Hello all:

Does anyone know if and if so, how, you can use your miles to move up (pay for through your miles) to first class? Can you do it at the gate if seats are free? Do you have to do it at the ticket agent stand? Do you have to it prior through reservations? Or can't you do it at all. Thanks for any info or feedback.

I believe you need to call 3 days in advance of flight. Miles are either 10,000 or 20,000 depending upon what fare you payed. This is for roundtrip upgrades.Look on their site or call.

If you are not preferred with the airline your chances of upgrading are pretty slim. USAirways offers unlimited upgrades to its preferred frequent flyers.

If you are silver you can request an upgrade a day in advance. You could always try at the gate but upgrading with miles at the gate is probably not going to work.

Thanks safetymom--we are silver status. Thanks for the info!!

Call now and request an upgrade. Since you are silver you won't need to use your miles for the upgrade. :) At the one day mark call them back again to make sure the upgrade cleared or it didn't. They can assign the seats at that time.

A great board for maximizing your ff miles is www.flyertalk.com
There is a US Airways board and there are always lots of great ideas.
