I just finished a book entitled "Ticket to Ride" by Larry Kane. Larry Kane was the only American journalist to travel to each stop of the Beatles' 1964 and 1965 tours. The book is supposed to be a first-hand insight into the tours. It was very boring and not a recommended read. What are you reading right now and would you recommend it?

Unfortunately no. I have been neglecting my reading. :(

I hope I get some good ideas here. :)

I just read "Second Chance" by Danielle Steele and it was soooo good!! I loved it! Right now I am reading, "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" by Mitch Albom. It is pretty good so far! :)

I really enjoyed "Five People You Meat in Heven":D
I jsut finished 'Buddha Mom'~a non-fiction book.....I would recommend it::yes::
Now I'm reading Debbie Macomber's latest '44 Cranberry Lane'~4th in a series-so far I'm liking it:D

"The Wild Blue" by Stephen Ambrose. Nice Read.

Ostensibly about B-24 Bomber crews in WW2, but more accurately the story of George (the senator) McGovern during the same time.

Can't say I've EVER been a fan of McGovern's, but after reading this, I certainly have a lot of respect for the man & what he (& his peers) went through.

Sometimes it is literally impossible for me to describe what "courage" is, but I know it when I read about it. I never cease to be amazed at what the men of the Armed Forces faced in WW2, what they did, how they survived and the fact that they did it willingly, knowing that their chances of survival were at best slim.

I like "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" too. The same author also wrote "Weekend's With Morrie", which was good, tugged at the heart strings a bit.

I am also reading Debbie Macomber's "44 Cranberry Lane", I like it also, as I have the whole series.

I am a big fan of Sue Grafton, she does the "A is for Alibi" series and Janet Evanovich who writes the Stephanie Plum series, "One for the Money". Another good author is Francine Rivers, her Mark of the Lion Series is great as are a lot of her other books.

I can go on and on, I love to read! What kind of books do you prefer?

I am reading Sidney Sheldon's new book "Are you afraid of the Dark"!! Great book. It is one of those that you just can't put down.:bounce:

21 Indespensible Qualities of a Leader and 21 Qualities of a Team Player by John C. Maxwell.

"Sknny Dip" by Carl Hiaasen, he writes for the Miami Herald.;) Strained my eyes, so I have to lay off for awhile.:(

Had those days when i said I am reading
Brimstone by Lincoln Child and Douglas preston
Davinci Code
Angels and demons

all books I could not put down . They were excellent

I read a lot of plays.

"All My Sons" and "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller. LOVED THEM as always. I think Miller is an amazing writer.

"Fool for Love" by Same Shepard, i liked it. It is really fast and intense.

Currently reading "A Lesson Before Dying" a book. Not sure of the author but about 1/4 way through and it is good so far.

Yep...the "Junie B. Jones.." series. Does that count? My 1st grader has been bringing them home from school. We've been reading one a week. We read 4-5 times a week.

You read it...it counts! My DD who was in the 1st grade last year LOVED these books. She dressed up as Junie B. for Halloween.

I just finished "Shadowmancer" by G.P.Taylor and "Wormwood" by G.P.Taylor. I liked Wormwood better. It's fictional. Set in London 1756 about a comet heading towards the earth & the prophesies surround it. Good vs Evil. Angles vs Demons.

I've just started reading "For Women Only" by Shaunti Feldhahn. I'll wait until I'm done to make a comment on this one.

I'm helping my DS11 read a book called "Eragon". I can't remember the author's name. He started writing it when he was 17 years old!!! OMG:eek: It is written so well!!! Fiction/Fantasy. I'll let you know later how this one goes. So far my son LOVES it, and he is sure expanding his vocabulary!

I just read the Pearl Diver (forget the author, it was a man though)

It was an interesting story about a woman in Japan who as a young woman was a Pearl Diver.

She contacts leprosy, and is sent away to leper colony in a remote area of Japan. She is forbidden contact with her family, and has to forge relationships with the others for the 60, yes, 60 years she is there.

She does leave the colony to visit, and comes back.

The premise is that the government is commisioning a musuem to honor the people that lived there, and is told by the type of artifacts displayed.

I thought I would hate this book, but it was very touching and good.

I just started Deception Point by Dan Brown. I think it was written prior to Da Vinci code, so its nothing like it. It honestly reads more like a Tom clancy book at the moment (spys, presidential orders, the government) than a religious book.

Its interesting because its nothing like Angels and Demons and Da vinci code.
