Read All About It!! Trip Report #23 is Done

<b><u>5560</u></b>

Barb, you've been lobbying on this board to have 5560 renamed "The Barb and Tony Suite". With all the wear and tear you observed on your last two cruises, maybe it <i>is</i> known as "The Barb and Tony Suite" by the maintenance staff... a dubious honor given your description. LOL!

<b><u>"Who Wants to Be..."</u></b>

The ABC show on which this game was based had a short, brilliant life. What a ratings powerhouse it was, but now the prime-time version is being canceled only to be replaced with a timid daytime version. As the novelty has worn off, I wonder if they'll need to replace this show in the Disney show lineup as well. Or move it to Studio Sea and have a <i>"real"</i> show in the Walt Disney Theater?

<b><u>Castaway Cay</u></b>

You usually mention Tony snorkeling at the adult beach. Do you guys haul your own snorkel gear, or do you rent from Disney?

Great report as usual, Barb! :D Tell Tony, I feel his pain, if we had had a "spokesperson" like he did when I was a panelist on Mouseketeer I would have wanted to kill! ;)

i'll have to wait to read it when we get back from vacation....

one thing.....i'm really sorry i didn't mention to you that we were staying in room 8534......you could have come take pictures....i didn't think of it until it was too late.....
it's a fabulous cat 3 configuration that i highly recommend (i took a few pictures....if they come out i'll scan them and send them to you....)

as for that panel......we still laugh about the guy at the microphone....

That must have been some "Mouseketeer!" I'm not fond of that show so I usually skip it, but I guess I should have gone to that one. Better yet, I should have been on the panel. I am the "assertive" sort, so I probably would have just grabbed the mike. That panel must be infamous...we saw Cruise Director Rick later that evening (he didn't emcee the show), and he said, "I hear the panel was dysfunctional!"

Im not a big fan of the show either so didnt care if I saw it or not. I spent that time getting ready for Palos, but Peter went to the show. After hearing how "exciting" it was I wish I had gone.

I dont know if you got my email or not(I sent it to the address on your site), but in case you didnt, great report!!!! I loved reading it. You guys definitely know how to have fun. It was so great to meet you. Thanks again for all the tips and for introducing us around. Hopefully when we get to cruise again, you will be on the ship with us again. I figure there is a good chance of that since you are always there. ;)

I think that Cruise Director is RICK!!

Jan :earsgirl:

You got it!! It's the man with the xylophone himself! Tony had made a comment to me that Rick would make a great avatar, so he got his wish.
Due to the magic of digital cameras that also record sound, Rick is actually featured on our answering machine message at home now...really confuses the heck out of the telemarketers. I swear they think they're calling a ship! ;)

great trip report!!
by the way, a question (my daugther was wondering this too), when you go on the 3 cruises in a row, will you get to stay on the ship when it's in port canaveral?

as for the smoke in wavebands.....i think it may have been there were fewer smokers....i was really really worried about this before the cruise....i'm extremely sensitive to smoke.....while there was some in wavebands it wasn't bad at all.....

by the way, the 50's/60's party in wavebands was lots of fun....the CM dancers really kept it going....(and by the end, my rusty twist wasn't half bad)....

We should be able to stay on board unless Customs regulations change. It will be so nice not to have to worry about packing on that last night. For once we can stay up late and go to the 50's.60's party instead of frantically trying to pack and get to sleep in preparation for waking up so early the next morning. But I'm sure it will seem to go by as quickly as the Western did. At least Disney does not torture the guests as much as RCCL. On RCCL ships, they put mats with the day of the week in the elevators. It's cute at the start of the cruise, but towards the end I hated it because it reminded me how fast my vacation was slipping by.

Great trip report Barb and Tony. It makes me just that much more excited about our 3-day cruise in November. Rick was cruise director on the inaugural 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise and he was great!!! I even got a peek at his office while we were docked at Castaway Cay. I hope that he's on board in November. Sounds like you two had another excellent DCL experience.

Yep, Rick will definitely be there in November. He begins his vacation shortly, so he will be gone for our three-peat, but he will be back for our Thanksgiving cruise.

Just read thru your trip report and well.........We don't have another cruise booked until 4/03. Your report makes me want to call the TA and book another sooner. I can't wait to see P.J. again and the Spa...... oh... we really need that more than a couple times a year. If only I did not have 3 kids with school schedules, I would certainly be cruisen with you and Tony!!!!!!! I only wish that Salvatore would come onto the Wonder. He really was "wonder"ful at Palo (all 4 times we had him at Palo on our 6/1 Magic. Truly did miss P.J. though. I have to try the suriel (sp) next trip. Did you say you took extra towels or just asked for them? Hubby will be so surprised!!!!! I LOVE the spa. I do not post often but read every day and really enjoy hearing about your trips. Hope your luck continues. We have been 4 times and also have had great luck with weather. What is the weather like in December at Castaway Cay? Just thinking we could do a 3 or 4 day in December!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your reports.

Barb,
Forgot to mention (like I am telling you something you don't know already) When we were on Magic in June they did not have the Pesto that hubby loves so much at Palo. Hubby just asked for it and Salvatore brought it every night, also in the regular dining rooms hubby asked for it and we automatically had it at our table with dipping bread every single night..... Just a thought Also noticed that they did not have the Sea Bass in Palo on the Magic that we have always gotten on the Wonder, they had Tuna instead (which was loaded with bones) maybe it was just a bad cut, but we really did miss the Sea Bass which is so good. The sea bass in Tritons/Lamiers does not compare with the Sea Bass in Palo but they did have it in Lamiers. I think I'll call TA 1st think Monday AM and get something (can't wait till April 03')
