"Reach for the sky!" We're finally getting there in JAN 2012!!!TR LINK PG 69!

Here's the final design for our shirts (obviously his says "DALLAS" and not Karen!) I LOVE them and so excited about wearing them all day on Saturday after the race!

I am, however, slightly concerned b/c I'm having pain on the side of my thigh. I've been having it since before I got sick and it got better while I was down sick for 2 weeks, but when I started back up running, it started hurting again, even worse. So, since I'm busy anyway, I'm taking the week off and I got a compression sleeve to wear on it. :confused3

I love the final design! It will feel so great wearing those shirts all day after the race. Hopefully your leg will get to feeling better soon! :goodvibes:goodvibes

I love the final design for the shirt. That looks awesome! Sorry to hear about your thigh, though! I hope the compression works :goodvibes. You were really working your butt off this weekend! One more thing is about to be checked off of your list!

Thanks guys! I really like it too! I need to get this leg healed so I can train some more. I know I can do a 5K regardless, but I would rather not be in pain the rest of our week after doing it!

So, I need opinions! So, Leslee's family doesn't have a lot of money right now and I'm itching to get our tickets pretty soon (within the next month) and I have some decisions to make! Since they are special homeschool tickets, I have to know whether we are getting hoppers when I get them, it can't be added later like on regular tickets. It's also WAY less expensive to add hoppers, about $18 per person. (but this also makes the tax a bit more too).

Since they are short on money, I'm wanting to just get Leslee's ticket when I get ours and she can pay me back. This means it will take me a little longer b/c I'll have to save up more AND, if we get hoppers, it's even MORE to save. The reason I want to get hoppers though is b/c I'm thinking we may pass on the party this year.

I LOVE MNSSHP! Savannah & I have been twice and we love it, but Rey and Dylan have not. I'm pretty sure Leslee's parents will not be able to afford a MNSSHP for her, so I would need even more money for that and I'm totally on the fence about it. I'm considering the hoppers and just making sure we spend a couple evenings at MK instead. Savannah seems ok with it and I guess if we get closer and end up having the money, we can just buy tickets and go...

What do you think? Hop or party? Hopping will be cheaper but it seems wrong to go during MNSSHP and not see the party/parade? I really don't want to shell out $300 for a parade and fireworks (that I've seen before, even if I do LOVE LOVE LOVE them)

What to do? What to do?!?!?

I say just go with the Hoppers! It will be less $$ and less stress for you and will give you more flexibility in the parks. You can always go watch the HalloWishes from the Poly beach (or somewhere else outside of MK) and then the only thing you are missing is the Boo to You Parade! ;)

I was not even considering doing MNSSHP but after reading all the wonderful info about it here and knowing that we will probably not ever go back in October I think we are going to splurge and do it. Of course, I am only buying tix for me, my BF and my DS. I told my grandparents that they do NOT have to feel obligated to go but are more than welcome to if they choose! :goodvibes

Hmmm! That is tough. I think I would go with the party, but i've never been to one, so that's why i'd go that route. If you've been twice and really want to hop, go with that. It's tough when you're trying to figure out the money part of it with someone else involved too. If MNSSHP is much more than hopping, go with hopping so you don't end up missing out on both, cause like you said, you can't add hoppers later, BUT you could buy party tickets later if you end up having extra cash. I know what you mean though....being there at Halloween and not going to the party :confused3

Yep, it's a hard choice, AND, to complicate matters worse, Rey thinks he won't be able to take a whole week and will have to fly from MN (where his work is, so he can leave his truck) and meet us there. He is talking about 4 park days for him, so I'm feeling like we really need the hoppers!

I think I'll get the hoppers just in case and then wait to see what happens with the party. We can always get those later, but if it ends up that we don't have the money, we'll at least have the hoppers! :thumbsup2

Hi, Karen! I have been following your PTR since last year but I just now officially subbing to your thread. I am so very glad that you are finally getting to the "finish line."

As for you, "hop or party" decision... I think HOP! You will most likely get a lot of good out of the hoppers throughout your trip. Like you said, if the $$$ is available later, you can always purchase the MNSSHP.

We are trying to make a similar decision with deciding between the MNSSHP or the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Cruise for our son, Porter's, 4th birthday. So hard to try and decide :confused3

Can't wait to read more of your plans!

Ok, now that we've added another detail such as Rey's work schedule, then I can see how hoppers would be better.......

Welcome!!!!!!! :welcome:

I'm so glad you decided to sub and join in! That's a hard choice for you guys as well! Does he normally stay up late? I think that might be a factor for me if I was trying to decide with a 4 year old. The party is so late, I know when my kids were young, they were really early to go to bed, they would have never made it at one of the parties!

Hi Karen...

sorry a bit behind...I just read up via your post links....

first LOVE LOVE the race shirt disign that is awesome...looks like the real deal untill I read a friend made it...I'd go for the we did it maybe on the back and wear proudly for the rest of the trip :goodvibes plus go w/ a colored shirt and dark color transfers they last through muliple washings unlike the white ones don't make through a single one I used Print works for the shirts I made in Nov and turned out FAB!

