone would just fill in the missing words, shorten wait IN LINE.
And honestly, no matter how you spin in, it does shorten the wait period, the majority of the time also.
Because I bet 9 out of 10 times, if that same party got in the stand by line, their wait would be longer than the return time given them with their DAS

Does everyone in a boarding group have to enter the line at the same time? Meaning if our group gets called and my 6 year old freaks and decides she's too scared, can myself and older dd enter the line and then after we are off can my dh still ride it with older dd using younger dd's spot? Or do they offer child swap on this ride?

We don't have any repository of that data but it's REALLY helpful when people share that stuff. We have no idea how many backups they hand out or if they're getting through all of them each day.

It really doesn't shorten the wait time, that's a common misconception. Sometimes it even extends it if you factor in the fact that standby times are often inflated and/ or add a wheelchair to the mix. They are given the current standby time minus 10 minutes as their return time. When the time comes they return and are placed in the fast pass line. You cannot get another wait time until that one has passed. That is it. How it works every time. You will wait the same amount of time for the ride, but you can go sit in a quiet place rather than a chaotic line. The only possible benefit would be riding something with a very short standby line during your wait, or shopping ect.

It works the same as a fp, each person has to tap their mb or ticket. Just make sure they ride within the 2 hour margin. They do have child swap as well

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to board and ride Smugglers Run since you were at the front of the pack? If they started walking you back to Smugglers shortly after 7am, what time do you think you got off the ride and were able to head over to Rise?
About 15 minutes. The longest part was just walking back there and walking through the queue.

Thank you for this. I have a DAS and I am pretty sure I wait longer, because as you said, wait times are often inflated, and then when I return, many times, there is a 10-20 minute wait in the FP line in addition. I have had a DAS for 9 years, and the old system absolutely did give you an advantage. With this one, you still have to wait just as long or longer to get on, you just have flexibility for your disability. I am sure patrons in the standby line would rather me wait for Space Mountain on the PeopleMover or at the Laugh Floor instead of puking on them when my claustrophobia kicks in.

We had boarding group 65 and it was called about 12:28 pm. We entered the ride and basically just kept walking. It wasn't backed up at all inside. We got off around 1:06 pm. After our failure to ride on Monday, we were thrilled to be able to ride it without any problems. It was great. :)

Which is faster/better: WiFi or Data
I don't know if there is any significant difference. DH used wifi and I used data and we pretty much got in at the same time. The whole process of getting into a boarding group took about 30 seconds anyway.

No problem. I haven't had to have one yet, but at some point anxiety may push me over the edge. I would hate to think someone thought I was gaming the system if it ever comes to that.

I would love to know what kind of wait you have once you are called! I think we might wind up in a backup group when we go next week Wednesday. I don't see us making a pre-park opening, but we might get in around 8am or so. Are people at the end of the evening still waiting 2+hours in the queue? I believe I saw some reports of that earlier on this board.

end of night wait times are longer because of many issues, especially if the attraction was down through the day many come back at the end of the night to ride, along with backup bg being called

So what happens when multiple people in a party try for BG at the same time (whether on the same MDE account or different ones)? The first one in gets the BG and the others get a message that they already have an assigned BG?

TL:DR the thread so sorry if this has already been answered;
Let's say you don't have park-hoppers. You get into the park at opening but you don't get a boarding group. Can you then decide to leave DHS for the day and head to another park? What about if you do get a boarding group but the ride breaks down mid-day and it's clear you won't get to ride?

If you don’t have parkhoppers, you can’t park hop without using 2 separate day tickets.

Sorry if this has already been asked but on Sunday, there’s extra magic hours at night from 8-10. Will this impact RoTR backup boarding groups or will they close the queue at normal park close?
