Re-Upholster a vintage couch what to do?

:goodvibes Thank you for all the responses!! I would love to learn to do it myself!! The links provided here are great!! =) I talked to DH and he thinks it would be worth it, we will see Im going in person to talk with the upholstery person. Ohh and the era on the couch could very well be 1960s or 70's =) Im no pro I just googled like pics and now after it was mentioned I do see ones from those years that look similar :goodvibes Home was built in 1967 and we purchased from the original owners so it makes sense  So much information here Im trying to reply to all, the TJ Maxx comments are right I agree I was having a weak moment the chairs are very cute :upsidedow

We reupholstered a small older two-seater couch back in the late 90s. It cost us $600 including the fabric.

One other thing to consider - depending on the "funky fabric" you fall in love with, you don't necessarily have to redo the couch with the tufting...

I bought my furniture from Calico Corners (who also do reupholstery, BTW), and the storage ottoman that I purchased normally is tufted, but I didn't want that, because the fabric I chose (a beautiful Suzani) would look horrible with the tufting.

I agree with the PP's, though - if the bones of the furniture is good quality, it can make sense to have it reupholstered instead of buying new. We had a couch we LOVED, but in all honesty, it was not well made, so we went with new instead.