2nd sorry about the friends not being able to go at the same time as you...but so sweet you invited a friend to come w/ for your DD!

what's up w/ your leg...I obviously missed something in not reading the banter...

plus for your question party or hop...

here are my thoughts:

1) since you are trying to stick to a farily good budget which cost will get your more band for your buck?

2) how do you tour? do you plan our a pretty good day to day intinerary where you can map out your days by just doing 1 park per day...then go w/ the party. but if you like to wing it...then maybe hoping would be better.

Yes you'd miss the cool parade and other fireworks (can't say how awesome never seen)...but you can still see all the awesome Halloween decor, reg Wishes and other parades...

hope that helps :thumbsup2

I've never used the clear transfers, I thought they worked worse! Of course, I get special white ones from amymickey, she's on the DISign boards and they have washed over and over really well. I hate that they are white always though. Was that the brand you used called print works? Wasn't sure if that was the brand or not.

It's hard b/c REY is a fly-by-your-pants-go-wherever...but I AM NOT. I'm a planner and could do it easily without hoppers, but, if he's not going to be there the whole time, I'm concerned that he'll want to hop to Epcot in the evenings that he is there. It's about $116 more total for all of us to have hoppers, so I think I'll just get them. As for the party, I'll just wait until we get closer and then decide. I think there's enough for us to do without going again, but I may change my mind when we get closer!

Thanks for the welcome! Porter can stay up later than me! We will hear him in his bed just talking to himself sometimes after midnight. Audrey Anne is our early to bed child, but she is an excellent stroller sleeper. That being said, I am leaning towards the firework cruise because I think he will enjoy it more. He loves all things pirates, especially Peter Pan and Hook. It would make his day get to see them and send a little time with them. He doesn't know about the MNSSHP so he would not feel like he is missing anything. I might go ahead and book the cruise and then get MNSSHP tickets closer to time if the additional funds become available.

I have always used Amy's transfers, too and have always had good luck with them. I just try to pick designs that are easily trimmed so that the white does not show as much...

Yeah, I think your idea of getting the hoppers is best, especially with Rey only having 4 days there. I really hope you do get to do MNSSHP because of how much you and Savannah love it. Is Rey interested in going too? Luckily, it doesn't seem that party tix sell out too quickly (if at all) in early October. Maybe you'll have another busy week and can get the tix later. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya! ;) Hey, isn't tomorrow your first ADR day? :yay:

YES! Tomorrow actually begins a week of ADR's!!!!!!! Since we are offsite, I get to make them every day this week for each day of our trip!!! :cool1: I know when staying onsite, it's easier b/c you can do them all on your 180 days, but this kind of makes it more fun! It's a good thing I normally wake up at 4-5am anyway!

4-5am??? Does that time of morning really exist? I thought it was just a myth! :rotfl:

Ok, first little "bump" in the road this morning with the ADRs! Hopefully this is the only one!

There wasn't a single ADR open for Friday evening at RFC until 8pm! Anything earlier was 3:30 in the afternoon! At first I started to freak out, thinking this is what I get for not staying onsite and being able to do +10, but then I remembered, I experienced this last time with RFC b/c they only release a small portion of their reservations to Disney for ADRs. Last time I just called them directly and made a reservation for the evening I wanted...BUT...when we showed up, they couldn't find it and luckily they just took mercy on me, I think, and put us as a walkup!

So, wanting to avoid that, and not wanting to eat so late (race next morning) or right in the middle of needing to go to the Expo that afternoon and get our race packets, I decided to just make it a LUNCH ADR! I made it for 1pm. I figure we'll get into town and can just drive straight to DTD! THAT is what I call instant gratification, my friends! The house technically isn't ready until 4pm, so we'll just go to DTD, then hit the Expo and THEN go to the house/grocery shop. We can head back to DTD that night after dinner to shop, go to Goofy's, etc.

Ok...tomorrow is Ohana late breakfast after the race and Boma dinner. I need to get these, so there better not be anymore bumps! :scared:

Oh and I have a question! I was thinking about how on our gift card, we might have a little left (it's a RFC GC) after dinner and this would normally, on a trip, prompt me to buy Savannah a souvenir on our way out. How do I do this with Leslee along? I think she will be bringing money, but I'm not sure if it will be much and I'm not sure how to work the souvenir situation. Normally Savannah would have a certain amount to spend, but sometimes it's fun to buy her something when she sees it. I'm guessing I'll just have to not do this b/c it would mean Leslee would have to buy her own stuff or I would feel like I needed to get her whatever I was getting Savannah. Would you just give Savannah a set amount and leave it at that? I may have to set aside money to get the girls one spur-of-the-moment-item just b/c I think it is fun to occasionally do this. Savannah spends most of her time calculating what she can afford and what to get her friends back home, sometimes it's just nice to have Mom buy it, does this make sense???
