I know this is going to fall on deaf "ears" < ha! that was funny--

OK- anyway-- I am really PO'd about the TH turning into a buffet and I would like to voice this to Disney. Even though it is a done deal and I know they won't change their minds- I just need to get it out. I just have had it with all of the restaurant changes anymore!!

I am tired of having more and more character buffets- pretty soon the choices for dining are going to be limited- OK I know not really but it just feels that way!:rolleyes1

TH was THE BEST CS Disney had to offer in any of the parks- IMO-- and I just want to tell Disney not to mess with a good thing.

I KNOW I am NOT the only one who feels this way- There are a lot of people out there who just love the TH and would not like to see it go........

ok- I am done.....so- what is Disney's e-mail???....anyone????:rotfl2:

Thanks!!!:wizard:

I also agree and would love to send a letter/email.

I'm frankly blown away WDW would change such a good thing. I could see changing up restaurants that just aren't making the grade for whatever reason, but I don't think TH fell into that category.

DH & I saw a program a while back, maybe a year or two ago, on one of the documentary channels (TLC, Discovery ... maybe even the Food Network) about theme park food throughout the country and how changes were being made for the better. It showed TH, how they're able to crank out so many thousand rot. chickens a day, so many grilled salmons, so many veggies and rice servings, how much the crowds are loving it, etc. They even showed the dining atmosphere compared to other theme park eateries (both buffets and burger factories) and portrayed TH in the utmost favorable light of where theme park dining in general was headed.

Just seems like they're taking TH a giant step backwards -- especially considering WDW's announcement last year to go "healthy." There are so many character all-you-can-eat buffets to choose from on WDW property, but there are very few CS places like TH to choose from.

This has been one of my favorite places to eat CS because of the healthy food choices. With all of this hooplah about healthy kids choices, I think that this is a giant step backwards for the adults :(

I've already sent mine and received the automated response.

I made sure to include in my letter that the shopping and atmosphere in Africa & dining at TH are the main reasons we even visit AK at all.

Honestly, I told DH that TH is turning into a buffet, and he asked what's the point of going to AK at all now. TH was very unique and an excellent value.

Is WDW trying to push people off site? Looks like our AK day will be converted to an extra day at IOA and lunch at Confisco's, a delicious, creative restaurant that we've often given up to hit AK.

When is the change going to take place? We're going in July and it's one of our favorite places. I hope it's not happening until after our trip!

I think I read closing in August, reopening in November. Going off memory, tho.

Has the future Restaurantasaurus menu been published?

What if it's just the old TH menu?

I'm pretty sure that will still be the same - the hamburgers and the McDonald's stuff.

The only thing that moves from Restaurantasaurus to Tusker is the breakfast buffet. Restaurantasaurus for lunch and dinner was always CS too, just the breakfast was the TS buffet.

Not sure how I feel about the Tusker change. Waiting to see the new menu.

Kind of an odd move though, given they are already opening the Yak and Yaki TS in AK soon too.

I agree, Tusker House was our absolute favorite counter service meal!

What is Disney thinking?

. . . I am tired of having more and more character buffets- pretty soon the choices for dining are going to be limited . . .

1) Yep.
2) There is a place for character meals.
3) But, the place shouldn't be EVERY PLACE.
4) Unfortunately, they make too much profit for WDW.
5) I'd look for more in the future, and not less.

I KNOW that will be happening- I am already bracing myself.

I guess Disney forgets about those of us who do not have kids and still like a nice meal!:rolleyes1

 TH is my FAVORITE CS, anywhere onsite...how did i miss the original thread!

Can someone recap exactly what is transpiring?:confused3 :headache:

nevermind, found it; nuts!

Not "forgets" -- we just don't have as much clout as we wish we did, and perhaps even less than we had until recently. Disney serves its patrons in proportion to how much each set of patrons rewards them for serving them. Right now, young families are rewarding Disney like never before. They're having far more positive impact on Disney than the foodies, the young couples and the empty-nesters (like us!), so Disney's offerings are being redressed to better serve them.

This is where you can send them your thoughts

Thanks,

I'm going to write to Disney right now and tell them thanks. I love the idea of another TS restaurant in AK; I never thought Rainforest Cafe was enough and its all the way at the beginning of the park. I hope there are characters at TH - maybe jungle characters (lion king, jungle book, etc)

OP,

As you can see you are not alone. I'm so frustrated. I can't believe I have such strong emotions about a restaurant and buffets in general.:lmao: But I do.

Thanks so much for the information. Here is my response to them: EDIT:Let it be known that I would have written a much friendlier, more positive maybe even fair letter in retrospect. Nonetheless, I stand by it's main points..just not the tone. Gosh darn brilliant TH cooks. Grilled salmon brings up so many fighting words:laughing: I'll fight for you my lovely grilled salmon! I think I need sleep.

Hi,

I'm just going to be blunt. Your decision to turn Tusker House into a buffet is a poor one. I also find it irresponsible.

Must people who don't want to eat buffets, don't want piles of food in front of them, enjoy eating healthy and light and have the price correspond to that choice have fewer and fewer choices at WDW.

Tusker House is, or was if you go through with this decision, an outstanding CS restaurant. Give the team that designed and cook at that establishment a raise for me. It is a standout at the parks and WDW for that matter.

I ate there every time I was at AK. I actually regularly crave the grilled salmon there.

Some people love their buffets. Fine. You've given them a myriad of choices. Please stop annoying loyal customers who just want to be able to order healthy food off a menu and have the price correspond to that.

Wow. Honestly, I'm speechless.

Thank you for listening,

Lisa

I think we enjoy our vacations more when we don't get so caught up in our expectations and instead focus just on having a great time. Disney has always provided a wonderful venue, with wonderful offerings. Focusing on the bad to the exclusion of the good is self-defeating. The biggest secret of WDW is that most of the magic is within US. :wizard:

That's unfair to them, I feel. Their obligations are quite clear, and there are no obligations that require them to leave things as any of us specifically want them to be.

Wow. What? Bicker, that came off as patronizing to me. I was laughing about my emotion level at the time. I'm not caught up in anything. If TH changes it will be a absolute bleep on my happiness radar. You made a lot of assumptions about me. I have little, if none, expectations about WDW when I vacation.
i'm laughing. Only that it is still there!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm such a go with the flow, no ADRS, bus wait/who cares, kind of vacationer.

Hence why I was surprised I'm actually very disappointed about something at WDW.

We are in complete agreement about WDW. My DVC purchase was a ten year dream come true. People ask me, "why Lisa?" Why? Because no one looks after their customers like WDW. No one. They are so beyond most. Why? Because 15 years ago their marketing had different ethnicities in it when many, not all but many, companies seemed to think everyone is white. I'm white and I was thrilled to love a company that lets most ethnicities see themselves. Important to me.

Focusing on the bad to the exclusion of the good? What? I think I said how outstanding TH is right now. And you know nothing about me. I regularly ask for managers on vacation. You know why Bicker? To thank them and their staff for doing such an exceptional job and to express to them what a fantastic time I've had because of their wonderful service.

And I don't need to "enjoy our (my) vacations more" because that would be totally overwhelming sensation due to the fact I already love every minute at WDW Bicker. Love it! Love it when my expectations run the gamut from yeah there is a bed for "afternoon nap please" to having an airport rum bottle to mix a drink on the BW.

And yes I'm not having "good" emotions right now and that's fine....nothing wrong with that. I'm laughing too. And thanks for the magic within us sermon...I was totally unaware. Yep, patronizing by me. Oh well.
