Re-thinking my stay, looking at possible good neighbor off-site resorts

I am going to be at WDW Dec 26 to Jan 3 for a solo trip and my first since 1980.

I am currently staying at AS-Sports, but really can't justify paying $127 a night for something where I am only going to shower and sleep in and maybe go back to for a afternoon break.

I was wondering if anyone knew if any of the good neighbor resorts have continues shuttle service to and from WDW.

Also, if anyone can suggest a very nice close off-site resort I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

DTD hotels have a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. Other than that the offsite hotels have schduled shuttles which I wouldn't rely on.

Well for your times I don't think you are going to get really cheap hotels.

Personally if you are NOT renting a car, then it is worth the money to stay on site. The off site shuttles have some problems and plus at that time of the year it will be crowded and you will be able to use EE if you stay on site.

I did an offsite shuttle once. NEVER again. We could not stay until closing of the MK since the last shuttle departed 30 minutes after closing. Now if you are there when it is busy it can take you over 30 minutes just to get back to TTC.

LewisC,

Thanks for the feedback.

I know that alot of people will probably disagree with my planning of possible switching from a WDW resort to a DTD resort especially the week between x-mas and ny because of the parks getting crowded so early, and the possibility of not being able to get into them.

Thanks again,

Jason,
Just because I am bored and don't want to clean (which is what I should be doing). I put your dates into Travelaxe. (I love that tool.)

For the DTD hotels here is what I came up with.

Grosvner $118 a night
Hilton in DTD $129
Hotel Royal Plaza $131
Wyndam Palace $200
Doubletree Suites $185
Courtyard $139.

All of these are per night and don't include tax.

I find Travelaxe to be very good at tracking the cheap rates.

I also checked the Fairfield Marriott Village since I heard it has a decent shuttle $99 a night.

I think that to get a DTD hotel you may have to risk Priceline. You just picked an expensive time to go.

If you go w/ a real offsite hotel (not DTD) you might be able to save enough $$ to rent a car and not have to worry about shuttles. Bet you could get a rental via Priceline pretty cheap.

I am sure you could get a room for $50 a night using PL, probably even less if you do your research on www.biddingfortravel.com

With all the money you save on your hotel, renting a very small car for one person should be pretty cheap.

Didn't you post on another board about getting AS for $77.00 per night through some other website for these dates?
